Mako Vunipola shows up well with a hand-off and rumble forward.

Chris Robshaw gets his hands on the ball from a deft Courtney Lawes off load and England have momentum...

Ah, wasted. Jonathan Joseph cuffs his grubber kick out of play as he looks to unleash his wing.

There was a hint of wizardry in the way the ball landed in Stuart Hogg's hands for Scotland's first try...

Stuart McInally (41 mins); Con: Russell

    A two-for-one offer: a Scotland try and a fight.

Hooker Stuart McInally bundles over a third for the hosts after a line-out drive and there's a little dust-up between pretty much everyone.

After it's all died down, Finn Russell adds the extras.

Every series of rugby we have, the level of defence just seems to get better and more solid. There was absolutely no space for Nathan Hughes to get through there and he just smashed into the Pumas defence. They saw Hughes coming this time but Ben Youngs and the England runners are clearly working on a plan to get through.

  6. Penalty - England 6-3 Argentinapublished at 15:18 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

    George Ford (13 mins)

Argentina's backline fluff their lines on their own 10m line and Jonathan Joseph swoops on the loose ball to turnover possession.

Flanker Pablo Matera has his elbow on the ground as he goes in to try and retrieve the ball and is not bearing his own weight.

Penalty and it should be three for George Ford....it is.

What a player Huw Jones is. He's so strong and quick, just brushing through the Samoan defence there. That was really important as Scotland were under the cosh for a while there.

    Scotland 18-10 Samoa

Update from the sidelines. At first we thought WP Nel had gone off for a head injury assessment, but it turns out the Scotland prop has got a suspected broken arm. Ouch.

Meanwhile, Samoa almost gift Scotland a try with a terrible error from the line-out. Jack Lam tries to throw it to a blue shirt waiting in the back line but it evades everyone and ends up over the visitors' try line. Luckily, Paul Perez scrambles to spare their blushes.

  9. Penalty - England 3-3 Argentinapublished at 15:13 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

    Emiliano Boffelli

Sam Underhill makes a big hit on Santiago Gonzalez Iglesias as the Argentina centre bears down on George Ford.

That will win him brownie points from his 10.

But Dylan Hartley gets the wrong side. Jamie George watches on from the bench as Emiliano Boffelli steps up and knocks over the penalty to level up.

  11. Penalty - England 3-0 Argentinapublished at 15:12 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

    George Ford

Nice defensive work from Sam Underhill and Nathan Hughes as they sandwich Argentina skipper Agustin Creevy.

If it were a sandwich mind you, it would consist of 32oz steak between two similar slabs of meat.

Anyway, Argentina infringe as they scamper back and George Ford is going to take another pot at goal in an almost identical spot to his first missed effort.

This time it is on the money. First blood England.

  12. Ford off the markpublished at 15:12 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

    England 3-0 Argentina

    Matt Dawson
Former Lions and England scrum-half on BBC 5 live

Two good strikes from Ford for his penalties. Scoring that second one will settle his all-round game down nicely as he now doesn't need to worry about getting points on the board.

  13. try

Try - Scotland 18-10 Samoapublished at 15:11 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

    Huw Jones (34 mins)

    Pace, power...and over!

Scotland send the ball out wide and Stuart Hogg loops it over to Huw Jones, who hot-steps his way through two tackles to go over in the corner.

Finn Russell can't kick the tricky extras, though.

    Chris Paterson
Former Scotland international on BBC One

It was a late pass for Finn Russell, but so often the late passes are the ones that break the line.

Wilson looks disappointed not to take that but he’s such a good quality handler that he won’t let that get to him.

  15. Postpublished at 15:09 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

    Scotland 13-10 Samoa

Samoa try to gain some ground with a high kick down field but it's snatched superbly by Stuart Hogg. Ryan Wilson then fumbles the ball and it crashes out of his hands.

As an aside, Hogg has now become Scotland's joint-fourth highest try scorer with 17, level with his new coach Gregor Townsend, among others.

Anyway, on the pitch - the hosts have been forced into an early change, with prop Willem Nel forced off for a head injury assessment. He's replaced by Zander Fagerson.

Two side issues to note at Twickenham.

    1. We, here, are not fans of this change England kit with its 'ombre' (a new word for me) fade of red into black.

    2. The faded NFL markings are very helpful for working out the distance that the kickers have to make off the tee.

  17. Missed penaltypublished at 15:07 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

    England 0-0 Argentina

Mike Brown, the England full-back, passes his first test in the air.

Nathan Hughes gets a gallop into the Argentina defence.

The Pumas infringe and George Ford is going to take a pot at goal from around 45m out and pretty central.

Close, but no cigar as his effort hits the post and the scrapes are tidied up by the visitors.

England, sporting a jet black with red trim change number, get us under way with George Ford slapping the dropper up to the Pumas 22m.

  19. 'TMO convinced'published at 15:03 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

    Scotland 13-10 Samoa

    Chris Paterson
Former Scotland international on BBC One

It's certainly over the line and eventually at the end of that it's down.

He was certainly under control of the ball and the point of the ball nicks the ground.

It was direct, Jack Lam, the one-man wrecking ball has carried well so far and that's not bad from second row Josh Tyrell on his debut. He's convinced the TMO it was a try.

    England v Argentina (15:00 BST)

After a minute's silence to mark Remembrance Day, we are into the anthems at Twickenham.

Plenty of cymbal, bash and crash to the Argentine number.

Less tuneful, but more volume when it comes to the hosts.

Trackie tops discarded and we are ready to go....
