  1. Four down, one to gopublished at 17:17 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2018

The 2018 Six Nations championship is drawing to a close. So prepare yourselves.

Next weekend, Ireland head to Twickenham with the biggest prize still on offer, the Grand Slam.

Can England exact their revenge one-year on from their defeat in Dublin?

And who will claim the runners-up spot? Wales host France in Cardiff, while Scotland travel to Rome to take on a sorry Italian side.

Get your rest, it'll be a big one. Goodbye.

Conor Ritchie: Georgia (and Romania) are playing at a better level now than Italy were in the 90s. If Georgia make the quarter-finals of the World Cup next year, I can't see a case for keeping them out any longer. Italy simply aren't good enough.

  3. Watch: Italy's Bellini scores late trypublished at 17:16 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2018

    FT: Wales 38-14 Italy

One last try clip for the road?

Italy didn't have a great day, but they were the final team to cross the white line.

The try-scorer was Bellini though it will be the Welsh fans sipping a celebratory cocktail or two in Cardiff tonight.

  4. Italy win wooden spoonpublished at 17:12 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2018

    FT: Wales 38-14 Italy

Wales go into the final weekend second in the table, one place above England.

It comes as no surprise that Italy are bottom and have won the wooden spoon with a week to spare.

Ross: I don't see a two-legged play-off with the best team in the second tier doing any harm. Money for both nations from television, bit of pressure to improve on the established team and a huge incentive for developing sides.

Bruce Henderson: Maybe there could be a seventh team added by invitation each year for the next five years (maybe), add an extra game for each team with a view to either expanding into some form of league/knock-out format or two leagues as suggested - but develop things gradually.

Stockton: They should set up a second division, where the winners get three Autumn internationals against Six Nation sides. That would allow us to see who is making progress and will replace the Autumn matches v Samoa, etc.

A lot of you have been getting in touch questioning Italy's place in the Six Nations.

The Italians fell to their 16th straight defeat this afternoon. Here's what you've been saying...

  9. 'Second place decent for Wales'published at 17:06 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2018

    FT: Wales 38-14 Italy

    Sam Warburton
    Wales flanker on BBC One

Before this championship began I thought Wales would win their home games and struggle away - which is what has happened - so I think second place is a decent return for them.

Wales scored three tries in the second-half and here are the final two.

Wales centre Hadleigh Parkes speaking on BBC One:

"I thought I got that ball down for the try but we got the bonus point in the end so I'm happy with that.

"It was a huge opportunity for the boys and for Cubby too to get his debut. Next weekend is very exciting, it's going to be another big game. Warren wanted two wins so we're half-way there."

  12. 'Simple errors for Italy'published at 17:01 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2018

    FT: Wales 38-14 Italy

    Martyn Williams
Former Lions and Wales flanker on BBC One

When Wales were down to 13 men, Italy did have some opportunities, but there were some simple errors that gifted Wales possession and relieved all of the pressure.

  13. 'Faletau so influential'published at 17:01 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2018

    FT: Wales 38-14 Italy

    Sam Warburton
    Wales flanker on BBC One

Taulupe Faletau has been such an influential player for Wales since he burst onto the scene, and I'm so happy for him today, because now when he finishes his career he can say he captained Wales.

  14. 'A great honour'published at 17:01 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2018

Wales number eight Taulupe Faletau is a man of few words.

But Sonja McLaughlan got at least three sentences out of the Wales captain on BBC One.

"It was good, we wanted the five points today and we played well in phases. Overall we're pleased with the result," he said.

"It was a great honour to lead the boys out down the tunnel."

Matthew Boulton: Good win in the end Wales. Now to look ahead to France where I’m sure there will be dubious HIA’s involving the French front row and an extra ten minutes added to the second half by the referee!

CJC: Italy did better v Wales than Scotland did...

  16. 'Handsome Wales, valiant Italy'published at 16:56 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2018

    FT: Wales 38-14 Italy

    Jonathan Davies
Former Wales international on BBC One

A handsome win for Wales - they were much better in the second half. But it was a valiant effort by Italy, and they'll just wish they converted pressure into points early in the second half.

Cliff: Rather than drop Italy let them play all five games at home where they are more competitive. Then the other five teams would have to earn the bonus point.

David: How about anyone who's bottom of the six nations twice in a rolling 3/4/5 year period is replaced by another European team.

    Wales 38-14 Italy

Italy win a penalty with the clock well into red, Carlo Canna kicks to touch and we play on.

The Italian coaches look ready to head to the dressing room, but their players have other ideas.

They win a line-out, now it doesn't matter, and they're trying to run it here but it's spilled forward.
