  1. 'Arteta's substitutes paid off'published at 18:22 British Summer Time 8 October 2023

    Arsenal 1-0 Man City

    Peter Schmeichel
Former Manchester United and Manchester City goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

This was a master against his pupil and it was billed as who could do something to break the deadlock.

I have to say, the goal came from Arteta's substitutes.

    Will: Right face, right time.

Anon: That's a bit of karma for City getting away with that Kovacic debacle.

Alan: City are getting what they deserve. They've shown no ambition.

    Arsenal 1-0 Man City

If they hold on to win Arsenal will move two points clear of Manchester City and level on points at the top of the table with Tottenham.

There's still time for some more late drama, however.

  6. 'Ederson couldn't do anything about that'published at 18:18 British Summer Time 8 October 2023

    Arsenal 1-0 Man City

    Peter Schmeichel
Former Manchester United and Manchester City goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

He is on the edge of the box, and he lays it of form Martinelli who, I have to say, is a bit lucky.

The deflection changes the direction and Ederson can't do anything about it.

If anything, I think Arsenal have slightly edged the game.

GOAL - Arsenal 1-0 Man Citypublished at 86 mins

    Gabriel Martinelli

Big deflection to give Arsenal the breakthrough!

Gabriel Martinelli - the half-time substitute - is teed up on the edge of the box by Kai Havertz and his shot takes a huge deflection of Nathan Ake's head to fly into the back of the net.

    Huge noise around the Emirates!

    Arsenal 0-0 Man City

    Peter Schmeichel
Former Manchester United and Manchester City goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

When you want your team to play as tactically as today, when your first priority is not giving anything away, you can't have better player in your team than Declan Rice.

    He has been outstanding today.

Andy: This is two pretty average teams. The league is looking wide open this season.

Alan: Has to be on a par with Palace v Forest as dullest game of the weekend.

Erling Haaland and Matheus Nunes link up well, with the latter driving towards the box after an exchange of passes before his run is cut short by an excellent Declan Rice tackle.

    Arsenal 0-0 Man City

With just one shot on target for either side this has been far from a classic. There's still time for some late drama, however.

    Arsenal 0-0 Man City

    Peter Schmeichel
Former Manchester United and Manchester City goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

This is a great opportunity for him. He has started nearly every game and he has had an opportunity to show what he can do.

To come on and get the winner, that's a great opportunity for him.

As long suffering Spurs fan hit with belief and optimism, inexplicably I suddenly don't want Arsenal to get thrashed. A nice goalless draw so they both drop points leaving us top seems like the ideal result, especially if we plan to win the league (a man can still dream).

How good is Kyle Walker? How quick is he

He is chasing balls, he is keeping the ball, he is making tackles.
