The end of that sevens final brings us to the rarest of rare things in these Olympic Games - a slight lull in the action. It gives the opportunity to tell you what else has been going while GB have been winning cycling gold and rugby silver.

The biggest reaction of the week was probably the last game when GB beat South Africa and they celebrated on the pitch. That said to me straight away they didn't expect to reach the final.

You could have put four men up against Fiji today and not stopped them. This is Fiji's day. The world has now seen what rugby sevens can offer the Olympics.

It is such a moment in the history of Fiji the rugby team and Fiji the nation, because it's a first Olympic medal and it's gold.

Gold for Fiji! They win their first Olympic medal in any sport in utterly dominant fashion. The best sevens team in the world are the Olympic champions. They will be celebrating on the streets of Suva tonight. For GB, a team thrown together winning silver is a pretty decent achievement.

Confusion here, but a familiar result. Fiji pinch the ball on the GB line and bully their way over. That's seven tries...

It's just struck me that the greased up man in Family Guy would make an excellent sevens player. "You can't catch me...."

    Last minute...

That GB score has briefly stopped me wondering if this is not only the most one-sided final of these Games, but any Games. Fiji are winning their first Olympic medal, a gold, with a performance of bulldozing domination.

I'm really pleased about that try. GB have been hugely disappointing. Get back and get another one.

Team GB actually turned the Fijians over for the first time, but all you saw then was a very fit Fiji side get back into position and tun the ball back over. This is a magnificent display by these amazing athletes from Fiji. They've gone completely into another gear.

This time. Fiji tear the ball from Britain's grasp and run in under the posts. It's a complete mugging. Surely there will not be a more one-sided final in these entire Olympic Games?

GB resort to kicking high into the Rio night. They are being overwhelmed by warriors in white. At least they've not conceded since half-time.

Second half much the same as the first. GB struggle to get out of their own half. Fijian territory is as mythical as Atlantis.

This is really disappointing. I thought it would be a close game. But the athleticism of this Fiji team - they can walk next to any athlete from any sport and have something special. They are fantastic Olympic athletes.
