Today's performance is a stepping stone. The finishers have come on for England and added something. The team have now had some test time and there's plenty to work on. But that's going to be what they want. This display will focus the mind ready for Australia next week.

I don't think that Eddie Jones has been fooled by the state of the scoreline.

Every time the camera pans to him the in the stands, the Australian has his stare set to stun.

This has been a well-below par performance for England and he knows it.

And Argentine are into the England 22m with seven minutes on the clock...

A double swap in the front row for England with Exeter's Harry Williams and Leicester's Ellis Genge - a Tasmanian devil in the loose - into the fray.

And Sam Simmonds is going to get a chance to show his pace as Nathan Hughes gives way.

England have outmuscled Argentina with their defence and taken their two opportunities. In that regard, they've been pretty ruthless.

Semesa Rokoduguni (66 mins) Con: Ford

It was piano-string tight call but the referee gives the hosts the benefit of the doubt and Semesa Rokoduguni has his try.

It was a lovely arcing break from Alex Lozowski on the previous phase to set him up.

A superb conversion from the touchline from George Ford to plump up the scoreline still further.

Ches: #bbcrugby without Billy Vunipola, England are missing front foot ball. Nathan Hughes is good but he isn't great. England are ordinary against a poor side.

Another kicker, the same old sorry result for Argentina.

The Pumas would lead had they landed their four missed kicks.

Man of the match and Scotland hooker Stuart McInally speaking on BBC One:

"I'm delighted with the win, I benefited from the work the forwards did in front of me and I was at the back of the maul to touch them down.

"Forty four points scored today but a lot of work to do ahead of next week.

"I'm just really pleased to be playing after not playing at all for them last year."

    England 14-3 Argentina

    Matt Dawson

There hasn't been much action in either 22. No-one has really got into their rhythm even with Argentina's possession. It's been cagey between two teams who clearly haven't played for a long time. England's training has been really intense this week and it does look like they are a bit leggy.

Juan Martin Hernandez draws some appreciative oohs and ahhs as he flicks a pass off the fingertips to a fellow Puma.

It has been a rare bit of magic in a dog of a game though. Twickenham sounds like it is located somewhere in deep space such is the lack of atmosphere.
