Lap 44/70
Ah, you have to feel for Alonso. He's sounded thoroughly disillusioned all season - has that just taken him a step closer to the Indy 500?
Vettel wins, Hamilton 5th after Ricciardo leapfrogs him in pit stop
Hamilton reported power problems early on
Stroll and Hartley crash heavily on lap one - both out

Ferrari: We are not concerned with the brake temperature so ignore the alarm, ignore the alarm.
Lap 43/70
Bad news for Fernando Alonso, who has to return to the garage. What a way to mark your 300th Grand Prix.
Sebastian Vettel has led from pole - remember that Ferrari have not won in Canada since Michael Schumacher in 2004. Vettel, who started the day 14 points behind Lewis Hamilton in the title race, is looking very good for his first win in five races.
Lap 41/70
Left groundhog: "Not quite as dramatic as I hoped, this race - especially after that start."
Middle groundhog: "Know what you mean. Can't see Vettel letting this slip."
Right groundhog: "I've got Inspector Morse on DVD if you're interested."

A nice pitstop from Sebastian Vettel.
Right, everyone has now pitted - here are the front runners:
1) VET
2) BOT +5.608
3) VER +11.218
4) RIC +14.997
5) HAM +17.452
6) RAI +18.799
Will that be the order in which they finish, do you think?
Looked smooth for Vettel - he comes out 5.6 seconds ahead of Bottas.
Lap 37/70
Sebastian Vettel comes in to pit too...
Sara Bampton: Boring race, (the second race in a row) we need a safety car.
Rob Elmore: Anyone else thinking Hamilton is losing motivation?
Sam: I'm not sure if this Canada GP is any more exciting than Monaco with the procession driving.
Mercedes: "It's hammer time."
Hamilton: "I'm giving it everything, man."

Ferrari have the advantage, Sebastian Vettel has taken four poles this season, Hamilton only two and one for Daniel Ricciardo. It is different for Lewis Hamilton compared to different seasons but his team-mate is second.
Lap 37/70
Kimi Raikkonen, trying to chase down Lewis Hamilton, has just set the fastest lap of the race - 1:15.026. Seabstian Vettel's lead over Valtteri Bottas is now more than six seconds.
Bottas finally comes in to pit.
Jeremiah Kariuki: Either Hamilton or Mercedes is making bad calls. The strategy for early pit stops seems to have backfired and may drop him down further. His mood possibly also not helping it.
Alix: This race is nearly as boring and processional as Monaco, fix these tyres! Fix these boring races!
Craig: What has happened to Mercedes since that crazy pace in Australia qualifying?! Anyone care to tell them they can stop sandbagging now?
Lap 34/70
Kimi Raikkonen comes into pit - on the way out, Lewis Hamilton is racing to try to stay ahead of the Finn, but Sergey Sirotkin almost gets in the way. Hamilton stays cool and gets just ahead of Raikkonen. The Mercedes man is up to fifth., Vettel and Bottas, the top two, still to pit.
Lap 33/70
1) VET
2) BOT +4.085
3) RAI +18.635
4) VER +30.165
5) RIC +34.105
6) HAM +36.098
Lap 32/70
"Why did we pit so early?"
Hamilton is told it was to deal with a power issue.
Loser92: Come on Lewis! You’re the best driver in the worst car, but sheer talent can see you to victory here.
Liam Donoghue: Boring Procession again. Nobody can run constantly within 1s to get DRS. Maybe it should be 2s... At least then it could be used to close and then pass. Or maybe we should just stop watching boring processions..
Lap 31/70
Esteban Ocon, in 10th, makes a bid to overtake Romain Grosjean - but the Frenchman defends well. Very decent first portion of the race for Grosjean - who has yet to score a championship point this season.
