  1. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 77 mins

    QPR 1-0 Sheffield United

The Blades are showing more urgency and are starting to boss possession as QPR sit back.

Iliman Ndiaye goes down in the box and the visitors appeal for a penalty but referee Josh Smith isn't swayed.

Then a shot is blocked and the Rs clear.

They quickly counter and Ilias Chair has a low shot blocked by John Egan.

  2. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 74 mins

    QPR 1-0 Sheffield United

Switch for the Rs as Luke Amos comes on for Chris Willock.

Willock had been bright after coming back into the starting XI tonight.

Amos should beef up the midfield in the closing stages.

Into the final 20 minutes as young Sheffield United forward Daniel Jebbison comes on for wing-back George Baldock.

That'll surely mean a formation change for the visitors, who have started to show a bit more intent.

QPR boss Neil Critchley has certainly had a turbulent time since taking over.

His first four games saw two 3-0 losses at home bookended by an away win and a draw.

Can he end a run of four straight defeats at Loftus Road (two of which preceded his arrival)?

    QPR 1-0 Sheffield United

Blades striker Iliman Ndiaye almost nets what would have been a sensational solo goal.

He bursts forward after winning possession 10 yards inside his own half and has the home defence worried.

The Senegal forward decides not to try and pass through to a team-mate who is up in support and beats the last defender to get into the box.

But his final touch is just a tad heavy which allows Seny Dieng to close him down and divert the ball behind for a corner.

Another change for the visitors as James McAtee comes on for Tommy Doyle.

Can he provide more impetus in the final third?

Sheffield United carve out one of their best chances of the evening.

A ball forward over the top of the QPR defence bounces up nicely for the onrushing Billy Sharp to lift over the advancing keeper Seny Dieng.

He gets too much on his lob, though, and it lands on the roof of the net to the relief of the home fans.

The hosts are pinging it around quite nicely while the Blades are lacking a spark.

Wes Foderingham has to be alert to come and claim a cross from in front of the lurking Lyndon Dykes.

    QPR 1-0 Sheffield United

Chris Willock gets on the ball in the United box after collecting a flick-on from Lyndon Dykes.

He chops back inside from the left to widen his angle and open up a shooting opportunity, but his eventual effort is well off target.

Lofted ball into the QPR box and keeper Seny Dieng and Blades defender Anel Ahmedhodzic collide while challenging for the ball.

Dieng just about had both hands on the ball before the backtracking centre-back clattered into him.

The hosts are given a free-kick and both players need a spot of treatment.

QPR begin where they left off.

Lyndon Dykes collects a header forward, pivots and shoots at goal from the edge of the area.

The strike is deflected behind for a corner. The visitors eventually scramble it clear - but it isn't the most convincing defending.

    The second 45 begins.

QPR won the reverse fixture 1-0 at Bramall Lane in October and are aiming to do the double over the Blades for the first time since 2010-11.

Can Sheffield United turn this one around? Paul Heckingbottom has brought on Jack Robinson for Ciaran Clark at the break.

If you missed anything earlier this afternoon, here are today's Championship results:

    • Birmingham 1-3 Middlesbrough
    • Norwich 0-1 Watford
    • Swansea 1-2 Burnley
    • West Brom 1-0 Reading
    • Wigan 1-4 Hull
    • Stoke 0-1 Preston

Those results mean Burnley have a six-point lead over Sheffield United at the top of the table and Watford and Middlesbrough move back into the play-off places.

Meanwhile, Wigan remain rooted to the bottom of the division after a fourth straight defeat - meaning Kolo Toure has taken one point from a possible 15 since taking charge.

    HT: QPR 1-0 Sheffield United

As things stand, QPR would move up to 10th and be one point off the play-offs.

Rangers had scored just two goals in nine games before kick-off, but have looked more threatening so far this evening.

The Blades will surely have a response in the second half as the visitors hunt a ninth win in 10 matches.

Technical gremlins have affected our updates during the first half - but what matters is that Ilias Chair's deflected strike has QPR 1-0 ahead at the break.

It's been a well-contested game at Loftus Road, with the Rs deserving their lead on the balance of play.

After going behind, Blades skipper Billy Sharp tested Seny Dieng with a low effort which the Hoops keeper saved with his left foot.

Chair had another long-range shot deflected wide and Ciaran Clark blocked a fierce effort from Rob Dickie.

And Sheffield United keeper Wes Foderingham was booked for a handball just outside his area.

    QPR 1-0 Sheffield United

The hosts go close again and Ilias Chair cuts in from the left and flashes a curling ball into the box and over the bar.

It looks like he was going for goal rather than trying to pick-out a team-mate.

GOAL: QPR 1-0 Sheffield Unitedpublished at 11 mins

    Ilias Chair

Out of nothing, Rangers take the lead!

Sheffield United only have themselves to blame as John Egan misplaces a pass after receiving a short goal kick.

His ball is cut out by Chris Willock, who pops it inside to Ilias Chair.

The Morocco international lets fly from 25 yards and his shot deflects off Egan and past helpless keeper Wes Foderingham.

That's Chair's fourth goal of the season - and the form book has been thrown out of the window.

Sheffield United have picked up just over half their points on the road this season.

The Yorkshire club have registered a Championship-high 26 points on their travels, with eight wins and two draws in 13 outings away from Bramall Lane.

The Blades have taken maximum points from their past five trips, making it their best run of form away since October 1979.

Can they take three points home from Loftus Road to add to triumphs at West Brom, Bristol City, Cardiff, Wigan and Blackpool?
