A sixth straight win for Burnley and they extend their lead at the top of the table.

Two goals in the first half from Ian Maatsen and then a disciplined defensive performance in the second half from Burnley, and their travelling supporters will go home with big smiles on their faces.

This is undoubtedly promotion form from the Clarets. It is relentless.

    West Brom 1-0 Reading

It wasn't always pretty, but West Bromwich Albion win again.

Eight victories in their past nine games for the Baggies, who are on a roll under Carlos Corberan and are just one point off the play-off spots now.

    Wigan 1-4 Hull

Hull City's Tigers are anything but toothless as they feast on the easy prey of a struggling Wigan.

Two goals for sub Tyler Smith to add to a Jacob Greaves strike and Oscar Estupinan effort see them take three points, and Nathan Broadhead's effort is mere consolation for the Latics.

  4. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:55 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2023

    Swansea 1-2 Burnley

Six league wins on the bounce, six points clear at the top - for a few hours at least.

    Vincent Kompany's side march on.

    Over to you, Sheffield United...

GOAL: Wigan 1-4 Hullpublished at 16:54 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2023

    Tyler Smith (90+1 mins)

Wigan are a well-beaten side now and Hull are filling their boots greedily.

It's a zipper of a cross from the right, into that channel between defence and goalkeeper, and there is Tyler Smith for his second at the back post.

Turns it in cutely. Rout time.

That should kill it off. Blues were in the game but I still think they can create opportunities.

  9. goal

GOAL: Norwich 0-1 Watfordpublished at 16:50 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2023

    Vakoun Bayo (86 mins)

Watford strike late on, and it's a goal built on pace and a sharp counter.

Vakoun Bayo holds the ball up before releasing Ismaila Sarr down the left.

He scuttles away at some speed before delivering into the box where Bayo meets it and finds the back of the net.

Cue celebrations. What a response to a 4-0 gubbing this is, if they can hang on!

Middlesbrough punish a tired Birmingham back-line as Chuba Akpom meets a fine centre on a Boro break, and steers it in for a defining third.

  11. goal

GOAL: Wigan 1-3 Hullpublished at 16:47 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2023

    Tyler Smith (85 mins)

Cool as you like from Tyler Smith to wrap it up for the Tigers and keep Wigan floundering at the foot of the table.

Smith chased a ball over the top into no-man's land, Jamie Jones scooted out of his box to clear but lost the race, and the Hull sub toed it past him and finished from an acute angle.

The coup de grace for poor old Wigan.

    Swansea 1-2 Burnley

Not much of note to report from Swansea, where Burnley are on course for a sixth straight league win.

    Norwich 0-0 Watford

No one seems to be able to deliver that special moment of class to win this.

Norwich are having the best of the chances of late though, as Adam Idah swept wide.

It was a simple ball pumped into the left channel for the ever-willing Teemu Pukki to chase.

He held it up, timed his cut-back to the edge of the box perfectly, but the shot from Idah breezed across the face of goal and wide.

Newport County 0-2 Crawley Town: The former Newport County striker Dom Telford is giving his former side a headache today. He's scored both goals, one from the penalty spot, for Crawley Town who are on top.

Northampton Town 1-0 Leyton Orient: This one is spicing up a little. Northampton Town midfielder Ben Fox's shot from the edge of the box somehow slid through the legs of a number of Orient defenders and bounced into the corner or the net. The visitors had a goal disallowed a few minutes later.

Stevenage 1-0 Gillingham: Carl Piergianni still has the lone goal in this one after putting the home side in-front on the 23rd minute. Gillingham were unlucky not to equalise after having a shot cleared off the line in the first half by defender Luther James-Wildin. Not much more to add from the second.

Barrow 0-0 Rochdale: Still goalless in this one with neither side stamping their authority on the game.

  15. goal

GOAL: Wigan 1-2 Hullpublished at 16:40 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2023

    Oscar Estupinan (78 mins)

Hull retake the lead and it's a goal which looks slapstick the more you see it.

It was a decent ball over the top which Oscar Estupinan brings down beautifully, but the finish was a scuffed, deflected effort off Jack Whatmough that trickled past a stricken Jamie Jones.

Not that Estupinan cares, it's a priceless goal.

    Swansea 1-2 Burnley

    Gareth Vincent
BBC Sport Wales at the Swansea.com Stadium

Burnley have been the stronger side in the second half in south Wales, but their failure to find a third goal means Swansea still have hope of salvaging at least a point.

The home side have created almost nothing since the break, but they have found a bit of momentum in the last few minutes.

The leaders have work to do yet before they can celebrate a sixth straight league win.

    Norwich 0-0 Watford

Norwich have Watford back-pedalling furiously, and Daniel Bachmann's bravery might just have been his undoing here.

It's a lovely slide rule through the lines to Josh Sargent, who can see Bachmann racing out.

The American winger gets his dinked effort away - wide - but then can't stop and he and Craig Cathcart seem to collide with the Austrian.

    He's down. It looks painful.
