    Peter Scrivener
    BBC Sport at TPC Sawgrass

Reese has been carrying scoreboards around after the players for seven years after his dad got him into it.

He’s out with Paul Casey’s group today.

“Paul’s really cool, always smiling,” he says.

“I had Rory last year and I was with Tommy for three years in a row. He was cool. He remembered me and gave me a signed glove.”

Reese plays off 2 and this is his home course.

“My lowest score on the Stadium Course is 75 and I’ve birdied 17. My worst is a double bogey.

“I know the wind was brutal on Saturday but I think the players overthink it sometimes. Just punch an eight iron in there, under the wind.”

    Smith -7 (17)

Cameron Smith's third round is drawing to a close but can the world number 10 start to shuffle closer to the leader?

Yep, with shot like that he can, spiralling his chip over the water to the 17th and landing it in gimme range for birdie.

  8. Hole in one was 'very special'published at 13:31 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022

    Lowry -6 (F)

Shane Lowry speaking to Sky Sports: "I knew when it was in the air it was going to pitch on land which is nice and what happened next was very special. I just get so excited. It was great fun, it was one of those things I will remember and maybe I will have to get a pendant of the 17th hole here, which is one of the most iconic in golf.

"I stood on the tee yesterday morning and needed two pars to make the cut and finished birdie, birdie. I played nicely yesterday and this morning. I am looking forward to this afternoon and it is nice to be in the hunt.

"In the first two rounds I did not play well but mentally I am good and I am just accepting what comes on the golf course."

    Thomas -4 (16)

Very few sights of Justin Thomas so far. It's either been wonderful or woeful for JT, who collects a bogey on the 16th after fizzing his approach into the water.

  11. Postpublished at 13:22 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022

    Munoz -8 (F)

  12. Hovland's hole in onepublished at 13:19 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022

    Hovland -4 (17*)

Oh hello. Viktor Hovland makes the second hole in one of his career over on the eighth. Sensational.

The Norwegian has made two eagles on the back nine and could be putting himself back in the conversation as a potential winner.

  13. Volunteering at the Playerspublished at 13:18 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022

Keith Thompson - an English volunteer at the Players ChampionshipImage source, BBC Sport

    Meet Keith.

Keith first went to the Players Championship as a fan, in 2016. He misjudged the heat and got a little sunburnt. He sought help from the volunteer marshals on the 18th, who helped rehydrate him.He returned a couple of times over the course of the week and by the end, was persuaded to return the following year as a volunteer. He jumped at the chance and has been a permanent fixture on the 18th fairway ever since, apart from last year when he couldn't get over because of Covid restrictions.

Keith was here in 2020 when the tournament was cancelled after the first round, as Covid was sweeping around the world. "I had to pay £1,000 to get a flight out of here, and quickly," he told me. "We had 48 hours to get out of the country."

He pays his own airfare and accommodation and £100 or so for the uniform."It's a great week and I'm in a great spot. It gets massively busy here," he adds. "I've never seen weather like we've had this week though. It's been brutal, for everyone here."He is in the firing line of drives pushed to the right on the last hole. "I've been hit a few times, but nothing too serious."

Englishman Keith is the only UK volunteer this year but sadly he won't be here today. He can't justify paying the price to change his flight home to Edinburgh but says he will be back next year.

  14. Lowry finishes third round with a birdiepublished at 13:15 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022

    Lowry -6 (18*)

Shane Lowry' can put his feet up for a bit now in a fairly content mood. The Irishman plays a super chip to three feet on the ninth and then tidies up for birdie.

  15. Postpublished at 13:11 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022

    McIlroy +5 (14*)

Rory McIlroy looks like a man that can't wait to get home. He plays a decent enough approach into the fifth green but is then faced with a 25-footer, which he rolls past by about four feet before saving par.

The Northern Irishman is currently tied for 69th and his birdie on the second hold of his third round seems like a long, long time ago.

  16. Postpublished at 13:06 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022

    Berger -6 (16)

Daniel Berger, who has not won on the PGA Tour for over 12 months looks a little bit bemused over on the 17th.

He plays right of the pin on the island hole but his ball spins back and keeps picking up pace before making that horrible plopping sound no golfer enjoys.

  17. Knox finishes with a birdiepublished at 13:02 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022

    Knox -6 (F)

Scotland's Russell Knox can be happy with his third-round work. He heads into the clubhouse with a 68 to his name and in a tie for eighth.

  18. Birdie for Johnsonpublished at 12:59 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022

    Johnson E (17)

Dustin Johnson acknowledges the applause of the gallery over on the 17th as he taps in for birdie.

That takes the American to level par, with his hopes of doing anything here badly damaged by a double and four bogeys on the back nine.

  19. Bogey for Caseypublished at 12:57 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022

    Casey -7 (13)

Paul Casey drops back after sliding a five-footer past for par on the 13th. That is the Englishman's first bogey in 44 holes and just at the wrong time.

  20. Postpublished at 12:55 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022
