  1. 'Simms just shrugs off Koulibaly'published at 19:20 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2023

    Chelsea 2-2 Everton

    Pat Nevin
Former Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

Simms has got all the raw material you need for a striker.

He is up against Koulibaly and he has just shrugged him off, went straight past him and kept it low. He does all the right things there

  2. goal

GOAL - Chelsea 2-2 Evertonpublished at 88 mins

    Ellis Simms

    Everton have a hero!

Chelsea switch off, allowing Abdoulaye Doucoure to lay a ball into Ellis Simms path. The striker runs past and holds off his marker before firing a low shot that squirms under Kepa and finds the net.

It is his first goal for the club and what a big, big one it could be!

  3. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 85 mins

    Chelsea 2-1 Everton

Joao Felix has not had as much influence this half as in the first. He departs to be replaced by Carney Chukwuemeka.

Wesley Fofana also comes off with Trevoh Chalobah on.

  4. Postpublished at 85 mins

    Chelsea 2-1 Everton

Kalidou Koulibaly is a good player, but he has a panic in him. He is really lucky that his sloppy pass in his own half only leads to a blocked Ellis Simms shot.

  5. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 84 mins

    Chelsea 2-1 Everton

Everton send on Vitalii Mykolenko for the remaining six minutes. Seamus Coleman is off.

  6. Postpublished at 82 mins

    Chelsea 2-1 Everton

Brilliant work from Conor Gallagher to get away from a group of players on the left. He can't get a cross in past the Everton defence, though. The ball also bounces back off him and goes behind for a goal-kick.

  7. Postpublished at 81 mins

    Chelsea 2-1 Everton

    Close!

Everton do still have some menace in them. Dwight McNeil fires a low angled shot that runs across the face of goal and just past the far post.

I've seen Simms play, the raw material is all there. He's got the physicality, he's got the speed, he's certainly got the height. He's got a good attitude towards the game as well.

He needs to come up to this level to try and score goals for Everton Football Club.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 80 mins

    Chelsea 2-1 Everton

Mateo Kovacic is replaced by Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Do Everton have another big moment in them? They have just over 10 minutes to find it.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 78 mins

    Chelsea 2-1 Everton

Idrissa Gueye is taken off and in his place comes forward Ellis Simms. A bit of attacking intent from Sean Dyche.

  12. 'Quality penalty from Havertz'published at 19:07 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2023

    Chelsea 2-1 Everton

    Pat Nevin
Former Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

Real quality with that penalty. Havertz does a few little steps, waiting for Pickford to make the move and then he has the wherewithal to be able to put it to his left very comfortably.

Chelsea have decided to up the pace again, just when it looked like they were running out of steam.

What a lift that will give to Havertz

  13. Postpublished at 77 mins

    Chelsea 2-1 Everton

That is Kai Havertz's seventh Premier League goal of the season. More than any other Chelsea player. He has three in his last three games in all competitions.

  14. goal

GOAL - Chelsea 2-1 Evertonpublished at 75 mins

    Kai Havertz

    No mistake!

Kai Havertz stutters in his run, sells Jordan Pickford one way and sends the ball high to the other.

A timely response from Chelsea to being pegged back!

They will have a look at it as they always do. Tarkowski has been on the end of a lot of tackles in this game. Was James offside? That was my first thought.

  16. VAR

Video Assistant Refereepublished at 73 mins

    Chelsea 1-1 Everton

VAR is now checking if Reece James might be offside... or maybe it is to look at the melee of players afterwards that led to a booking for the Chelsea defender?

Whatever it is, it leads to nothing. Kai Havertz will have a chance to restore Chelsea's lead...

  17. PENALTY TO CHELSEApublished at 72 mins

    Chelsea 1-1 Everton

    Another twist!

Reece James is sent spinning to the turf by a clumsy tackle from Ben Godfrey and then an equally clumsy one from James Tarkowski.

The ref takes a little moment to consider... and then points to the spot!

    Chelsea 1-1 Everton

    Alex Howell
    Football reporter at Stamford Bridge

Everything Everton have done today has been organised. They've taken their time over every set piece and that was no different for the goal. When McNeil was about to hit the ball Dyche was still making sure everything was prepared. It will be interesting to see what Chelsea do now.

  19. Postpublished at 71 mins

    Chelsea 1-1 Everton

Kai Havertz looks to restore Chelsea's lead all by himself.

He carries the ball deep into the Everton half, turns back and then fires a low shot that Jordan Pickford saves.

  20. 'Deserved equaliser for Everton'published at 19:00 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2023

    Chelsea 1-1 Everton

    Pat Nevin
Former Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

It's been coming. Chelsea were beginning to look tired. Everton knew what they were doing, they were getting into good areas and they waited for their chances.

It's only inches over but it doesn't matter, it's over and from the balance of play since the goal, Everton have deserved it.
