  1. New era for Wales?published at 17:06 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

    Martyn Williams
Former Lions and Wales flanker on BBC Radio 5 live

There’s excitement around the Principality as we’re not quite sure what to expect from the Welsh team. There are a lot of fresh faces and quite a few unknowns. I haven’t spoken to anyone who thinks we’ll beat Australia but could we see a new band of attacking rugby from the Welsh?

The bigger picture is the most important. It’s so tough against Australia. The fans just want to see the Welsh backline cause the Australians some problems.

As for Owen Williams, one thing I can tell you is that he won't be overawed. He won't be shy in backing himself.

Wales have won the toss, but according to the stadium announcer will wait "until closer to kick-off to see what the conditions are like then."

I'm not sure how they are going to change with the roof closed!

    Wales v Australia (17:15 GMT)

Former Wales international James Hook on BBC Radio 5 live: We’ve got lots of reasons to be optimistic. History doesn’t read too well but the changes we’ve made make us feel confident.

Everyone in Wales is happy with the selection and now it’s up to the players to deliver. Including Owen Williams at number 12 suggests a change in style and it’s great to see some promising youngsters coming through, even if we’re missing a few key players.

The last time Wales beat Australia, the score sheet was dominated by three men; Lee Byrne, Stephen Jones and Shane Williams.

    The year? 2008.

Since then Wales have lost their last 12 matches against the Wallabies, and they haven't won their opening game of an autumn series since 2002.

England have got through the game and they've won it. In preparation for next week, the England players now have a fresh understanding of what Test rugby is like and how fine the margins are. They were not quite sharp enough changing their tune throughout the game but they can prepare for Australia now.

The Wallabies have won seven of their last 12 games against Wales by just six points or less.

And Gatland, fresh off the back of the Lions tour, has opted for a change of tactic in Cardiff.

Owen Williams comes in at 12 for his first start alongside Jonathan Davies, the player of the tour in New Zealand, giving Wales two play-makers in the centre.

Gatland has also handed home debuts to wing Steff Evans and flanker Josh Navidi, a decision which has been well-received by Welsh fans who have been lobbying for his inclusion for at least five years.

  11. Warburton's comebackpublished at 16:57 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

    Wales v Australia (17:15 GMT)

    Sam Warburton
    Wales flanker on BBC Two

Wales flanker and British & Irish Lions captain Sam Warburton discusses the neck injury which has kept him out of action for the autumn internationals.

He said of his comeback: "I'm looking at January - three to four months out - I don't know exactly when. It's working well so far.

"I'm normally quite aggressive when I watch so I might have to tone it down."

England's players are taking their time out on the field with the post-match pleasantries.

Perhaps they are a little reluctant to head back to the hutch to see coach Eddie Jones.

He is lurking on the touchline and looks ready to dissect that corpse of a performance.

  13. England a bit 'rusty'published at 16:56 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

    Paul Grayson
    Former Lions and England fly-half

England were expected to put Argentina to the sword today but you've always got to shake off a bit of rust when you return to action. How they played didn't really explore the Ford-Slade axis to see if it worked. I think the game next week will be more instinctive as Australia will pose them more of a threat and that could suit England.

Nicolas Sanchez has brought some creativity to the Argentina attack. England ran out of defenders in the end. It just shows that if you can get some ball movement then the pace in the game picks up. Even against a stubborn line of 14 England defenders, he managed to find a pocket of space to score.

So if you've been turned away from rugby by England's boring attack, do not fear - Wales are up next against Australia.

And head coach Warren Gatland is ready to shake off the 'Warrenball' tag, having opted for a change of tactic in the centre.
