Manchester City have won all 56 away Premier League games when they've led by two or more goals. Burnley have lost all 11 home Premier League games when trailing by two or more goals.

I think even the most optimistic Burnley fan knows which way this will be going. Still, key as a newly promoted side is probably not to lose heavily to City and, so far, Burnley are doing that while playing some good stuff at times too.

Eddie: With all due respect to the likes of Gabriel Jesus & Kai Havertz, if Arsenal think they can win the Premier League without a specialist No. 9 up front like Haaland, they're not serious title contenders!

Skully: Shearer may be relieved Kane's gone, but Haaland will overtake him in a year or two

Nesta: Haaland is playing fifa on amateur

Pep Guardiola is onto the pitch and over to Erling Haaland as they walk towards the tunnel. Despite two goals, Haaland doesn't exactly look super chuffed.

I fear for Burnley if Haaland comes out angry in the second half.

A couple of lucky escapes in defence for both sides as Dara O'Shea gets a bit lucky with a casual clearance inside his own box before a Rodri backpass almost ends in disaster but Ederson gets across to spare his team-mate's blushes.

Phil Foden breaks clear of the defence as he chases another ball over the top. He looks offside but play continues until he goes down under a challenge inside the box and then the flag goes up.

He was offside, but Burnley are playing a risky game with their man-marking system. They've been almost caught a couple of times.

Good to have football back and the game is exciting and all, but I can’t get over the fact that these are two of the worst kits in Premier League history. Just horrible.

With two goals and Kevin de Bruyne's injury it is a pretty reasonable five minutes added on at the end of the first half.

Ederson goes long, looking for the run of Phil Foden. Dara O'Shea is able to head away but Foden scampers after the loose ball to keep Manchester City in possession.

Erling Haaland has scored 100 goals in Europe's top-five leagues (63 for Borussia Dortmund, 37 for Manchester City) - since his debut in January 2020, only Robert Lewandowski has more (114). He's scored two goals from just three shots and nine touches.

If Haaland continues at this pace for 38 games of 100+ minutes, he will break Shearer's PL goals record this season.

The enthusiasm has been ripped out of this place by that goal machine Erling Haaland.

It's a long way back from here for the home side now. A real baptism of fire on their return to the top tier.

Burnley are very unlucky to be 2-0 down, to not have at least got on the scoresheet.

They just don't have the quality up front.

To be 2-0 down is a bit harsh on Burnley, who have played some really good football in this game and Lyle Foster almost halves the deficit but his first-time strike inside the box is deflected over.

Haaland's hardly been involved in the game but he's got two goals. That's what he does!

A lovely lay-off from Alvarez and Haaland doesn't even look where the goal is, he just knows.

That is why he is the best goalscorer in world football right now.

    Unstoppable!

Fantastic finish by Erling Haaland for his second of the game as he is teed up inside the box by Julián Álvarez and, without even looking at the goal, he sweeps an fierce finish into the back of the net.

He scored a hat-trick in his only other appearance against Burnley and he's on for another now.

Michael: De Bruyne's injury is massive. Just looking at City's squad depth, is it enough if its a long injury?

Worried for de Bruyne. He looked crippled and exhausted at the end last season and the so called off season is nothing like long enough.

Burnley may be losing but they are very much in this with Manchester City struggling to build on that early Erling Haaland goal.

The Premier League champions have not been helped by the loss of Kevin de Bruyne to injury.
