And with that, it's time to bring our Masters coverage to an end.

Rory McIlroy threatened a remarkable comeback, Tiger Woods completed his own remarkable comeback, but it was Scottie Scheffler, the hottest property in golf and the world number one, who was crowned the Masters champion after blowing the field away at Augusta National to win his first major title by three shots.

You can read all about it in Jonathan Jurejko's report here.

    Until next time...

  7. 'To have my family with me was incredible'published at 00:28 British Summer Time 11 April 2022

And here is Scottie Scheffler, the 2022 Masters champion: "I was very excited (at the third hole), a bit surprised. It was not a shot I expected to see going in but it definitely got things rollng, after that and I played some really solid golf after that.

"It's a long day, it's a tough day and I was trying to keep my head down and execute shots.

"I was fortunate to put myself in a position that I was in control of the tournament today. I did see that Rory [McIlroy] posted seven under.

"The first time I thought of winning was probably Friday in the afternoon."

On how he feels now: "I want to go home! I'm pretty trired right now - I'm really at a loss for words right now.

"I can't thank my family enough - they've made many sacrifices over the years. To have the honour of winning the tournament and to have my family with me was incredible."

  8. Hatton 'glad' Masters is overpublished at 00:25 British Summer Time 11 April 2022

    Hatton +17 (F)

Now to a slightly different extreme...

Tyrrell Hatton is one of the few players not to be a big fan of Augusta National - and he's also not one to mince his words.

The Englishman's overriding emotion after an eight-over final round of 80 to leave him 17 over overall was to say "I'm glad it's over."

He'd managed just a stroke better in Saturday's third round, and said the widely lauded course sprawling under Georgia pines just didn't fit his eye, calling it "unfair at times," and saying good shots sometimes don't get rewarded.

"If you hit a good shot, you should end up near the hole, not then short-sided into a bunker because of the slopes that they've created and stuff," Hatton said.

"I think it's how the course is set up in general. You don't really have to miss a shot, and your next one, you're really struggling to make par."

  14. How much does the champion win?published at 00:09 British Summer Time 11 April 2022

Feels like a good time to take a look at what Scottie Scheffler will be pocketing for his Masters victory.

Yes, of course, it's the Green Jacket and the title that's the most important, but for Scheffler and the other top finishers it's more than a decent pay day too....
