Nonsense yellow for Maguire and should have had a penalty in the first half. Not impressed with the ref.

  3. 'Struggling for form'published at 18:48 British Summer Time 9 September 2023

    Ukraine 1-1 England

    Matt Upson
Former Arsenal defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Mudryk is really struggling to find form at the moment.

He's had a bumpy ride at Chelsea, he was flying before the move but he just doesn't look like he's got the idea of what he wants to do at the moment.

He looked fine in the warm-up but in the game it's just not happening.

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 90+1 min

    Ukraine 1-1 England

Midfielder Yehor Nazaryna is on for his international debut for Ukraine, replacing Mykhailo Mudryk.

England’s play too slow and pedestrian. Passes are to feet not to space so Ukraine defence can keep tight and are not being stretched

How did England go from beating North Macedonia 7-0 to this? The attacking players just haven’t shown up today.

  6. Postpublished at 88 mins

    Ukraine 1-1 England

Kyle Walker has had Mykhailo Mudryk in his back pocket in this game and the latter cramps up as he tries to turn the England man.

I think that's going to be it for Mudryk.

  7. 'No malice from Maguire'published at 18:43 British Summer Time 9 September 2023

    Ukraine 1-1 England

    Matt Upson
Former Arsenal defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Maguire had every right to go for the ball, he's in the right spot.

A yellow card is crazy. He has to go for that ball, he could get there first and there is no malice in that.

The goalkeeper got there first but it's not a yellow card.

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 86 mins

    Ukraine 1-1 England

Another change for England as Bukayo Saka is replaced by Conor Gallagher for the final few minutes.

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 85 mins

    Ukraine 1-1 England

Decent from Marcus Rashford as he whips the ball towards the far post. Heorhii Bushchan pushes away but England keep the attack alive as Harry Maguire almost gets onto Jordan Henderson's flick through a crowd of players, but he catches Bushchan's knee and is booked.

  10. Postpublished at 83 mins

    Ukraine 1-1 England

Marcus Rashford win a free kick off Yukhym Konoplya on the left side of the Ukraine box and England have a free kick in a dangerous position here.

  11. Postpublished at 81 mins

    Ukraine 1-1 England

Mykhailo Mudryk tries to take on Kyle Walker but the England full-back uses his strength to hold off Mudryk as he tries to charge into the box.

Superb defending by the Manchester City man.

  12. Postpublished at 80 mins

    Ukraine 1-1 England

Into the final 10 minutes. Will either side find a winner? It doesn't feel like one is forthcoming...

  13. Postpublished at 77 mins

    Ukraine 1-1 England

Into the closing stages now as Phil Foden gives away a free kick. A good chance for Ukraine to get a dangerous ball into the box but Mykhailo Mudryk's delivery is too close to Jordan Pickford.

  14. 'Ukraine weaker without Zinchenko'published at 18:34 British Summer Time 9 September 2023

    Ukraine 1-1 England

    Matt Upson
Former Arsenal defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Zinchenko has been a prominent figure in this game, everything Ukraine have done in the final third has gone through him.

I'm not sure if it was a planned substitution because he's been so important and his exit makes Ukraine weaker.

Ah yes, take off Real Madrid’s best player but keep on his Al-Ettifaq counterpart who plays in the same position. Unbelievable.

Lu E: England are never going to win anything when Saka and Kane have to do everything themselves! Side note, how is Hendo still on the pitch!

  16. Postpublished at 18:33 British Summer Time 9 September 2023

    Ukraine 1-1 England

    Alex Howell

Zinchenko has been very good this evening. He's covered so much ground and a lot of Ukraine's good play has gone through him. He gets a huge ovation as he is substituted.

Another change for England as goalscorer Oleksandr Zinchenko goes off and he is given a superb standing ovation.

Must be honest, having a Scottish wife, I'm much more bothered about Maddison and Bellingham tearing it up on Tuesday night. The bragging rights with the in-laws will be so sweet.

  20. 'Rashford gets the ball'published at 18:29 British Summer Time 9 September 2023

    Ukraine 1-1 England

    Matt Upson
Former Arsenal defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think Rashford gets a good chunk of the ball and then follows through to catch Mudryk, which is why he's still down.

England were almost able to pounce on the counter.
