    Moore (-1)

Ryan Moore is best remembered for justifying his surprise pick in the US Ryder Cup team last year by holing the winning putt.

So he's a man for the big occasion.

Now he's tearing up Augusta to sit on the shoulder of the leaders. Three birdies today, without a single blemish, after 14 holes have moved Moore on to one under par.

Be honest. Who stuck a fiver on Charley Hoffman last night? Ooops.

  4. Bogey for Hoffmanpublished at 17:28 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Hoffman (-5)

Anyone know a mechanic? Charley Hoffman needs one to stop the wheels falling off.

The shock overnight leader has dropped another shot! That's three bogeys on the bounce, a five-shot lead shrinking to just two.

The American duffs a chip on the eighth, the ball ending up just 20 yards further ahead. We've all done it.

His fourth finds the green, a couple of putts resulting in a six on the par five.

  5. McIlroy on the movepublished at 17:26 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    McIlroy (-1 after six holes)

    Iain Carter
BBC Radio 5 live at Augusta

Rory McIlroy is building on yesterday’s tenacious display despite a couple of early second-round bogeys.

The world number two has chipped in for birdie at the par-three sixth to pick up a second successive shot.

It moves him to one under par and into a share of fourth place and now only four shots off the lead. He is looking dangerous.

  6. Birdie for McIlroypublished at 17:23 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    McIlroy (-1 after 6)

There is something about the good work that Rory McIlroy is doing that stands out. He puts his tee shot close on the par-three sixth and makes no mistake. There's something about his play, he just seems to be lurking and the good touch is obvious. A gear change and he could make massive strides into this leaderboard....

Former world number one Luke Donald posts on Instagram:  "Throwback to my 1st Masters in 2005 with my bro on the bag! I remember walking off the 9th green and over hearing a lady in the crowd say "that guy looks like he dressed as a carrot" - made me chuckle! Hey nothing wrong in standing out with some bright threads and backing it up with some good golf (finished 3rd that year)

"Really disappointed not being at Augusta this year, but adamant to earn my way back for next years Masters."

  8. The bogey menpublished at 17:20 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Lowry (+4 after 7), Watson (+6 after 4)

There are a lot of bogey holes out there today and both Bubba Watson and Shane Lowry seem intent on finding them.

Watson carded bogey on his first four holes, Lowry has managed four by the seventh hole.

  9. Bogey for McGirtpublished at 17:19 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    McGirt (-2)

Not the way to end. Surprise contender William McGirt spoils his scorecard with a bogey on the last.

The 37-year-old from South Carolina signs for a one-over 73, which leaves him on his lonesome in third as it stands.

    He's the clubhouse leader.

  10. Bogey for Westwoodpublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Garcia (-3), Westwood (E)

Over on the sixth, Sergio Garcia keeps his challenge going with another par. Not such good news for his playing partner Lee Westwood...

Westy is in reverse. Literally - on the leaderboard and on the course. His second shot on the par-three sixth, a putt up the slope from the fringe, comes back down and ends up further behind than where he started.

He has another stab, giving it some extra beef, then taps in for a four.

That's his third bogey of the day and drops him back into tied eighth.

  11. Danny in trouble...published at 17:13 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Willett +6 (after 11)

    willettImage source, .

The last time a defending champion missed the cut in the Masters was Canada's Mike Weir in 2004.

Will Danny Willett take that record today? He's currently 12 off the lead as a par putt on 11 doesn't threaten the cup.

    The projected cut is +4*.

*Only the top 50 and those within 10 shots of the lead make the cut.

Rich J: Played in a Pro-am a long time ago with my Dad & Ray Clemence. Dad (off 11) had a pair of brand new varifocal glasses & took his usual enormous lash at the ball on first tee. Missed it completely about three times before shanking it violently just missing Ray, before landing in the lake. Hilarious for us mortals, less so for Ray who was a proper sportsman!!

Paul Grainger: 1st tee Junior Captain's Day Ballymena 1986. Came off the toe of the driver, nearly decapitated the starter Mr Rained, cleared the putting green fence, one bounce on the pavement and in through the pro's shop door. Had to declare an unplayable lie.

    McGirt (-3)

Steady as a dependable family car. That's how William McGirt's round has been. Like a Volvo. Even steven, now he's going up the last. And he's on the green for two...

    McIlroy (-1 after 5)

    McIlroyImage source, Getty Images

Not for the first time today, Rory McIlroy drives into the trees. On this par-four fifth hole he is wide right of the fairway but pulls out a miracle shot to leave a mid-range putt for birdie. What a steal this would be.... YES. A superb bit of resistance and back into red numbers, just five back as Hoffman blunders...

  15. Bogey for Hoffmanpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Hoffman (-6)

Is this the wobble? Charley Hoffman drops another shot on the par-four seven.

The American tears his drive off into the trees on the right, recovering to stick his ball just short of the green.

His chip goes long past the flag, a knock back and a putt ending in a bogey.

That's two on the bounce for the world number 52...

  16. Willett's shocker on the firstpublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

One lad at my old golf club started calling me Ravi when I was a kid. Why? Because I had a particularly bad case of the shanks. Ravi? Ravi Shankar...

So it was rather pleasing to see Danny Willett shanking one earlier on the first.

The Masters have caught the moment the defending champion quadruple-bogeyed the first in his second round on Friday.

    Willett (+5)

Boy did Danny Willett need that birdie. In case you've just joined us, the defending champion started with a snowman on the first. That's an EIGHT. AKA a quadruple bogey. The sort of number we all regularly write on our cards on a Saturday morning.

  19. Birdie at last!published at 16:58 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Willett (+5 after 10), Watson (+5 after 4)

A first birdie of the day for Danny Willett draws a wry smile. The defending champion is in deep danger of missing the cut.

He made mince meat of the 495-yard 10th though, firing an iron to within seven feet and rolling home. If you're late to the party, he posted an EIGHT on the first.

Bubba Watson also having a miserable day, kicking off bogey-bogey-bogey to drop to five over.

Patrick in London: Waited six months to arrive and play the No 1 rated course in South Africa, "The Links" at Fancourt on holiday in January. Out there with girlfriend and her family. They and the friendly caddies expecting/hoping for some good golf. The first hole was a par 3 and I dunched it into the bush six feet in front of me. Played a mulligan and hit exactly the same shot ...... My girlfriend knocks it to eight feet. That set the tone for the rest of the round.

    Bet the caddies loved that.
