    T Finau +4, D Berger +4 (10)

Daniel Berger is still sniffing round the top end of the leaderboard. A lovely birdie putt on the 10th gets him back to four over.

His playing partner Tony Finau rolls in an eight-footer for par to also stay at that mark.

  2. Bogey for Reedpublished at 21:40 British Summer Time 17 June 2018

    P Reed +4 (12)

A good putt by Patrick Reed but it's another shot gone, a third bogey in three holes - and that after five birdies in his opening seven.

He's still two under for his round but all the momentum is gone.

  3. Koepka finds bunkerpublished at 21:40 British Summer Time 17 June 2018

    B Koepka E, D Johnson +2 (10)

That is not in a good spot at all for Brooks Koepka. A meaty gathering of long grass behind his lie.

He stabs it into the bank, it runs on and gathers pace. It's going, going, gone... into the bunker on the other side!

Cracking bunker shot, mind. And he has a bogey putt from 10 feet.

  4. Reed dropping shotspublished at 21:37 British Summer Time 17 June 2018

    P Reed +3 (11)

Patrick Reed is staring a double bogey squarely in the face on the 12th.He's out of the rough but not troubling the green.

With a wedge in hand, he hits a little chip and run and run and run...some six, seven feet past the hole. He's got that for a bogey.

  5. Koepka in troublepublished at 21:36 British Summer Time 17 June 2018

    B Koepka E, D Johnson +2 (10)

Rush of blood to the head for Brooks Koepka?!

He completely misjudges his tee shot at the par-three 11th and it dances all the way up into the rough behind. A dodgy lie too for the defending champion.

Tommy Fleetwood will be in the clubhouse licking his lips...

Dustin Johnson prods on to the green, but is faced with a long birdie putt.

Oh dear, Patrick Reed sprays his approach from the cabbage into some more rough lurking up ahead.

    He's drifting...

  7. Birdie for Koepkapublished at 21:32 British Summer Time 17 June 2018

    B Koepka E, D Johnson +2 (10)

Dustin Johnson prowls around the green, squatting every few yards like he's starring in a Mr Motivator video.

Up he comes, approaching a birdie putt from nearly 35 feet and tickling it up to within a couple of inches.

He stretches across and pops it in for par. Brooks Koepka checks out the pitch mark his rival has left. DJ dismisses it.

No bother for Brooks, he zips in for birdie from close range.

  8. Finau holes birdiepublished at 21:30 British Summer Time 17 June 2018

    T Finau +4, D Berger +5 (9)

We're not seeing too much of Tony Finau and Daniel Berger who are in the final group of the day.

Perhaps that's because they are both two over for the day. But here's Finau. In with a birdie putt on the ninth to get back to +4 for the championship.

He's still in with a decent shout. A graphic on television says he's played the back nine in -3 this week. Dustin Johnson? Level par. Brooks Koepka? +6. Game. On.

  9. Reed in the roughpublished at 21:29 British Summer Time 17 June 2018

    P Reed +3 (11)

The Patrick Reed wobble looks worryingly like continuing at 12.

The Masters champion scurries his tee shot into the rough to the right of the fairway.

    How's that looking?

  10. Postpublished at 21:27 British Summer Time 17 June 2018

    B Koepka +1, D Johnson +2 (9)

Brooks Koepka playing blind at the par-four 10th, but he's going to love the look of that... whipping an approach over the hill and nestling it up to within a few feet of the flag.

Dustin Johnson has his sights on the pin. His pitch skips on a touch.

  11. Fleet(wood) of footpublished at 21:25 British Summer Time 17 June 2018

    T Fleetwood +2 (F)

Tommy Fleetwood looks like he's off for a stroll to try take his mind off things. He's arm-in-arm with his wife (and manager) Clare.

They are been followed by half a dozen folk. And a policeman. I mean, come on folks, three's a crowd, but nine?

He's probably got about two hours to kill. What would you do? Hit a few balls, watch on TV, go for a beer*?

    * Yes. I know he's not going to go for a beer.

Leader Brooks Koepka heads to the back nine.

He takes an iron out of his bag, but it'll be Dustin Johnson to play first - the world number one just waiting for the group up ahead to pass.

DJ looks to lay up on to the hill, but it kicks on down the other side and scurries into the heart of the fairway.

Koepka flies his just inside the left-hand side of the fairway. He's a way back.

  14. Mistake from Reedpublished at 21:19 British Summer Time 17 June 2018

    P Reed +2 (10)

Patrick Reed is in trouble off the tee at the 159-yard par three 11th.

His chip from down the slope at the back of the green hits the flag stick and he has just less than 14 feet for a scramble par save.

  15. Pars for Johnson & Koepkapublished at 21:15 British Summer Time 17 June 2018

    B Koepka +1, D Johnson +2 (9)

Dustin Johnson out with the driver on the par-four ninth. It sets off down the right but catches a friendly downslope that keeps his ball on the short grass.

Brooks Koepka is also out with the big stick, goes left but finds the fairway.

DJ leaves himself a birdie putt from 15 or so feet, albeit with a tricky slope to contend with. Nope, he hasn't given it enough. Had the line, not the length.

Koepka says he'll come at his birdie putt "from a foot right". He crouches down, gives it a good assessment. It does start right, but there's too much left break and instead he makes par.

    P Reed +2 (10)

  17. 'Tommy taken full advantage'published at 21:14 British Summer Time 17 June 2018

    Oliver Wilson
Former Ryder Cup player on BBC Radio 5 live

It's fantastic. The course is a little different and the pin positions are a little easier but Tommy has taken full advantage. It's an amazing effort to score eight birdies. It's actually a shame as he had a massive chance for three more in the last three holes.

  18. I'm a shot or two short, says Fleetwoodpublished at 21:13 British Summer Time 17 June 2018

    T Fleetwood +2 (F)

A 63 in a major is rare. It's been a privilege to watch and write about this particular one.

Here's Tommy Fleetwood's take: "A 62 was more on my mind than where I was in the tournament coming down the last few holes. It's special to shoot a 63 at the US Open.

"I thought 62 after six or seven holes. I knew I had to shoot something good. Last night we said shoot the greatest score in a US Open and you'll have a chance. It's alright saying that but it never happens.

"I had a great stretch on the back nine. Holed putts on 13, 14 and 15. I felt really good. I'd love to hit the putts again on 16 and 18 but I did everything I could and I hit the putt I wanted on the last. It was so slow for a seven-footer but I thought it was in."

On his chances of winning, he said: "I don't think I've got a chance. I think it's going to be one or two short. There's nothing I can do now. The greens late in the day are not easy. If it was yesterday's conditions I'd feel a lot more confident."

    P Reed +2 (9)

Masters champion Patrick Reed reaches the turn in four under with a first dropped shot of the day at the ninth.
