  1. Woods takes advantagepublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Woods +1 (15)

Will Tiger Woods captialise on his good fortune? Of course he will! From the moment the ball left the face of his putter that looked nowhere else but in the middle of the hole.

It's not quite a Tiger roar on a Sunday, but it's certainly the biggest of the week so far!

Big putt incoming for Jon Rahm from around 10 feet...

Up goes the arm...in it goes.

    Young -7, Thomas +1, Rahm -10 (12)

Cameron Young has a delicate looking chip that he runs in towards the hole.

Is this going to drop..it trundles slowly down the slope but stops two inches short. Great effort.

Jon Rahm gets his putter out from an almost identical position and comes up miles short. Surprising choice maybe giving the water on the longer cut was always going to slow that down?

JT now getting ready for his birdie putt from 14 feet. He's dropped three shots in his previous two holes so could do with this dropping but he can't knock that one in, missing a fraction right.

  4. Fortune for Woodspublished at 14:04 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Woods +2 (14)

Tiger Woods has laid up on the 15th. Oh wow... his ball hits the flag and drops straight down with his third. But then there's a bit of spin and that's heading towards a watery grave... at least it would be if we were in drier conditions. The dampness saves him.

    He'll have a 25-footer for birdie.

"Please stop" shouts Cameron Young as his fourth whips through the green.

Very much in damage limitation mode after dropping that shot earlier on the hole. Jon Rahm had been complaining about his second...he's in fine shape.

Although he doesn't look happy with his third, with his chip on skidding off the putting surface and touching Young's ball as it comes to a halt.

    Hovland -6 (14)

The stands are slowly starting to fill up as the patrons at Augusta make their way to their favoured spots. Many are choosing to keep walking though, with the fairways rammed with fans.

Viktor Hovland fancies a crack at the green with his second on the par-five 15th. He lets out a bit of a groan. The ball is heading right... right into a bunker.

    Young -7, Thomas +1, Rahm -10 (12)

Cameron Young is in loads of bother here.

His tee shot goes well right into the pines and he then zings his second out of the trees into trouble down the left. Is that in the water?

Looks like he's got another ball out of his pocket. This could be a costly hole for the American.

Jon Rahm isn't overly pleased with his second, which has gone a little further right than he'd have liked.

  8. Pars all roundpublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Hovland -6, Schauffele -3, Woods +2 (14)

Over on the 14th, it's a chip and putt contest.

Tiger Woods is off the back of the green. In to about five feet. Xander Schauffele has already played from the front, to about eight feet. And Viktor Hovland skids one in to about seven feet.

Who is the putting King? Everyone. Three solid pars.

Big birdie chance coming up on 15... and Tiger could do with one.

  9. Postpublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    C Smith -1 (11)

Terrific par from Cam Smith. The Open champion is not firing yet but if he can make the weekend, you'd back him to challenge.

    A good 15-footer for par on 11.

  10. Rain or wind?published at 13:43 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

Would you rather play in rain or wind? I think I prefer wind. Can't stand my grips getting wet.

Of course, the players will be battling both if the weather forecast is to be believed. It's more rainy at the moment though.

Give me a thumbs up for rain, thumbs down for wind.

  11. 'You get more appreciative of winning'published at 13:42 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Lyle +20 (83)

One last thing for Sandy to do... a few words to the press...

"I've got good memories," he says on Sky Sports.

"It would have been nice to finish off last night. This morning I came back Hit a lousy putt.

"I’ve played so poorly for a while so it wasn’t a hard decision. I thought I might be very emotional but I prepared well for it.

"I’m in no rush to come back and play here again. Coming and playing off the women’s tees would be hard enough.

"As time goes on you get more appreciative of winning. All the little things make a huge difference – the winners sticker on windshield, people knowing your name as they wave you through."

Jon Rahm moves within two of the lead dropping in his putt dead weight. Cam Young also sees his drop in for a birdie.

Justin Thomas comes up short with his par-saving putt.

  13. Mize waves farewell toopublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Mize +15 (82)

Sandy Lyle is not the only player calling it a day this week. Larry Mize, the 1987 champion and therefore the man who put the Green Jacket on Lyle's shoulders in 1988, is on the 18th...

... he looks a little emotional as he trudges up the deceptively steep slope to the green, his cap comes off, a wave to the patrons...

It's taken him three blows to get to the green. Three more putts from there and a double to finish.

Sandy is there to give him a hug. Caps are off again. Lovely scenes.

    Young -6, Thomas E, Rahm -9 (11)

That's looking good from Jon Rahm. Initially it looked like he was going well left but his ball perches on to the back left of the green 10 feet from the pin.

Cam Young is also in to eight feet although JT is not so lucky, skipping his through the green and then making a mess of the return.

  15. Hovland birdiepublished at 13:31 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Hovland -6, Schauffele -3, Woods +2 (13)

Here's Viktor Hovland on the 13th. He's Norwegian so must be used to slightly chillier weather but he's out in full-on winter golf gear, complete with black and white bobble hat.

He's pitching his third into the 13th. No grab on the second bounce, tricky birdie look coming up from 15 feet.

Playing partner Xander Schauffele shows him the way from 25 feet. Birdie-birdie start for the American.

Here's Tigr Woods from a similar line to Schauffele. Doesn't hit it. Par. Another chance gone.

Can Hovland drop his? Yes he can. One shot back after dropping at 11.

  17. Oosthuizen withdrawspublished at 13:24 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Oosthuizen (WD)

South Africa's Louis Oosthuizen, the 2010 Open champion, has withdrawn on Saturday due to an unspecified injury.

The 40-year-old who made his major breakthrough with a triumph at St. Andrews was destined to miss the cut at Augusta National anyway after going through his first 35 holes in seven over.

  18. Woods misses birdie lookpublished at 13:23 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Woods +2 (12)

The top 50 and ties get to play the weekend. That means everyone at three over and worse is currently going home.

Tiger Woods is at two over. The five-time winner is currently on the 13th, having just parred the short 12th.

He had hit a pin-seeker to five feet on Golden Bell but pulled the putt. He needs a birdie to make sure on this final stretch.

It's absolutely tipping it down by the way.

A pretty loose tee shot from Jon Rahm on the 11th after safely making par on 10.

His second is going to be from the pines and he zips his iron shot off down the right and will have a tricky up and down for par from just right of the green.

The quality of his pitch on would normally be greeted with a huge cheers as he almost lands his ball in the cup. He'll have maybe a six-foot putt to save par.

In case you missed it. Cameron Young has holed his birdie putt on the 10th to move to six under.

  20. And it's goodbye from himpublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Lyle +20 (83)

Sandy Lyle on the 18th green at Augusta, blowing a kissImage source, Getty Images

Lyle had a 12-foot putt left for par, which he pushed a little. So it's a bogey ending.

Ther's a bit of a cheer, but there aren't many people gathered round the 18th and it's a rather muted ending for the 1988 champion.

Such a shame for the two-time major winner. I'm sure it's not the way he thought he'd be signing off.
