Jesse Lingard was the man chopped down to get a free-kick just outside the penalty area and the ball is passed to him from that free-kick, he strikes low but it takes a massive deflection to wrongfoot Aynsley Pears in the Blackburn goal and the Premier League side lead again.

Going to be interesting to see how this game plays out physically considering Burnley are a couple of weeks ahead of United in terms of the season restarting.

Manuel Benson - Burnley's livewire in the first half - quickly gets on the front foot and almost entices Tyrell Malacia into giving away a penalty.

You will have noticed there is no place for Jadon Sancho in the Manchester United squad tonight.

The 22-year-old winger was not involved in training at Carrington on Tuesday as Erik ten Hag's players prepared for the Red Devils' return to action after the World Cup break.

He was absent from United's recent two-match tour of Spain recently as he worked on his own fitness programme.

After not being selected by England for the tournament, he was instead placed on an individual regime in the Netherlands.

"Sometimes there are circumstances with fitness and mood," Ten Hag said. "He was not in the right status or fitness state."
