A half of very few chances, but Dominic Calvert-Lewin's header is by far the best chance of this half.

Much in fitting with the first 45 minutes, the free-kick is overhit and lacking in quality.

That ends a half of football that definitely happened - and that is perhaps the best thing you can say about it.

One minute added on. I'm not sure anyone was particularly keen for much more than that.

Jordan Ayew sums up this first-half, or at least the last 10 minutes of it, in one short moment.

He twists and turns to get away from a couple of challenges and surges towards the Everton box... before putting in a floaty, nothing ball that Everton can clear.

A nearly moment in a half littered with them.

Well it's not a beautiful game at the moment, but a real scrap.

This game has suddenly come to life, at least in terms of the pace, if not the quality.

It is all a bit of a mess as the sides take it in turns to turn and counter on each other before Jean-Phillipe Mateta's shot is blocked and the ball loops up kindly for Jordan Pickford.

Off the line!

The ball is floated to the back post and Jean-Philippe Mateta rises highest.

His header is on target but Ashley Young is there to hack it off the line.

Boos ring around Goodison Park after the referee fails to award a free-kick for what they believe was a foul on Dwight McNeil by Adam Wharton.

To add to the home crowd's fury, Palace go down the other end and win a corner.

Chance for Palace!

A brilliant passing move involving all of the front three before the ball is played out to Daniel Munoz.

He lays it off to Jefferson Lerma but the ball is bouncing awkwardly and his shot flies well over the top.

Come on, Dave. Still plenty of time left. We could yet be treated to a classic...

Free-kick to Crystal Palace in a promising position wide on the left as Tyrick Mitchell is tripped.

Everton clear the initial ball in but Palace regain possession and keep the pressure on, throwing the ball back into the box.

The home side are able to repel them each time, though.

Everton are just turning up the pressure and Vitalii Mykolenko puts another tempting cross into the box.

Ben Godfrey looks to be coming onto it at the back post but Ashley Young diverts it away from his team-mate.

You can only think that Young didn't hear a shout from Godfrey.

Everton have a free-kick in a good position, just outside the penalty area after Jefferson Lerma trips Dominic-Calvert-Lewin.

What can they make of this?

Crystal Palace attempt a ball over the top this time and Jordan Pickford gives the Everton fans a scare as he runs out and miscues his clearance into the shins of Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Thankfully for the Toffees, the ball ricochets out for a throw-in.

For Dominic Calvert-Lewin that is an easy chance, the pace was on the ball and when you have not scored in 17 games those feel a lot more difficult.
