Centre-back John Egan and wing-back George Baldock return while Tommy Doyle gets his first start since October.

Jack Robinson, Jaden Bogle and James McAtee drop to the bench and Max Lowe misses out on the squad with a side strain.

Blades XI: Foderingham, Ahmedhodzic, Egan, Clark, Baldock, Berge, Norwood, Doyle, Stevens, Ndiaye, Sharp.

Subs: Davies (GK), Basham, Robinson, Bogle, McAtee, Brooks, Jebbison.

QPR XI: Dieng, Kakay, Dickie, Dunne, Paal, Iregbunam, Field, Willock, Roberts, Chair, Dykes.

  3. Rs look to end poor Loftus Road runpublished at 19:50 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2023

QPR v Sheffield United (20:00 GMT)

Neil Critchley inherited a side who were ninth in the table when he took charge last month - after Michael Beale’s departure to the Rangers north of the border.

Results since then – with just one win in four games – have seen the Rs slip down to 15th ahead of kick-off, but the competitive nature of the Championship mean the Hoops are just four points from the play-offs.

But the side have suddenly become goal shy, netting just twice in a nine-game spell which has produced just one victory.

Moreover, Rangers have lost their past four at home – their worst run since 2014-15, when they were relegated from the Premier League.

After a fifth-placed finish last season and defeat in the play-off semi-finals, Sheffield United look to have set a course back to the Premier League.

The Blades begin the year second in the Championship and eight points clear of the play-off places with less than half of the campaign remaining.

And they have really found a rich vein of form, with Paul Heckingbottom’s men having rattled off eight wins in nine games, ending 2022 with five victories on the bounce.

QPR look to burst their bubble and bring them back down to earth – but the west Londoners are out of form.

Another high-octane afternoon of football in the EFL ends with a flurry of excitement, incident and goals most importantly.

We've had all-out thrashings and late winners, piledrivers and scuffs the strikers are almost too embarrassed to celebrate.

Burnley, Hull, Preston, Watford and West Brom feel like the big winners, whether it's for their dominance or the significance, the timing or the styling.

What's even better is, it doesn't end here.

Pop back a little later on for the aforementioned skirmish between the Hoops and the Blades.

West London versus South Yorkshire. All here.

Until then, thanks for joining us. Bye, for now.
