Europe need to make some birdies, it's no good making pars in fourballs. We need to see some fireworks here.
Europe up
Justin Rose is just hovering above all the hurly-burly going on below him. The Englishman hauls in another birdie to move two holes up on Bubba Watson and Matt Kuchar who are playing at pretty close to full throttle themselves.
Six birdies for Rose so far in this round.
Alistair from Stannington on text: The USA may be one of the most wealthy and dominant countries in the world but their golf clothing is the worst ever. It's embarrassing that they're being dressed by what seems to be a five year old....
Europe down
The match spins on a sixpence on the par-three 10th.
Rory McIlroy went close with his tee-shot and a three hole lead beckoned for Europe.
Rickie Fowler chipped straight in from the sand, the Northern Irishman dribbled his attempt to halve the hole just by the trapdoor.
United States back to one under and the matchplay format kicking like a mule, delivering its usual punch.
Europe up
Neither Jimmy Walker or Rickie Fowler can make good on their birdie chances on nine and Rory McIlroy makes them pay, putting away a tiddler to move he and Ian Poulter two up.
The Northern Irishman world number one is starting to sparkle.

This is maybe the best golf I've seen in my four Ryder Cups, the roars, the momentum switches, the crowds.
Saturday's fourballs latest scores:
Rose & Stenson v Watson & Kuchar - Europe 1UP after 12
Donaldson & Westwood v Furyk & Mahan - USA 3UP after 11
Bjorn & Kaymer v Reed & Spieth - USA 2UP after 10
McIlroy & Poulter v Walker & Fowler - Europe 2UP after 9
USA up
It would be a brave decision for Tom Watson to drop them for the afternoon now. Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed edge two up on Thomas Bjorn and Martin Kaymer and Spieth especially is playing top-drawer stuff.
Jamie Donaldson sends a putt downstairs, but Hunter Mahan matches him. Is there enough golf left to overhaul the Americans before the finishline. The meter is ticking...
Now then Rory, what have you got for us? A long-range eagle putt on nine curls just a little too late despite Ian Poulter's barked commands to 'break'. Still he has left it close enough to put the pressure on Jimmy Walker and Rickie Fowler who have more to do for their birdies.
biju chudasama:, external Will be balanced at the end of the first session. Afternoon could be interesting.
William Galbraith:, external Forget Rory, J Rose is carrying this European side.
Paolo Brand:, external @RyderCupUSA playing out of their skin holing everything right now, but @rydercupEUROPE weathering the storm...b
Europe up
Benny and Bjorn, Agnetha and Anni-Fried will want some royalties.
That Abba reworking gets another outing as Henrik Stenson reads the runes on the green and sends his birdie putt down the chute. Matt Kuchar can't match him and looks rueful as his match turns blue on the board for the first time today.
Always time for a bit of Abba - especially when Swede Henrik Stenson is in action.
Watch Ryder Cup choir 'The Guardians of the Cup' join BBC Radio 5 live for a karaoke session in honour of Stenson here.
All together now: 'Thank you for Henrik Stenson, for the golf you're playing...."
Rory McIlroy on the par-five ninth, grips and rips out of the second cut of rough and muscles his approach all the way up to the green. Just short of the top deck where the pin is positioned, but he is leading the race up one of the long holes.
His distance hitting is starting to pay. Just as well as Ian Poulter is not lending a lot of support on this one, misjudging his club selection and coming up short.
Saturday's fourballs latest scores:
Rose & Stenson v Watson & Kuchar - A/S after 11
Donaldson & Westwood v Furyk & Mahan - USA 3UP after 10
Bjorn & Kaymer v Reed & Spieth - USA 1UP after 9
McIlroy & Poulter v Walker & Fowler - Europe 1UP after 8
USA up
Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed are nibbling away at Thomas Bjorn and Martin Kayner. The fresh-faced Spieth has shown a youthful fearlessness on the greens and gobbles up a three-footer to put he and his partner one up at the turn.
Lee Westwood and Jamie Donaldson are throwing their weight into their match, but so far they have not managed to budge Jim Furyk and Hunter Mahan from a lead they took on the first hole.
steel1404:, external Was there yesterday, Rose impressed me most - smooth as silk, Stenson wins the award for being the coolest.
Carl Dunne:, external Don't think I've seen Jimenez in a photo or live yet without a cigar in hand. he just need a glass of Rioja out on the course
Jimenez is of course Miguel Angel, European Tour golfer and three-times a Ryder Cup player who has his vice-captain's hat on this week for Paul McGinley.

Sean, Edinburgh: The Americans are made of soft stuff, they are dressed more for Arctic weather. Whilst locals will be pondering over shorts and flip flops! Go Europe!
Paul Halfpenny: Golf not a hobby or pastime (in response to Michael Allen - 0927), much more like the Scottish martial art...

There's something very 1970s about the US jumper this morning, it's very Tom Watson. You could almost imagine it in FAME.
Stuart from Sutton Coldfield on text: The crowd needs to get Poulter going and get those Medinah eyes bulging. A rendition of Lady Gaga's 'Poulter Face' might help!
