  1. Bogey for Spiethpublished at 16:38 British Summer Time 6 April 2018

    J Spieth -3 (2)

McIlroy was alongside Spieth and Kuchar. Now it's just Kuch. Spieth's horror start continues as he misses a five-foot putt to save par on the second.

Now we're convinced this is an impostor. Spieth does not miss those. He just doesn't.

Nice from the co-leader Matt Kuchar, he coaxes his second shot to within three feet of the pin and should putt for par - they're proving invaluable amid a mini Spieth collapse a couple of holes behind.

Phil Mickelson has an eight-foot putt to save par though, after failing to find the green with his tee shot.

  3. Birdie for McIlroypublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 6 April 2018

    R McIlroy -4 (3)

We have a new co-leader... Rory McIlroy. The Northern Irishman is tearing out of the blocks. After that opening bogey, he sinks back-to-back birdies thanks to a stunning chip from the left side of the third green. That leaves him with sort of putt you used to try and knock in one-handed as a kid.

He's top of the pops with Spieth and Kuchar.

    J Spieth -4 (1)

Safety first for Spieth as knocks out of the trees on the left side of the par-five second. He trundles one out to about 100 yards in front, then leaves his approach short on the front fringe. Unless his putter turns into a magic wand then the American could be going backwards...

Phil Mickelson's slightly overcooked his tee shot at the par-three fourth. Matt Kuchar sprays one left, leaving Rickie Fowler as the only member of this all-American group to make the green - albeit some 44 feet from the pin.

Can somebody bring back the real Jordan Spieth? The guy pretending to be the overnight leader has just pulled his tee shot into the trees on the second. He's spending more time in there than an Amazonian woodcutter.

What can the salmon-sweatered Matt Kuchar do from the fringes? A little flop towards the flag, and then a short putt for par.

Phil Mickelson has a chance to take a share of the lead here, but he two putts to make par and remain at three under.

  8. Double bogey for Lipublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 6 April 2018

    H Li +1 (7)

Haotong LI started the day at three under. He's now one over through seven. A double bogey for the 22-year-old sees him fall from the leading pack.

As you were for Rors. McIlroy is back where he was about 10 minutes thanks to a sensational putt on the second.

Chasing the Rory Slam remember, the Northern Irishman drives 300 yards-plus into a fairway bunker but recovers to reach the green in reg.

Then here is the magic... McIlroy, who was hot with the putter yesterday, cans a 30-footer to go back into that pack on three under.

Rickie Fowler's approach rounds the bank of the green like its racing in an Indy car rally before coming to an abrupt halt.

Matt Kuchar, now with a share of the lead, floats his high into the Augusta sky and is surprised to see it kick on off the firm green at Flowering Peach.

Lefty goes last, and is the only one of this three-ball to see his approach anchor on the green. A birdie chance...

  11. Double bogey for Spiethpublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 6 April 2018

    J Spieth -4 (1)

The drama has already started, folks. Not only has Jordan Spieth dropped one shot... he's dropped TWO!

The overnight leader has a 11-foot putt for a bogey... it slides left. Spieth slinks back to four under, giving Kuch a share of the lead.

Hands up if you expected that start...

Rickie Fowler's tee shot at three has finished up somewhere among the patrons. Phil Mickelson pops his slightly left, but with a good sight of the flag. Matt Kuchar is 302-yards deep into the fairway.

I hope those of you who had a pound on anyone other than Jordan Spieth haven't thrown your betting slips in the bin. The 2015 champ tries to club his way out of the trees, but doesn't even make the first fairway. And then he's short with his third shot on the par four. Dropped shot looming...

It's hard to tell if Haotong Li is unhappy with a shot, the 22-year-old appears to sport a permanent smile on his face.

He's gone left off the tee so far, but drags this drive right at the seventh and it skips on through the first cut before settling in the rough.

  15. Birdie for Mickelsonpublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 6 April 2018

    P Mickelson -3, R Fowler -1, M Kuchar -4 (2)

That's a wonderful approach from Rickie Fowler. He bogeyed the first but has an immediate shot at redemption, four to five feet from the pin. He finally makes it down in par.

Phil Mickelson stands over his ball in the bunker, wiggles those 47-year-old hips and clips a delightful effort towards the flag. It rolls on a few rotations too many, but he'll be satisfied with that.

Lefty has to play back up the hill, and nails his birdie putt from 10 feet!

The tall frame of Matt Kuchar casts a shadow over his ball, but the American doesn't like his mid-range putt. That'll be par, too.

Here's our overnight leader. "Fore please. Jordan Spieth driving," announces the first tee, erm, announcer.

He's not the only one shouting 'Fore!' Spieth stretches his vocal cords at the first opportunity after slicing his drive way right. He is human.

  17. Bogey for McIlroypublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 6 April 2018

    R McIlroy -2 (1)

McIlroy plays a peach out of the pines, reaching the green - somehow - in two. He's got a tricky task from 48 foot and ends up 15 foot short. Complete mis-read. That means he has to settle for a three-putt and a bogey. Not the start he dreamed of.

Matt Kuchar finishes in front of the bunker, but Phil Mickelson is maybe a club short there... "A fraction," he says, as his approach drops narrowly short of the green but falls instead into the open jaws of the bunker before it.

Rory McIlroy enjoyed himself yesterday - carding only his second sub-70 opening round at Augusta. Can he maintain his strong start today? Let's find out...

The Northern Irishman strides onto the first tee, walloping his opening drive... left into the trees.

Phil Mickelson and Matt Kuchar are having a good chuckle between themselves on their stroll up the second fairway. Enjoying the beautiful Augusta sunshine no doubt.

Mickelson has a good view of the green, some 283 yards in the distance. Rickie Fowler is first to play though, he's gone slightly right off the tee.
