That's your lot for tonight, folks!

After a hectic day for Crystal Palace they return home having earned a potentially very valuable point at Goodison Park.

For Everton, a point is two less than they were after but it is enough to take them out of the bottom three on goal difference.

You can read Marissa Thomas' report from the match here.

We'll be back tomorrow evening as Manchester City take on Brentford, trying to close the gap to Premier League leaders Liverpool - make sure you join us for that one!

  2. 'Second half was much more what we should be'published at 22:41 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February

    FT: Everton 1-1 Crystal Palace

    Everton

Everton Boss Sean Dyche, speaking to Sky Sports: "First half, to be fair to the players, they've got a new manager sitting in the stands, we all know how that often works so fair play to Palace, they had that sharpness and a bit of edge about them.

"Second half, they found a great goal out of a nothing moment and we responded very well to that. We were on the front foot, asking questions, creating chances in general play.

"We looked a threat from set piece, which we finally scored from and I thought second half was a much better display."

On nervy atmosphere: "Sometimes it's a mentality, the hardest fight to win is the one that everyone thinks you should. We've got to grow with that.

"In my short time here and some of the players have been here a long time, the crowd do expect a lot but you've got to row towards that and there were signs in the second half that we did.

"It was 'let's be braver in possession, ask more questions of the opposition'. We let in a bad goal from our point of view, goal from theirs, a clean strike but there was a lot of good in that second half.

"Our mentality has been key the last few weeks and will be going forward."

On Dominic Calvert-Lewin chances: "He's working hard at his game, he's getting stronger by the week in key areas. That's all I want to do is see him in key areas because the hardest thing to do is put it in the net.

"He's delivering strong performances. First half wasn't right but the second half was much more what we should be."

On appeal against points deduction: "I don't know the dates, we're just waiting. For the good of football, I think it needs to be speedier for everyone.

"I don't think anyone wants them dragged out, whatever it's going to be, let's get on with.

"It's not in my hands, though. Who knows [when we'll find out]."

  3. 'Glasner is coming into a squad with a lot of character'published at 22:36 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February

    FT: Everton 1-1 Crystal Palace

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace assistant Manager Paddy McCarthy, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was a wonderful goal by Jordan Ayew, but we couldn't hold on. We knew Everton would hold us to some questions from set plays and I am disappointed we conceded, but ultimately we are happy with the point and we move on."

On Oliver Glasner being in the stands: "There is lots of quality and he is coming into a squad with a lot of character, there is lots of positives he will have seen and I am sure he cannot wait to get to work with them."

On players trying to impress Glasner: "I can't say if it did or didn't. I am sure they were aware he was watching on, the players are professional and they deserve a lot of credit.

"The players are flexible and we utilised that system against Man City and Man Utd away, I am sure he will enjoy working with this great group of lads."

On him remaining at Palace: "Listen, it has been full focus on preparing for the game and I have not had any conversation with the hierarchy on my position - I am sure that will become clear in the next couple of days."

It was another frustrating night for Dominic Calvert-Lewin. He missed a couple of very presentable chance as his wait for a goal goes on.

The Everton striker has had more shots (16) and has the highest xG total (2.16) of any player who is yet to score a Premier League goal in 2024.

Jordan Ayew scored a beauty for Crystal Palace and four of their last five Premier League goals have been scored from outside the box.

That's the joint most of any side in 2024 so far – with none of Palace’s previous 26 goals prior to this run coming from distance.

The stats may say Everton had the best of it but we were extremely poor throughout the game. So many players unable to do the basics and utterly lacking in skill. Don't forget we were at home, under the lights, against a manager-less relegation rival.

Everton defender James Tarkowski, speaking to Sky Sports. On getting a point: "After being 1-0 down we would have taken it, set pieces were important but I would have liked to score more from them. Disappointed with it, but we will take the point."

On Palace: "They went with three at the back, when we got the ball wide and the delivery wasn't on point they outnumbered us a bit."

On being a threat himself: "We work on it a fair bit and it is always an opportunity when we get in the box, we have lads that get themselves in good areas and we just attack it.

"I told Amadou Onana I was going to get in the way of a man to make more space so he could get his head on it."

On points deduction: "The manager has been excellent and we had time off when it was announced, we got back in and had a quick meeting and parked it.

"We parked it really quickly, it has been a difficult run but we have picked up a few points so hopefully there is some wins on the way.

"The manager is very good at focusing us on the pitch and nobody really knows what is going to happen - time will tell."

Scrappy indeed. I only watched parts, & as an Aston Villa fan I can sit pretty in fourth, with more points than both of these teams combined, & criticise, but they are scrapping. However, being so high up, you forget how poor some Premier League teams are; Ayew, three PL goals?!

The stats were even at half-time but they are heavily in favour of Everton at full-time.

They had nearly 63% possession, 19 shots to Palace's 11 and had an xG of 1.66 to 0.62 for the visitors.

For Palace, it is now 14 games without a clean sheet.

As scrappy as it was, we looked better after going a goal down. Onwards or upwards depending upon the ruling in regards to the points deduction.

Not the result they wanted but Everton are out of the relegation zone.

They're above Luton on goal difference. They'll hope to be level with Crystal Palace - currently five points ahead - or better once the result of their appeal against the 10-point deduction comes through.

Only time will tell on that front.

Jordan Ayew opened the scoring for Crystal Palace with a superb strike from the corner of the box.

Everton pushed and pushed for an equaliser. It finally came when Amadou Onana headed in from a corner.

A useful point at the end of a hectic day for Crystal Palace. Something for new manager Oliver Glasner to build on when he takes charge of his first game at the weekend.

So we're set up for a good finish. Palace have played much better, but their record of conceding late and from set pieces is a worrying sign.
