Colin: What a horrible, attritional match this is!? Totalling lacking in quality from both sides! Sleep inducing!

Nas: So much money in the game today, but the football is so boring to watch. Anybody enjoying this? Oh for the days of Ginola, Pires, Duff and many more. Money and robotic tactics have killed the game.

It is a scenario that definitely won't happen as Mateo Kovacic is taken off now along with Rico Lewis and Julian Alvarez.

Hands up if you're going to be slightly miffed when Kovacic scores the winner in the 90th minute...

It feels like it is going to take a moment of quality - or a big mistake - for these two to be separated.

You have the two blocks of four, for both teams. And all they do when they are attacking the blocks is pass it around.

Mark: If these two are the best teams in the league, the Premier league is not as good as everyone thinks it is!! Very poor game!!

Dave: The great Man City looking decidedly average here, and so far so lucky for them. Come on Arsenal!

  8. Guardiola frustratedpublished at 17:52 British Summer Time 8 October 2023

    Arsenal 0-0 Man City

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Emirates Stadium

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has spent a lot of this match with his hands on his hips and shaking his head in frustation as they struggle to break down Arsenal and he is at it again now.

Lots of endeavour in this one but not the quality we would expect.

Some good build up play by Arsenal ends with Gabriel Jesus sneaking past Phil Foden on the right but his cross can't beat Nathan Ake.

Arsenal have a corner, which ends with Oleksandr Zinchenko thumping an effort high, high over the bar as the ball is half cleared.

Manchester City come forward again as Phil Foden rolls the ball into Julian Alvarez's path but his shot is blocked.

A good spell for the visitors at the moment after a strong start to the second half by Arsenal.

Cracking run through the middle by Rico Lewis. He is fouled, the whistle blows for a free kick, but Lewis gets up anyway and drives a shot into the back of the net. It won't count, though, with the whistle having already gone and Arsenal players having stopped in readiness for the set piece.

Again, Pep wants four centre-halves to play the back four. That's his new thing and it's interesting.

So Zinchenko came here and he is playing really well, and Jesus came too.

I don't believe for a second that what we've seen from city in past 2 years is down to Rodri. City look lost, toothless and are there for the taking. I wish they churn out this performance against my team. Arsenal could walk away with 3 points quite easily if they were a bit braver.

Gabriel Martinelli has definitely added a bit of energy to the Arsenal attack since coming on. He makes a run into the box and Gabriel Jesus tries to pick him out, but there's too much on his pass and it goes out for a goal kick.
