Derby County 4-0 Accrington Stanley: The Rams are relentless and playing like their hair is on fire. Tom Barkhuizen got his second of the game just over a minute into the second half after a totally calamitous defensive effort from Accrington Stanley at the back that involved what looked like an attempted back-pass to the keeper which was easily intercepted before being worked into an open net.

Sheffield Wednesday 4-0 Cambridge United: The Owls are piling on the pressure and like Derby County found the back of the net again early in this second half. The ball bouncing up nicely for Liam Palmer who smashed the ball into the back of the net. he won't care that it took a little deflection - a goal is a goal. Josh Windass netted his second on the 70th minute - can he get a hat-trick?

Lincoln City 1-0 Ipswich Town: In an unlikely turn of events, Lincoln City are 1-0 up despite being reduced to 10 men. Jack Diamond scoring from the penalty spot in the 64th minute. Ipswich have had enough chances in this one and have been keeping the Imps' keeper Carl Rushworth busy so far this second half - but it's the home side on top.

Barnsley 0-2 Bolton Wanderers: The home side still struggling to get a foothold in this game after going down to 10 men early in the first half.

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:30 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2023

    Norwich 0-0 Watford

Keinan Davis has made way for Watford with the impeccably-named Yaser Asprilla coming on.

Carrying that name has real responsibility, relation or no relation.

  5. goal

GOAL: Wigan 1-1 Hullpublished at 16:26 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2023

    Nathan Broadhead (63 mins)

What an inspired substitution by Wigan boss Kolo Toure, as Nathan Broadhead steps off the bench to fire them level against Hull.

How much he knew about it is questionable, as the ball ricocheted off a Hull defender from a corner and in off the Tics striker.

    Fifth of the season.

Daryl Dike has scored in the Championship at The Hawthorns for the first time.

It's a goal just over a year in the making for Dike. He's had an horrendous year with injuries but he's followed up his winner at Sunderland with his first home goal for Albion in front of the Birmingham Road end.

    Matt Crooks (59 mins)

    That man again!

Howler from Birmingham's George Friend, who fails to control a long ball forward, Matt Crooks pounces and strides towards goal before firing past John Ruddy for number two.

Blues masters of their own downfall AGAIN too.

    Birmingham 0-1 Middlesbrough

    Ian Clarkson
Ex-Birmingham captain on BBC Radio WM

A goal of Blues' own making. It was a great ball in but it was a free-header from Matt Crooks.

There was ample opportunity to clear the ball before the cross came in. John Eustace will be disappointed that it wasn't cleared or possession wasn't retained.

Deadlock smashed for Middlesbrough and it's from a peach of a cross by Jonny Howson from the right.

No-one gets to the ball in time to close down, and it's a free header just outside the six-yard box for Matt Crooks.

Powerful header buried past John Ruddy.

    Swansea 1-2 Burnley

Changes afoot in Swansea - the hosts bring on Olivier Ntcham and Wolves loanee Luke Cundle as they search for an equaliser, while Johann Berg Gudmundsson is on for Burnley.

There was a time when he was always good for a goal during the Clarets' Premier League days - one here might put it out of Swansea's reach.

    Birmingham 0-0 Middlesbrough

John Ruddy makes a sensational save, denying Marcus Forss after the Boro striker was set away by a Darragh Lenihan pass.

Blues then almost take the lead themselves, but Krystian Bielik can only steer Hannibal Mejbri's well-placed cross just wide.

    West Brom 0-0 Reading

Darnell Furlong is the latest West Brom player to go close to an opening goal at The Hawthorns, firing just wide of the post from the edge of the area.

Grady Diangana is on for Matt Phillips.

  14. CLOSE!published at 16:16 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2023

    Norwich 0-0 Watford

How on earth have Watford contrived not to score?!

James Morris curls in a cross from the left to the back-post after a Watford counter sees Norwich short handed in defence.

Morris' cross is powered into the mix at the back stick by Craig Cathcart, Vakoun Bayo goes airborne to volley but it's blocked, and Keinan Davis can't convert the second attempt.

That was begging to be buried.

    Norwich 0-0 Watford

James Morris gets a booking for Watford, after stretching a long way to plant his book on the ankle of a runaway Max Aarons.

Norwich's free-kick is fairly tame, but a foul in midfield gives them another set-piece to chuck forward.

Norwich interim boss Allan RussellImage source, PA Media

If it doesn't work out for Allan Russell as interim boss at Norwich, then with his get up today he would make an excellent 'Milk Tray Man', if such a character still exists.

All black, roll-neck, smart blazer. Just the ticket for delivering chocolates, spy-style to an attractive woman.

Slaven Bilic looks equally dapper. Take your pick.

Barrow 0-0 Rochdale: Still goalless in this one with neither side stamping their authority on the game.

Newport County 0-1 Crawley Town: Not only are Crawley Town ahead in this one but a former Newport County player has given them the lead. Striker Dom Telford firing home from close range to open the scoring.

Northampton Town 0-0 Leyton Orient: A half of few chances but it's Northampton Town who probably had one of the better opportunities in the opening 45 minutes. Mitchell Pinnock found the ball at his feet in-front of the net but failed to get a clean strike away and sent the ball over the bar.

Stevenage 1-0 Gillingham: Carl Piergianni put the home side in-front on the 23rd minute. Gillingham were unlucky not to equalise after having a shot cleared off the line by defender Luther James-Wildin.
