  1. Chasing the leaderpublished at 19:00 British Summer Time 11 August 2017

    -8 Kisner (F); -4 Woodland (1), Olesen

Gary Woodland has picked up an early birdie to join Thorbjorn Olesen in second at four under, four behind clubhouse leader Kisner. Olesen is about to begin his second round as drops of rain begin to fall. No thunder please, we would like to finish this at the scheduled time, which is late enough as it is.

  2. Donald in dangerpublished at 18:56 British Summer Time 11 August 2017

    +7 Donald

A par four for Spieth at the first and he remains at one over but former world number one Luke Donald is unlikely to be here for the weekend, the 39-year-old, now ranked 95th, with two dropped shots and a birdie on each nine in a 73 to close on seven over.

It's not to be for Phil fans this week, Mickelson carding a 74 today to finish 11 over for the Championship. Three birdies at least today for Phil but it will be a big loss for the weekend.

  4. No prizes for Pointspublished at 18:50 British Summer Time 11 August 2017

So Kevin Kisner safely in the hutch at eight under after two rounds of 67 but DA Points, who was only one back at one point, has had successive double bogeys and is only one under.

  5. Under waypublished at 18:43 British Summer Time 11 August 2017

Our evening featured group is the major winners, Sergio Garcia, Brooks Koepka and Open champion Jordan Spieth, seeking to complete that set of all four major titles. Sergio is four over, Spieth one over and Koepka three under and it's all smiles and back slaps as they make their way down the first fairway like three lads on a stag weekend.

    +3 Kuchar; +6 Rose

Rose is going to have to hope for the weather to deteriorate because he has bogeyed the final hole to finish at six over after a round of 72. A 74 for Kuchar and he is three over for the Championship. The projected cut is still four over.

  8. Kisner -8 (17)published at 18:28 British Summer Time 11 August 2017

    Jay Townsend
BBC Radio 5 live golf expert

That's a massive eagle from Kevin Kisner. What do we know about him?

Well, he's from this part of the country - he from over the border in South Carolina and he went to college in Georgia which means he is very used to playing on Bermuda grass.

To do it well takes a certain technique around the greens for chipping and pitching. Kisner has that - he even said yesterday how comfortable he feels out here.

Do I think he will be up there on his own come Sunday? No. But at eight under he will take some catching.

He can go low - he has already shot a 60 this season at the Sony Open in Hawaii, and his form in the past couple of years has been good, winning twice on the PGA Tour and earning more than $7m in prize money.

  10. Three under for Fowlerpublished at 18:26 British Summer Time 11 August 2017

It's an accomplished 70 for Fowler, with that prominent Olympic rings tattoo on his forearm. His halfway total of three under leaves him very handily placed, five shots the current gap to leader Kisner, who has one to play.

  11. Two over for McIlroypublished at 18:24 British Summer Time 11 August 2017

A drive and a wedge for McIlroy at the ninth, his final hole, playing a couple of yards under 500 today. It leaves him with an eight foot putt and the birdie chance hangs over the edge of the cup. He waits, like Sam Torrance at the Belfry all those years ago, but the little white pellet stays above ground. Two over will keep Rory in employment for the weekend though.

    Rose +5 (17)

Have Rose's hopes wilted? A 10-foot birdie chance at the eighth, his penultimate hole, misses on the left and he remains five over, with the projected cut at plus four.

It's hot and humid. The greens are even faster and you are going to have to putt pretty well.

  14. Postpublished at 18:16 British Summer Time 11 August 2017

McIlroy has just hit his drive 365 yards down the middle at the 505-yard par four ninth, his closing hole. I couldn't hit that far in two shots. That drive is 53 yards beyond playing partner Fowler, though the American is five shots better off for the Championship.

  15. Kisner three clearpublished at 18:14 British Summer Time 11 August 2017

    -8 Kisner (16)

What a performance from Kisner. Following on from his first day 67 he has dropped only one shot today and has just eagled the seventh, his 16th, to open a three-shot lead.

  16. Postpublished at 18:10 British Summer Time 11 August 2017

    +5 Rose (16)

But Justin Rose could miss out on the final two rounds, his six foot birdie chance at the par five slides by on the right and he remains five over, one shot the wrong side of the projected cut.

    +2 McIlroy (17)

A 320-yard drive from McIlroy leaves him only 40 yards to the green at the eighth and he pitches to four feet for a second successive birdie. That should be enough to keep him employed for the weekend shouldn't it? One hole to play.
