It was a muted farewell for 1988 champion Sandy Lyle, who was denied a chance to finish his final putt as play was suspended due to the fallen trees in the 17th and shortly afterwards for the weather.

"It's a shame we didn't get a chance to finish yesterday, but that's just the way it is," said Lyle, who admitted to feeling the effects of "a lot of tequila and a bit of whiskey tasting" which ended seven hours before his 18th-green cameo.

  2. Shotgun start?published at 16:10 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

There are 54 players have made it through.

Anyone fancy 18x3-balls in a shotgun start?

Thumbs up for yes, thumbs down for no!

  3. Woods ties consecutive cuts recordpublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Woods +3

With Tiger Woods hanging around for the rest of the weekend he ties the record for most consecutive cuts made at the Masters Tournament with 23 (1997-2023), matching Gary Player (1959-1982) and Fred Couples (1983-2007).

No news of how the third round is going to go down yet.

We should get tee times for round three shortly and will know then if it is pairings or groups of three off two tees.

Let's just hope the weather improves!

  5. 'It is not playing easy out there'published at 16:01 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Rahm -10 (F)

Jon Rahm speaking to Sky Sports: "Extremely. I did a good job yesterday to maintain my score. Great par save on 11 and the birdie on 13 was a huge start.

"The key today throughout the rain was putting the tee shots on the fairway which is not easy. I was able to give myself some birdie looks but it is not playing easy out there at all so let's hope the weather gets a little better.

"I'm excited. Looking forward to it. I have never gone into weekend this close to the lead in a major and lets hope I can continue the good play."

    C Smith -2, Matsuyama -3, Im +3 (18)

Hideki Matsuyama clips his third into eight feet after landing his second on the edge.

His putt is a little fat and catches the lip as it stays up. Bogey finish for the 2021 champion and one for Cam Smith as well, who gets up and down for a five.

Big, big putt incoming for Sungjae Im. This to have a chance of playing the final two rounds...can he even feel his hands?

In it goes. Great putt considering the conditions and tension.

    C Smith -3, Matsuyama -4, Im +3 (17)

Cam Smith is rubbing his hands together trying to get some warmth into them as he plays his third.

It's 28°C over in Brisbane at the moment, so the freezing Augusta weather and torrential rain is probably not exactly to his liking.

He squelches his feet into position takes a wood but doesn't even make the dancefloor.

Sungjae Im zips his third into five feet. A decent chance to hang around.

  8. Rahm drops a shot with Thomas to miss the cutpublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Young -5, Thomas +4, Rahm -10 (F)

JT with a putt to stay in the tournament...it's a good weight but two ball widths to the right of the cup. He looks severely cheesed off.

He’s played the last seven-and-a-half holes of his second round in six over. Cam Young rolls in to save his par as JT appears to mutter away to himself.

And it's two putts for Jon Rahm who has finished birdie, bogey, birdie, bogey.

    Young -5, Thomas +3, Rahm -11 (17)

Cam Young now up for birdie. His ball looked like it was going through treacle as it pulls up a good eight to 10 feet short.

    Young -5, Thomas +3, Rahm -11 (17)

Jon Rahm tries to pitch his ball into the middle of the green over the bank but comes up short. This is going to roll and roll back down the green.

He'll be doing well to save his par. His putt isn't far off the one Tiger had a little earlier.

    C Smith -3, Matsuyama -4, Im +3 (17)

The final group are on the final tee. Hideki Matsuyama powers his drive up the right.

Cam Smith give his club head another dry with the towel while his caddie holds the brolly over his teed up ball. Nothing helping the Aussie though. He pulls his shot way left.

Sungjae Im is the last to play... he now needs a par down the last to make the weekend. Drives down the right, could be blocked out for his second by trees.

    Young -5, Thomas +3, Rahm -11 (17)

Jon Rahm belts his tee shot away on the 18th. He's left but given the weather conditions the left fairway bunker doesn't even come into play.

He elects to pump his approach into the green with a long iron from 211 yards and just about reaches the right front edge.

There's a fair bit of surface water gathering on the 18th green that will now come into play.

JT takes a wood from the fairway, which sails left towards the gallery. He’ll need to get up and down to hang around for the rest of the weekend.

Cam Young is safely on the dancefloor in two.

  13. Im bogey helping Woodspublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    C Smith -3, Matsuyama -4, Im +3 (17)

Sungjae Im is chipping across the width of the green after his errant second. Decent but he's got a 15-footer for par...

Hideki Matsuyama looks more like he's off fishing with a bright yellow waterproof on. Brilliant touch. Chips stone dead. Hurries down there, taps it in and then seeks immediate sanctuary under his brolly.

Cam Smith from a similar angle, not quite as close but a par nonetheless.

Im for par... no. Does that shift the cut mark out to +3? Tiger Woods will be watching closely.

Augusta resembles Lord's on the opening morning of English Test summer. Umbrellas everywhere!

Sungjae Im leaks his second to 17 way way right. The fact any of them are keeping hold of their clubs is a miracle in itself. The caddies really earning their coin today.

Cam Smith is scurrying after his ball, trying to keep tabs on it. I wonder if he saw it bounce through the back of the green

The early tee times in round two, are a cumulative +18, late tee times +88. I think that says it all.

  15. Young drops back after double as Thomas also bogeyspublished at 15:18 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Young -5, Thomas +3, Rahm -11 (17)

Cam Young pays for a couple of wayward early shots on the hole and half-hearted pitch into the green as he surrenders two shots.

It is absolutely bucketing down as JT tries to save his par after a crisp iron shot. It looks in as it leaves his putter but curls off right.

Tiger Woods could have to ready himself for the third round as it stands.

  16. Rahm pulls a shot backpublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Young -7, Thomas +2, Rahm -11 (16)

Very good third from Justin Thomas who watches Cam Young make a hash of his second after a wayward tee shot.

Jon Rahm runs off the back with his iron but out comes the putter again. This is a good 18 feet with memories of what happened on 13 probably in his mind, he belts that towards the hole and in rattles against the back of the cup and drops.

That was travelling. If it had missed he might have been putting from 30-feet in the other direction.

It's hard to get across quite how miserable it is out there.

If you get me 5,000 thumbs up on this message, I'll send Iain Carter out of his warm, dry studio to report back...

Hideki Matsuyama, champion in 2021, is in the final group out and moving along nicely.

He's one of the few to get his ball to the back pin on the 16th and he takes full advantage, ramming in the birdie putt.

Sungjae Im, his playing partner is one of those on two over who Tiger Woods needs to drop a shot... not on the 16th though. An excellent two-putt from the front edge.

  19. Postpublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Young -7, Thomas +2, Rahm -10 (16)

Tiger Woods' hopes of making the cut may have just got a little better as Justin Thomas goes way left to leave him heading off towards the seventh.

Thomas a two-time winner of the PGA Championship, tries to hook his second around the pines and makes a decent job of it.

  20. Woods waiting on cut markpublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Hovland -6 (73), Schauffele -2 (74), Woods +3 (73)

Tiger Woods, Xander Schauffele & Viktor HovlandImage source, Getty Images

A bit of a scruffy end to Xander Schauffele's round. He doesn't give his wedge from the left of the green enough oomph and he's facing a 12-footer for par.

Here's Tiger... it's probably closer to 40 feet... rattles it up the hill. But no. Always a touch right. Kick-in bogey. He's going to need Justin Thomas and one other to drop a shot in his final couple of holes to help shift that cut mark out to +3.

What can Viktor Hovland do from the right edge, putting across the green... good effort. That'll be a par finish for him and in the thick of it for round three.

And Xander to finish up... his putt hits the lip and stays up. Bogey.
