    Wales 38-14 Italy

We're into the last minute and Wales have a line-out on the five-metre line.

George North thinks he's scored on the right wing, but his hat-trick try will be taken away from him. Wales knocked the ball on through Aled Davies way back in the move.

A wry smile on the face of the Saints winger. He's had a brilliant game in the red shirt.

Robbie Bobson: The problem with relegating the sixth team in the Six Nations for someone like Georgia means that in the odd year we will lose a side like Scotland or Wales and thereby lose the magic of what has always been a home nations tournament. Italy haven’t always been last.

Tommaso Benvenuti with a deliberate knock-on as Owen Watkin tries to find Rhys Patchell with a flat pass.

That's an easy one to sort out, and Benvenuti will go for an early shower.

More work for the TMO, Marius Jonker.

    We're looking for a deliberate knock-on.

At some point there has to be a cut-off point for Italy, because there are tier-two nations who are making huge strides, and could potentially, or in the future, perform better in the Six Nations.

I don't think it should be a simple up-down system every year, but the smaller nations need to be given chances at the major tournaments, because otherwise they'll never be self-sufficient and will continue to rely on financial support from World Rugby.

    Mattia Bellini, con Canna

Quite against the run of play, Mattia Bellini scores in the corner.

Carla Canna wins a brilliant turnover, Italy create the overlap and Bellini just has to stroll over in the corner after a pop pass from Federico Ruzza.

Canna then adds the extras and the visiting fans have something to celebrate.

  8. North on firepublished at 76 mins

    Wales 38-7 Italy

In addition to his two tries, George North has been the most potent attacking threat on the pitch.

The Northampton winger has made headlines in recent weeks after Saints boss Alan Gaffney suggested he did not want to play for his club in the rest week.

But he's been back to his best for Wales this afternoon.

Wales had an overlap for a good three phases before they made it count. Justin Tipuric has had another good game today, and he's definitely good enough to take that lofted pass and finish it off.

    Justin Tipuric, con Halfpenny

And that's a beautiful floated pass from Parkes out to Justin Tipuric on the wing. No-one is stopping the flanker from that position.

Rhys Patchell was involved in the move again, bar that first disastrous kick to touch, he's looked lively since replacing Gareth Anscombe.

And the ever-reliable Leigh Halfpenny adds another two to the Wales tally.

    Wales 31-7 Italy

Hadleigh Parkes has put in a shift for Wales this afternoon.

The New Zealand born centre, who only made his debut in the autumn after qualifying on residency, has made 11 carries and beaten five defenders.

Steve: It's about time Italy were shown the trapdoor. There are enough fixtures in a season without players having to endure a formality of a win against an "always improving but never going to win" Italy. Give the players a rest.

Claire: England played a hell of a lot worse yesterday than Italy have today. Let’s get rid of them instead...

Claire bringing a bit of balance to the debate. Who else likes Claire's idea?

Jonathan Gough: As great as the Six Nations is what is the point in Italy? Pointless, boring games and just a matter of how many the opposition will score. I know they need to develop game but they've had enough chances and they are equivalent to old bye weekend in Five Nations.

Rhodri Jones, who was called onto the bench as a late replacement for Samson Lee, takes the field for Wales and will have just over 10 minutes to put in a performance.

James Davies and Cory Hill have also gone off, with Seb Davies and Ellis Jenkins entering the fold.

    That's the whole bench emptied.

Marcus: A lot of European sides deserve a shot (Georgia/Romania etc). There should be a second-tier tournament where the winner takes the sixth spot next year.

Stephen Hamilton: Italy have failed to make the step up to become competitive at this level. Other countries such as Georgia, Romania and now Spain deserve to be given a crack at it.

But they didn't have to wait long. Wales are moving to second in the table.

Good work by the forwards, Aled Davies feeds Rhys Patchell who has enough strength to offload to North, who strolls over for his second of the afternoon.

Leigh Halfpenny takes over kicking duties and slots it straight down the middle.

Hadleigh Parkes looked to have wriggled his way over the white line but the TMO says he can't be 100% sure he has scored.

Huge boos from the crowd, who look on in disbelief. Warren Gatland looks like he disagrees too.

Wales still waiting for the bonus-point score.

  19. Try reviewpublished at 65 mins

    Wales 24-7 Italy

Ironic cheers from the Welsh crowd. Rhys Patchell had a nightmare with his first kick of the game, missing touch from the penalty, but that's better from the replacement fly-half.

Wales collect the line-out and Rob Evans drives Wales to within one metre of the line.

Hadleigh Parkes spins, wrestles and the dives over the whitewash, but has he got that down?

"I have no idea," says referee Jerome Garces and we go to the TMO.

Can you think of a better player than Sergio Parisse to lose nearly 100 Test matches? It must take remarkable mental fortitude for him to keep playing week in, week out, knowing that he's likely to come out on the end of a defeat.
