Manchester United have been bright. They have controlled possession and played through the lines really well, when they've showed patience.

Marcus Rashford looks like he is prepared to carry on hitting the ground running and be fantastic for the rest of the season.

A very enjoyable night for Marcus Rashford comes to an end.

Many inside Old Trafford rise to their feet and give their homegrown hero a wonderful ovation as he walks off to be replaced by Fred.

Young left-back Brandon Williams also gets a runout in place of Tyrell Malacia, making his first appearance for United since May 2021.

    Charlton 0-0 Brighton

    It's anyone's game now!!

  6. Postpublished at 21:43 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2022

    Blackburn 1-3 Nottingham Forest

Forest 26-3 ahead on shots, 14-1 ahead on shots on target and 3-1 ahead in goals.

If Jon Dahl Tomasson had been braver and named his strongest 11 for Blackburn then this may have been different. The only surprise is it took so long for Forest to kill this one off.

Star man Ben Brereton Diaz remains an unused sub for Blackburn, who have prioritised a Boxing Day game at Sunderland instead of the chance of getting into a cup quarter-final.

  7. 'Finishing been the difference'published at 21:43 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2022

    Man Utd 2-0 Burnley

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

The finishing has been the difference.

That was a huge chance. Burnley made it work, and Ashley Barnes has probably got a yard too far forward for the angle the ball came in at.

  8. Postpublished at 21:43 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2022

    Man Utd 2-0 Burnley

    And another Burnley chance!

The ball breaks to Ashley Barnes inside the Manchester United area and he lashes past the wrong side of the post.

The away end thought it was in.

That's Barnes' final contribution as he is then replaced by Scott Twine.

  9. Postpublished at 21:41 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2022

    Charlton 0-0 Brighton

The away fans are making a right racket at the Valley, trying to suck the ball in.

Brighton have had 77% possession with 18 shots and six on target compared to two for Charlton, which were both in the first half.

  10. Postpublished at 21:41 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2022

    Man Utd 2-0 Burnley

    And here's another Burnley chance.

On-loan Chelsea youngster Ian Maatsen pops up on the edge of the United box and sees a shot deflected out for a corner.

From the set-piece, the ball ends up at the feet of Johann Berg Gudmundsson who crashes a low shot wide.

  11. 'This display will give Burnley belief'published at 21:39 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2022

    Man Utd 2-0 Burnley

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Burnley have created a number of chances and they could have got something from the game.

It is the way they are doing it. They've come here in the past and tried to make the pitch small and nick something, but this side haven't done that.

They've tried to play their way, and see how they compare. They've come up short but it will give them belief for the rest of the season.

  14. Postpublished at 21:36 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2022

    Man Utd 2-0 Burnley

The problem for Burnley all game has been getting picked off on the counter. Even more so now as they chase the game.

Anthony Elanga and Antony stick on the burners as Manchester United look to kill the game, but the latter's intended pass to Bruno Fernandes is wayward and the chance disappears.

  15. goal

GOAL - Blackburn 1-3 Nottingham Forestpublished at 79 mins

    Taiwo Awoniyi (Nottingham Forest)

That should be the game and, fully deserved, Nottingham Forest move 3-1 ahead.

This comes from a lightning quick counter attack and Jesse Lingard plays a ball through for Taiwo Awoniyi who shrugs off a home defender and scores.

A huge cheer greets returning England left-back Luke Shaw as he replaces Aaron Wan-Bissaka, while Anthony Elanga tags Anthony Martial.
