  1. Koepka misses eagle chippublished at 02:10 British Summer Time 17 June 2019

    Koepka -10 (17)

A healthy round of applause for Brooks Koepka as he strides on to the 18th green. He looks set to score all four rounds in the 60s this week but it's not going to be quite good enough to win a third successive US Open title.

Scotsman Willie Anderson's record will be safe. Anderson won a joint record four titles in total, with three in succession from 1903.

Koepka with a wedge, doesn't really get into his ball and it dribbles on to the green and drifts off towards the sea, stopping nine feet from the hole. Surely he has to make birdie?!

    Rose -7, Woodland -12 (16)

"You've got this Gary," shouts a fan on the 17th tee but has he opened the door for Brooks Koepka?

There's a trace of nerves as he feathers his tee shot right landing it downtown on the fringe of the first strip of green 91 feet from the hole.

He's surely going to lob one up to get anywhere near from there.

Justin Rose is also in another parish - 72 feet away from the cup.

    Koepka -10 (17)

Brooks Koepka has an iron out for his second shot to the last. A bit of adrenaline in the shoulders? He's pinged that through to the back edge of the green and he'll have a 50-footer to really make Gary Woodland think...

  4. Hole 17published at 02:05 British Summer Time 17 June 2019

    Par 3, 220 yards

This hole has delivered two of the most dramatic moment in major championship history:

Jack Nicklaus’ 1-iron off the flagstick in the 1972 US Open, and Tom Watson’s chip in during the 1982 US Open, both in the final round en route to victories.

    Rose -7, Woodland -12 (16)

No drama, no fuss, Gary Woodland is on the green in two at 16 despite ending up in a divot on the fairway off the tee,

He's barely put a foot wrong and gets down in two from 27 feet to collect another par.

Justin Rose is also on in two, but a 14-footer for birdie skids past leaving him with the consolation of par. It's not much of one though.

  6. McIlroy closes with birdiepublished at 02:04 British Summer Time 17 June 2019

    Oosthuiizen -6, McIlroy -5 (F)

Up on the 18th green, Louis Oosthuizen is knocking in a par putt to finish on six under. The South African briefly threatened to get involved in the title fight before fading.

His playing partner Rory McIlroy rolls in a birdie putt to get to five under. He takes off his cap and runs his fingers through his hair, a rueful look on his face.

  7. Koepka chasing eagle down the lastpublished at 02:00 British Summer Time 17 June 2019

Brooks Koepka is chasing the day's first eagle down the par-five last. At worst he needs a birdie.

The world number one has made a decent start to the hole, finding the fairway from the tee. He's got 226 yards to the hole.

No point in laying up here.

  8. Late bloomer Woodlandpublished at 02:00 British Summer Time 17 June 2019

    Rose -7, Woodland -12 (15)

Gary Woodland, may be far from a household name but he has been in the top 100 in the world for the last eight years.

Not bad considering he started University on a basketball scholarship before switching on to a golf scholarship a year later.

He's been ok when it comes to recent majors as well, finishing in the top 10 at the 2018 PGA Championship and finishing tied for eighth in the 2019 edition of the PGA at Bethpage Black last month.

Could this be his first winners cheque?

  9. McDowell in with birdiepublished at 01:58 British Summer Time 17 June 2019

    McDowell -3 (F)

Graeme McDowell, who won the US Open when it was last played at Pebble Beach in 2010, has finished up his tournament with a birdie on the last.

The Northern Irishman carded a one-over 72 to end up on three under par.

His next big date is July's Open at Royal Portrush in his homeland, a course he knows extremely well.

  10. Koepka knocks in parpublished at 01:53 British Summer Time 17 June 2019

    Koepka -10, Reavie -7 (17)

Right then Brooks, what have you got left?

You feel this has to drop to put the pressure on Gary Woodland. It's right-to-left. It's on its way but Koepka has not hit that and it pulls up a couple of feet short.

Chez Reavie is about a third of the distance of Koepka from the hole and he too is far too tentative.

    Pars all round.

  11. Bogey for Rosepublished at 01:52 British Summer Time 17 June 2019

    Rose -7, Woodland -12 (15)

That's decent from Justin Rose out of the bunker....but his ball chases on down the slope, a bit like his chances. A 13 feet putt doesn't drop and that's a third bogey in four holes.

Gary Woodland's got a 30-footer down for birdie, which he probably doesn't even need to make. He doesn't but he's run a smidgen past, and easily tidies up.

    Koepka -10, Reavie -7 (16)

A quick look at Chez Reavie on the par-three 17th tee. The American started his round on seven under par, and he's still on that total and that's why we've barely seen him hit a shot today. He finds the green.

Brooks Koepka is next up. Another green safely found but he's got 28 feet for a much-needed birdie...

  13. Postpublished at 01:45 British Summer Time 17 June 2019

    Rose -8, Woodland -12 (14)

Has someone switched off Justin Rose's radar? The Englishman has been all over the show in the last couple of hours and he's wayward off the tee at 15, to find yet more sand.

Ditto his second which plops into the right greenside bunker.

You can count Gary Woodland errors on one hand. Precision personified, he's on the green in two.

  14. Par for Koepkapublished at 01:43 British Summer Time 17 June 2019

    Koepka -10 (16)

Brooks Koepka rattles his birdie putt up the green, borrowing from right-to-left but he's sent that out too far wide. Another par for the world number one who stays two back of the leader. Holes running out.

  15. Postpublished at 01:42 British Summer Time 17 June 2019

    Koepka -10 (15)

Brooks Koepka takes an iron off the 16th tee. He finds the fairway for the ninth time in 13 holes. That will help settle any nerves.

Just 143 yards to the hole and he's out with a wedge which he pings into the guts of the green. He's got to start holing a putt though if he wants to become a three-time winner.

Since holing his fourth birdie in his opening five holes, Koepka has only holed one more, on the 11th.

  16. Rahm shares clubhouse leadpublished at 01:39 British Summer Time 17 June 2019

    Rahm -7 (F)

Spain's Jon Rahm is up on the 18th green, standing over a 10-foot birdie putt. Nice and easy does it for the big man, right in the middle to finish on seven under par.

A three-under-par 68 for Rahm, who flashes a big grin at his caddie, before going off to check his scorecard in the scorer's hut. A seven under par tournament total represents a decent week.

  17. Birdie for Woodlandpublished at 01:38 British Summer Time 17 June 2019

    Rose -8, Woodland -12 (14)

Absolutely nothing down for JR here by the looks of things, as another birdie shout goes awry.

His 18-footer just dies and slides off to the right, which means he'll have to settle for par.

Gary Woodland rolls on to four feet and then drains his birdie chance. The World number 25 is looking good value.

  18. Postpublished at 01:35 British Summer Time 17 June 2019

    Rose -8, Woodland -11 (13)

Justin Rose is on the green but he's not nearly close enough after landing 18 feet away from the pin.

He probably need to make this birdie chance to retain an interest.

  19. Koepka correcting errorspublished at 01:32 British Summer Time 17 June 2019

    Koepka -10 (15)

Brooks Koepka leaks his drive on the 15th into the cabbage down the right. For a four-time major winner he's looking a little nervy out there.

But the American smashes a wedge from 145 yards right into the heart of the green. He can't get any stop on the ball so he's going to have a lengthy birdie putt but he's on the green at least.

From 38 feet, he starts his putt way out to the left of the hole, it takes the hill and turns back towards the hole but that needs to get some brakes. He's gone a good six feet past. But no hassle. Bang in the middle for par

  20. Postpublished at 01:31 British Summer Time 17 June 2019

    Rose -8, Woodland -11 (13)

Justin Rose plays the percentages with his second into the par-five 14th, as he lays up.

But Gary Woodland is having none of that.

The three-wood comes out of the bag, as he hits a zinger over the front bunker and just through the green, from a mere 265 yards.

Does he go to the same gym as Brooks Koepka?
