    Spieth +2 (5)

The rain is coming down steadily now, driven in by a gusting wind. Some observers at the course insist it will only last for a few minutes but it looks quite heavy at the moment. Another par for Spieth and he remains at two over for the Championship.

    Matsuyama -3 (8)

Hideki Matsuyama was many people's tip having hit a 61 to win the WGC Invitational last week. He's birdied the fifth and seventh today to move to three under. He's in with a chance, definitely. The Japanese player is one of four players currently at -3.

Chris Stroud was at that point but he's moved to -4 with a great swinging putt for birdie on his first hole of the day. Meanwhile, Thorbjorn Olesen has let one slip. A missed putt and he drops back alongside Stroud and Gary Woodland.

JJ Wood has not had much to celebrate. He was +15 going down the last with five bogeys and a triple on his card.

As a result will forgive him for this bow to the crowd with cap and club raised to the crowd after a chip in birdie. It'll be his last shot of the tournament - he won't be around for the weekend...

    Koepka -3 (4), Spieth +2 (4), Garcia +6 (4)

Pars all around for 2017's major winners Spieth, Koepka and Garcia on the par three fourth. Koepka was left with the most difficult putt for his three but he drilled it confidently into the hole.

At the minute the cut line is sitting at +4. That's bad news for Sergio. He needs to turn it on.

    Fox -1 (F)

New Zealand's Ryan Fox has just finished off his round of 66 with a par on the last. That five-under round is the best of anyone so far over the two days.

He'll be feeling a whole lot better too because after a first round 75 he has now snuck in at -1 and well in contention

Here is that putt from Danny Willett I mentioned earlier. He must be wondering whether he's stamped on a black cat and broken two mirrors while sleep walking.

"Iain, we've got work to do".

BBC Radio 5 live are over at Quail Hollow and in the video below Iain Carter gives his views on Jordan Spieth's chance of victory.

I'm not sure Iain was too happy to have his massage interrupted during a rare break...

It was all sunshine as McIlroy et al were out earlier but now the rain - which was forecast - is starting to fall.

What influence will that have on the rest of this second round?

It'll slow up an already lengthy course you'd think but will it soften the greens a little?

  12. Bogey for Spiethpublished at 19:32 British Summer Time 11 August 2017

    Spieth +2 (3)

Here's a really difficult putt for Jordan Spieth on the third green. He's aiming way right of the hole which shows just how much break is in this one.

It hasn't come back as much as the American expected and travels a fair way beyond the cup to make the next one no certainty for par.

Nope. That's not going to drop. It slides left and Spieth lets a shot go.

Not often we see him three-putt.

  13. Olesen gets birdiepublished at 19:25 British Summer Time 11 August 2017

    Olesen -5 (1)

Any suggestions Thorbjorn Olesen was a one-day wonder have been put to rest to now.

A birdie on his first hole of the day takes him to -5 and three behind our leader Kevin Kisner.

That means the Dane is on his own in second, one clear of Gary Woodland in third who has made two pars after an opening birdie.

  14. Kisner keeping coolpublished at 19:22 British Summer Time 11 August 2017

Clubhouse leader Kevin Kisner (-8) on BBC TV: "I'm hitting the ball straight off the tee and that's key for me around here. We've been fortunate not to have rain over the first few days which has shortened the course.

"I'm a big process guy. I'll start worrying about the result with a few holes to go."

  15. Bogey for Willettpublished at 19:22 British Summer Time 11 August 2017

    Willett +3 (2)

Danny Willett's struggles since winning the Masters in 2016 have been well documented but he started with a solid enough two-over-par 73 yesterday.

He's cursing his luck now though as his par putt signs right around the cup on his second hole, the 11th.

He drops a shot and slips to three over.

Rory McIlroy says he still feels in contention.

Conditions are likely to become more difficult this afternoon and anyone who posts a sub-70 score will have put together a hell of a round.

(McIlroy, at two over, is 10 shots behind clubhouse leader Kevin Kisner)

Have a look at this one, Rory's birdie putt at the last and work out how it doesn't drop. A reminder that a second successive 71 leaves the world number four at two over and safely in for the weekend.
