    Burns -5, Spieth -5, Young -5 (tee-time 17:42)

Some these three-balls coming up are cracking - including this one.

Three Americans, all on five under, each possessing plenty of talent.

One of them has been here and got the Green Jacket. That's 2015 champ Jordan Spieth, of course.

Sam Burns and Cameron Young both missed the cut on their debuts last year, let's see how they handle the weekend.

  2. Great start from Rosepublished at 17:42 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Rose -5 (1)

Gorgeous roll on the ball from Justin Rose on the first green as he sends a long birdie putt tracking all the way - it always looked like going in and it does indeed drop.

  3. Birdie hat-trick for Cantlaypublished at 17:39 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Cantlay -5 (4)

There's no rain or wind currently and the calm and still conditions combined with receptive greens means that birdies are there for the taking - as Patrick Cantlay is showing.

He sticks one in close on the long par-three fourth and that's now a hat-trick of birdies to all of a sudden put him in sixth on the leaderboard.

  4. Four-putt for Matsuyamapublished at 17:36 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Matsuyama E (2)

Oh dear! 2021 Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama has had a nightmare on the second hole, despite lining up for a birdie putt from long range, as he goes on to four putt for a seven!

The Japanese star finds the bunker off the tee, hacks it out, then finds the green nicely enough, with his long putt up the hill only going a few feet past.

BUT, the par try misses and just keeps going and going back down the hill, leaving him a longer bogey putt which he misses. These greens will get you!

  6. Back-to-back birdies for Cantlaypublished at 17:27 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Cantlay -4 (3)

Patrick Cantlay picks up shots on the second and third holes to improve to four under, taking advantage of the par-five second as most players try and do, but only after a nice bunker shot.

The third is the short par four that also should really be a birdie hole, and it certainly is for Cantlay.

  7. Postpublished at 17:19 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

Lots of hoodies and woolly hats on the Augusta range. Even a plastic poncho or two.

Jason Day looks like he is going to a Premier League match in January rather than ready to play a round of golf at a major.

Tiger Woods goes for the Johnny Cash - man in black - as he warms up the putter.

  8. Triple bogey for DJpublished at 17:17 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Johnson +3 (11)*

Uh-oh, it's a dreaded reload for DJ off the 11th tee after he pulled his first ball miles left into the trees - his second effort obviously goes miles right.

From there, he's long and right with his approach shot (his fourth overall) before chipping, missing the putt and having to stick a seven down - a very painful seven at that.

Johnson's played two holes now of his third round and dropped four shots...

  9. Chip in!published at 17:02 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Bradley -3 (1)

Keegan Bradley gets off to a great start when he chips in from off the front of the first green to get to three under right away.

The first hour or so here could just be the pick of the conditions this evening with more heavy rain and stronger winds forecast for later.

  10. Postpublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Rahm -10 (18:06 BST)

Jon Rahm showed exactly how to play the wet conditions a little earlier. Just have a watch of this.

  12. We're off!published at 16:49 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

Third round underway at the Masters

Here we go again folks! After what seems like no break at all, the third round is underway with Dustin Johnson making a bogey on the 10th, Harold Varner III making par and Sepp Straka picking up a birdie.

Over on the first - Adam Scott, Patrick Cantlay and Cameron Smith all make pars to all stay on two under.

  13. Bennett feels he can take down Brookspublished at 16:44 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

A bit more on Sam Bennett - who said amateur golf he plays in college is more than good enough to prepare him for Augusta, especially the courses.

"The championship golf courses, I mean, Ridgewood, it's harder than this place, I'll tell you that, and some of the other courses I've played. So I mean, I think the Amateur golf definitely has prepared me to succeed on the stage."

And will he be nervous today?

"To be honest, I don't think I'll be too nervous out there come the weekend. I'll just be out there enjoying it, soaking it in. If I play good, I play good and if I play bad, I go back to my home school and compete in my home tournament Thursday."

Fair enough, but what about trying to take down four-time major champion Brooks Koepka? His reply when asked why he thought he could do it was brilliant.

"Because I know that my good golf is good enough."

  14. Postpublished at 16:41 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Woods +3 (18:06 BST)

There's probably going to be a lot of chat about Tiger Woods and how he'll fare in the bad weather later. The five-time Masters champion acknowledged he wasn't exactly delighted when he saw the weather forecast earlier this week but this wasn't bad, was it?

  15. Postpublished at 16:34 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Koepka -12, Rahm -10 (18:06 BST)

Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm have made a little bit of history in their opening 36 holes. It's the first time two players have got to the end of the second round in the Masters at 10 under or better.

  16. Who'd be a caddie in this?published at 16:29 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

Few shots of Scottie Scheffler warming up his putter (well getting it wet) on the practice greens. I know we keep banging on about the brutal conditions but honestly who'd fancy playing in this.

Or work as a caddie for that matter! Heavy bags with extra gear and the weight of saturation. Lovely eh.

As the grounds crew deal with all the water around Augusta National, they've also got to cut the new hole locations.

Here's what our players will be aiming at on what is usually 'moving day' but is more like 'survival Saturday' today given the conditions.

  18. Bennett won't back downpublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

How about this for a headline group going out last today? Two big dogs and major champions against this confident amateur champion who genuinely thinks he can win the Masters.

Think young Sam Bennett will be intimidated by Jon Rahm and Brooks Koepka? Think again! He's already said that he fancies his chances and with the way he's played so far, I believe him!

"This is right where I want to be. I love pressure, I love nerves. I try to use them to my advantage. I think I have what it takes to win. I love making putts when it matters."

Bennett will be a fun watch this evening.

  19. Third round three-balls & two-tee startpublished at 16:16 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

Third round to start at 11:30 local time (16:30 BST)

Well, it's not tradition but needs must under these conditions so Augusta National has decided that three-balls and a two-tee start is needed to get this third round done.

They'll start shortly with Adam Scott, Patrick Cantlay and Cameron Smith going off the first and Sepp Straka, Dustin Johnson and Harold Varner III first up on the 10th.

  20. Which LIV players made the cut?published at 16:13 British Summer Time 8 April 2023
