Vincent Kompany's Burnley helped him mark his 37th birthday in style

That's as far as we go here at the end of a mammoth Easter weekend in the EFL.

Burnley's promotion was confirmed on Friday and today they asserted their dominance over the rest of the division with a 2-0 win over second-placed Sheffield United, who played over 70 minutes with 10 men.

That result keeps the Clarets well on track for the title and 100 points and also keeps third-placed Luton interested in pipping the Blades for second, although it will take some effort from here.

Down in League One, Ipswich conceded a late equaliser at Cheltenham and Plymouth suffered a shock loss by Lincoln to open the door for Sheffield Wednesday to go back to the top with a win over Accrington.

League Two leaders Leyton Orient blew a two-goal lead to draw with lowly Harrogate.

We'll be back with more EFL live text action on Friday.

Thanks for your company tonight and indeed over the course of the Eater weekend.

    Cheers!

Just five points will be enough to see Burnley crowned champions of the second tier but in reality the job's done now for the promoted Clarets.

Second-placed Sheffield United are still firmly in control of how their season finishes up.

The final two play-off spots are very much up for grabs after a mixed set of results for the chasers over the Easter weekend.

It looks like that battle will go to the final day.

Johann Berg Gudundsson is the star turn as the promoted home side celebrate their Premier League return with a comfortable win over the 10-man Blades.

This game was turned on its head in the 17th minute when Wes Foderingham was sent off after 17 minutes for upending Nathan Tella after taking an ill-advised wander out of his goal.

The hosts dominated from thereon but it took until the hour-mark for sub Gudmundsson to break the deadlock.

He got a second to wrap the win up and move Burnley closer to the title on boss Vincent Kompany's 37th birthday.

Sheffield United are second and five points clear of third-placed Luton with a game in hand.

    No reason to panic.

That's as close as the Blades have come in quite some time.

It's just case of keeping players fresh for Paul Heckingbottom now.

    Game over.

    Another deep cross.

Another header across goal from Nathan Tella.

Another crunching finish from Johann Berg Gudmundsson.

This one is more of a mess from the away side it has to be said.

Sub goalkeeper Adam Davies tries to come for the initial ball and doesn't get it, Ashley Barnes then competes for it and it is cleared as far as the sub who gleefully lashes in his second of the night.

    Burnley 1-0 Sheff Utd

Should the 10-man Blades fall to defeat tonight they would be five points clear of third-placed Luton with a game in hand.

They very much have their promotion destiny in their own hands.

Right now you'd suspect boss Paul Heckingbottom might just take a 1-0 loss here, especially with the home side looking like they fancy more.
