  1. Bogey for Rahmpublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Young -7, Thomas +2, Rahm -10 (16)

Jon Rahm's putting stroke on the 16th isn't far off a cover drive in cricket. He's that far back, he may as well be in a different postcode as he runs it up to seven feet from 85.

Oh Jon....he's missed the par saver!

Young's effort comes into five feet, whereas JT is able to roll into around a foot. Both make their threes.

  2. Woods faces par saverpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Hovland -6, Schauffele -3, Woods +2 (17)

The rain is bucketing it down.

Xander Schauffele is in the middle of the fairway but pulls his approach into the patrons. Viktor Hovland fares better, finding the right edge.

Tiger Woods has hacked out and is in deep discussion with his caddie. They are taking an age over this, seemingly oblivious to the soaking they are getting.

Club selected, two, three practice swings. A long look. Firing at the flag. He's short and this is spinning too. Down Sandy's slope. At least 30 feet.

The good news though is that this weather is playing havoc with the scores... that cut may eke out to three over.

  3. Postpublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Young -7, Thomas +2, Rahm -11 (15)

Justin Thomas is right on the cut line here. He'll need at least three pars to ensure he makes the cut although a birdie wouldn't half go down well.

He watches Jon Rahm and Cam Young both end up on the lower plateau of the 16th green with eight irons and gives his effort off the tee a little more juice.

That's veering off slightly right but he'll be okay.

  4. If you go down to the woods today...published at 14:46 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Woods +2 (17)

    ... you'll find a Tiger.

What a time to hoick one left off the 18th tee. It's all about the bounce in there.

As it stands, Tiger Woods needs a par to make sure he makes the weekend - and he would also equal the record of most consecutive cuts made, which is 23 and held by Gary Player and Fred Couples...

  5. Rahm moves within a shot of leadpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Young -7, Thomas +2, Rahm -11 (15)

Cam Young is way off the back of the dance floor but clips his third to 10 feet before tidying up in two putts.

JT can't save his par mind. A magnificent pitch that turns into a bogey.

Jon Rahm looks in the mood now and strolls up and rolls in his putt with the minimum of fuss.

  6. Postpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Hovland -6, Schauffele -3 (17)

Meanwhile, Viktor Hovland has been studying his five-footer for birdie. But that's a tentative stab. He could barely miss in round one. In round two, he's barely made one. Another birdie chance goes begging.

Xander Schauffele nudges in from three feet for a terrific par after a well-judged pitch from off the back.

The differing emotions a par can mean neatly encapsulated in the space of a couple of minutes there.

  7. Postpublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Young -7, Thomas +1, Rahm -10 (14)

JT can't believe his eyes. His pitch on looks right on the money a couple of yards from the pin but then spins off the moist surface down towards the water before just about holding.

He can't knock in the return birdie, with the pace of his putt way off.

Jon Rahm's clearly taken note and lands his short. A couple of bounces later he's well in birdie range.

  8. Bogey at the wrong timepublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Woods +2 (17)

This putt is getting lots of attention. The cut line, remember is at +2. I'm sure Tiger Woods doesn't want to be needing a par down the last to play the weekend...

...but that's what he's going to need. Zero emotion on his face as he strolls down to tap in for bogey from six inches.

  9. Woods faces big par saverpublished at 14:36 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Wods +1 (16)

Tiger Woods elects to go for a high parachute-style flop over a bunker on the 17th. He's overcooked that a bit and will have a 20-footer for par.

While we wait for him to line it up, here's his approach on 15 that hit the flag...

  10. Postpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Young -7, Thomas +1, Rahm -10 (14)

Over on the 15th Justin Thomas and Jon Rahm both elect to lay up while Cam Young whips out his five wood and his a dig at the green.

JT and Rahm look in decent shape but Young's ball flies well on past the green leaving a horrible looking chip back onto a green that will send anything too firm down towards the drink.

  11. Postpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Hovland -6, Schauffele -3, Woods +1 (16)

Tiger Woods is in the first cut of rough, trying to fade his second round a clump of trees. It's a decent effort but pulling up 10 yards shorot of the green.

Xander Schauffele, perhaps influenced by what happened to Tiger, selects a club, then changes his mind and gets a longer one. He is also out of the rough... gets a bit of a flier and that's over the back of the green.

Viktor Hovland is in the middle of the fairway. And that is a doozy... left edge of the green, spinning in and getting better all the time... five feet for birdie.

  12. Lowry in the mixpublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Lowry -4 (72)

Shane Lowry has just tidied up on 18 for another par, his seventh on the trot.

The Irishman, winner of the 2021 Open Championship, signs for a level-par 72 and is still very much in this.

  13. The 17th teepublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

Trees fallen down on 17th tee at Augusta NationalImage source, Getty Images

This was the scene on the 17th tee late yesterday after three trees fell over in the high winds that were buffeting the course. Thankfully, no patrons were hurt.

You'd never know it looking at the tee box today as Tiger Woods, Xander Schauffele and Viktor Hovland stride over.

All three are in decent shape after their drives.

  14. Young bounces backpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Young -7, Thomas +1, Rahm -10 (14)

Justin Thomas spends a bit of time lining up his putt and gives it plenty of welly but it still starts to slow up and pull left inches before the cup. He's a fraction out there.

Rahm's putt does pretty much the same before Cam Young nips in to show them how it's done albeit admittedly from much closer range.

  15. Pars all roundpublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Hovland -6, Schauffele -3, Woods +1 (16)

Three birdie tries, three putts stay on the green.

Tiger Woods first for his par... five feet, curling in.

Xander Schauffele... four feet, straight in the middle.

    Viktor Hovland... three feet, solid.

  16. Reed in for the weekendpublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Reed -3 (70)

Patrick Reed has been sporting his 4Aces hat - the team he plays for on the LIV Golf circuit. He's just bogeyed the last to sign for two-under 70.

Yesterday, his LIV team-mate Phil Mickelson was playing with South Korea's Kim Si-woo.

We're wondering if Kim will go with another homage to the PGA Tour later, when he goes through his wardrobe and selects today's polo shirt.

    Young -6, Thomas +1, Rahm -10 (13)

Justin Thomas looks pretty pleased as he knocks his second on to the 14th green to leave a 25-foot putt.

There's a bemused laugh as Cam Young lands his in the heart of the dance floor and sees it travel down towards the hole. Great shot that.

Jon Rahm's is somewhere in between the two. Not ideal but a mid-range chance for a three.

  18. Postpublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Hovland -6, Schauffle-3, Woods +1 (15)

On the walk from the 15th green to the 16th tee you can see the whole of the next challenge, so plenty of time to ponder your options.

Its all over water remember, and the second-round pin is back right, on a small ledge. Anything short or left is trundling back to the front edge. Anything long is in sand. Anything right is in sand. Tricky shot.

Tiger Woods is short, Xander Schauffele is short - both have slow uphillers... Viktor Hovland is a fraction right, pin-high, 20-foot for birdie...

  19. Postpublished at 14:14 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Young -6, Thomas +1, Rahm -10 (13)

Justin Thomas has got the earpods on today to chat to broadcasters as he wanders down the 14th hole.

Asked about the biggest challenges the players face in this weather, he responds by saying "How long do you guys have?"

Thomas also says he was up before 05:00 local time to get ready for the resumption of his second round and "put on every layer" that he owns.

"When it is like this all past information is out the window," he adds.

  20. Hovland makes parpublished at 14:09 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Hovland -6, Schauffele -3 (15)

Viktor Hovland has spalshed out of the bunker to the right of 15 and left himself an 18-footer, down and across a bit of a slope. That makes it trickier that Tiger's was a couple of moments ago.

Hovland is tentative. Too tentative. But a par. If he can keep himself in contention, he might end up playing most of his third round in better weather on Sunday morning.

Xander Schauffele in for a steady par. Laid up with his second, flicked a wedge to 15 feet and two-putted.
