Barnsley v Sheff Wed (15:00 BST)

Barnsley certainly had the upper hand over their South Yorkshire rivals this season.

The Tykes claimed a 2-0 win at Hillsborough back in September and then ended the Owls' club-record 23-match unbeaten run with a 4-2 victory at Oakwell in March.

Strikers Devante Cole and James Norwood scored in both games, although the latter will need to do his business from the bench if he is to make it a hat-trick today.

Wednesday have a clear edge in the all-time meetings between the two. They've won 37 to Barnsley's 24, with the remaining 17 finishing all square.

If it ain't broken, don't fix it. Both teams are unchanged.

Barnsley boss Michael Duff goes with the same team that started both legs of the play-off semi-final win over Bolton. The Tykes make one alteration on their bench, Barry Cotter misses out and Robbie Cundy is in.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore keeps faith the XI who overturned the 4-0 first leg deficit to triumph against Peterborough.

Barnsley: Isted; B Thomas, Andersen, Kitching; Williams, Phillips, Connell, Kane, Cadden; Tedic, Cole.

Substitutes: Collins, Russell, Norwood, Benson, L Thomas, Cundy, Watters.

Sheffield Wednesday: Dawson, Iorfa, Ihiekwe, James, Palmer, Paterson, Bannan, Johnson, Windass, Gregory, Smith.

Substitutes: Stockdale, Hunt, Flint, Brown, Adeniran, Dele-Bashiru, Vaulks.

The atmosphere was already building when I arrived here before midday.

Both sets of fans were happily mingling in the sun then, enjoying this South Yorkshire takeover of the capital.

Make no mistake though, neither of these sides are here just for a day out.

Recent history suggests that there really is no time like the present when it comes to play-off finals.

Of the six teams who lost in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 finals, none of them were promoted the following season.
