    Grace -1

If you are a Branden Grace fan I'd be a little concerned at his drive on one. It goes as left as left can be and ends up on an adjacent fairway. Ugly, he points left with his club.

Grace of course went close last year but went out of bounds on the 16th when he was right in the mix.

  2. Going longpublished at 20:09 British Summer Time 19 June 2016

    Day +2 (1)

Here we go, Jason Day is trying to drive the second green, a par four no less. It's a little short but he can chip and putt for birdie perhaps.

  3. 62 watch?published at 20:08 British Summer Time 19 June 2016

    Koepka (E) 11

And he's just crushed a drive down 12 which is a par five. Are we on 62 watch?

No one has shot a 62 in a major championship. Every time we get close on these live texts something goes wrong.

    Over to you Brooks...

  4. Bogey for Daypublished at 20:06 British Summer Time 19 June 2016

    Day +2 (1), DeChambeau E (1)

You may have seen Bryson DeChambeau's issues with a domestic iron this morning, have a look at our 19:52 BST entry.

Anyway, Bryson is on point where it matters. His putt on one is travelling and if it misses he's going to have a real tester, it rolls around in the cup though, well in Bryson.

Jason Day goes from bunker to rough, then chips to leave 15ft on the green but can't make par. Not the start for the world number one.

    Garcia E (20:00 BST)

Sergio Garcia has just rattled a drive down the first fairway and it runs and runs and runs. That's what he wanted.

    Koepka E (11)

Right, can someone please tackle Brooks Koepka and take him away. This type of play is almost too good.

He follows eagle on 10 with a hole out from 30ft on 11 and another shot gained.

He's still seven off the lead, but if he could post a clubhouse score of -3 or -4 it could be interesting.

    Scott +1 (3)

    Adam ScottImage source, AP

Adam Scott joins the list of players on one over par with a 32ft putt on the third.

Who said he's miss the anchored putter since it was outlawed?

Scott, Koepka, Zach Johnson, Kevin Na, Jim Furyk and Jason Day are all one over. They are poised but an attack of real ferocity is needed if they are to land this one.

  8. Lowry looking to the futurepublished at 19:55 British Summer Time 19 June 2016

Shane Lowry has had time for a quick chat with Sky Sports on his way to the range.

“I’m a little bit nervous," he conceded. "I can’t wait to hit the first tee shot and get going.

"I’ve had lovely texts off Padraig Harrington and Graeme McDowell.

"I’ve pictured myself winning and holding the trophy. That’s the way I am. I like to visualise things.”

  9. Day tees offpublished at 19:55 British Summer Time 19 June 2016

    Day +1

Jason Day is using an iron off the first tee. The world number one gets the build up he deserves and the galleries are loving it as they look on at this golfing professor.

He studies the line, swings away and that ball is moving right to left... sand.

Day made his move closer yesterday but he really needs a rapid start. Sand, no thank you...

    Westwood -2 (20:20 BST)

Lee Westwood is putting away on the practice green. He's in green today with white pants. Is it just me or has Westy shed some timber? He's been on the Darren Clarke diet has he?

  11. Too much ironpublished at 19:52 British Summer Time 19 June 2016

    DeChambeau +1 (19:50 BST)

Bryson DeChambeau - the young American who has all his clubs the same length you may recall - has had a bad start to the day.

He's gone too heavy with an iron. A domestic iron that is, not a golfing one.

  12. What a shot!published at 19:49 British Summer Time 19 June 2016

    Koepka +1 (10)

Someone on the course is sending a signal to the masses, he is taming Oakmont and telling those to follow that there's a score out there.

What a shot from Brooks Koepka on the 472-yard par four 10th.

From 108 yards the young American wedges one straight in for eagle and five under for the day. He is absolutely steaming in.

  13. Lowry's stalled startpublished at 19:46 British Summer Time 19 June 2016

    Lowry -7 (20:30 BST)

Shane Lowry will want everything to go well, so the fact his golf buggy wouldn't start to take him from the clubhouse to practice area is hardly a good sign.

The gent driving it is stepping on the accelerator frantically and turning keys... it's off and running in the end, much to Lowry's pleasure as he smiles away.

    Johnson +1, Streelman +2

The Open champion Zach Johnson is about to tee off alongside fellow American Kevin Streelman.

Johnson is what I like to call a grinder. The type of man who doesn't hit it too far but he finds a way to get the business done.

  15. Shine on me, just once...published at 19:43 British Summer Time 19 June 2016

    Westwood -2 (20:20 BST)

I love this photo. Absolutely beautiful.

Light shining in on a man who must just wish lady luck, fate, karma, call it what you will, can shine in on him for one glorious Sunday.

Lee Westwood has placed in the top 10 at 18 major championships. That's incredible in itself but to be in the top three nine times is something else.

The classic bridesmaid on the big Sundays. Can Westy finally do it?

At 20:00 BST you can listen to live coverage from Oakmont on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra.

Then from 22:00 BST, the big dog comes out, you'll have to switch on to 5 live.

Iain Carter will commentate in his usual expert way, Jay Townsend provides the analysis.

  17. Bogey for Spiethpublished at 19:37 British Summer Time 19 June 2016

    McDowell +6 (5), Spieth +5 (5), Moore +7 (15)

As Ryan Moore holes out from off the green on 15 to move back to seven over it's an ugly tee shot on six for Jordan Spieth, clean into the sand trap. What's his sand wedge like? Average. That''s be 15ft for par.

Graeme McDowell alongside him took a double-bogey six on the fifth to ruin some solid work earlier in the round.

Spieth is off line with the par putt and that will be bogey at best, maybe even double. This time last year he looked unflappable, now it's a young man with a confused look on his face.

  18. What a shot!published at 19:32 British Summer Time 19 June 2016

    Oosthuizen +3 (6)

Oh Louis Oosthuizen, you cheeky devil you.

After that huge slice of luck to miss the bunker he makes a putt from the heavens on six. It's a full 20ft, he aims possibly 10ft left of the cup and just lets the ball curl back dramatically into the hole. What a read, what weight.

The big movers today if you are just joining us are David Lingmerth, Matt Kuchar and Brooks Koepka, who are all two under for their rounds.

It's hardly huge scoring which perhaps shows us how good the Shane Lowry lead is.

    Johnston +12 (16)

    Andrew JohnstonImage source, AP

Andrew Johnston, nicknamed 'Beef', is struggling a little on 12 over but he just strikes us as the type of bloke who will not get too down about it.

A long, snaking putt just lacks pace and he hunches over in frustration. A couple of holes to go for the man from Barnet.

To me, Johnston has the look of a man who would make an impressive bad guy in WWE.
