Converted try - Wales 24-7 Italypublished at 43 mins

    Cory Hill, con Anscombe

Wales are off in the second half. Warren Gatland's side score a try with a man down.

A quick play from the ruck, Italy caught dozing and Cory Hill dives over from close-range - his first try for his country.

A simple score, and a simple conversion for Gareth Anscombe.

    Wales 17-7 Italy

Italy are in all sorts of trouble. Their defensive line-out right on their own line just about lands in blue hands, they fire the ball back into their in-goal area and Gareth Davies charges down Matteo Minozzi's clearing kick.

A great chase from the Wales scrum-half and the 14-man team will have an attacking scrum.

Kyle Burrows: Frustrating half for Wales so far despite the 10-point lead.

Gareth Rees: That was never a yellow - perfectly fair tackle.

The crowd were disgusted with the yellow card decision, but for one moment I did wonder if Jerome Garces was going to show the red for that Liam Williams tackle.

  7. 'Perfect North'published at 16:02 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2018

I think George North has been pretty much perfect in this first half - every time he's had the ball he's looked like making a break or scoring a try.

Italy were slightly lucky towards the end of the first half not to concede more, but it's still a very open game.

  8. Half-time statspublished at 16:01 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2018

    Wales 17-7 Italy

Wales made 81 tackles to just 43 by Italy in the first half - but Italy have missed eight, Wales just four.

Wales have run for 246m while Italy, despite their possession (they have made 90 passes to 58), have made just 130m.

But it's Wales' high turnover rate which is stinging Warren Gatland's side this afternoon.

    Wales-Italy

    Turnovers conceded: 9-5

    Clean breaks: 3-2

    Defenders beaten: 8-4

    Turnovers won: 3-4

    Ruck success rate: 89.7% - 96.5%

    Martyn Williams
Former Lions and Wales flanker on BBC One

For me, it was a straight forward yellow card for Liam Williams. But it is a difficult one. I don't think Williams has intentionally gone for his head, but there is contact, and he can count himself lucky it's not a red.

    The Welsh Dragon is correct.

Italy were leading by four points at half-time in Rome last year. In fact, they were only four points adrift at the hour mark.

Wales only managed to open up the Italian defence when prop Andrea Lovotti was sent to the sin-bin on 59 minutes, scoring 30 unanswered points.

But they still missed out on the try bonus-point.

Harry Shotton: Liam Williams always has a cheap shot in him. Talented player with a discipline problem.

Ken Bowen: Rugby is going soft. It’s a contact sport for gods sake. Yellow card for Liam Williams!!!

The Welsh Dragon: It's funny everyone saying the 10 changes are to blame. Half Time v Italy last year with a 'full strength' XV we was losing !!!

    Wales 17-7 Italy

    Sam Warburton
    Wales flanker on BBC One

Italy did really well not to cave after going 14-0 down. But they've actually been really good - Wales have profited from their mistakes - but on the whole Italy have had the better of it.

Wales haven't really created a lot through Gareth Anscombe - there haven't been enough runners from deep - and I think that's something [Wales head coach] Warren Gatland will look to put right in the second half.

The shoulder does make contact with the jaw - but I don't think there's anything wrong with it. But with the letter of the law - it's above the neck - so it should be a yellow card.

  16. Half-time - Wales 17-7 Italypublished at 15:51 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2018

A bit of drama to end the half. The Welsh crowd don't like it but Williams is sent to the bin right at the death after his shoulder made contact with the neck of Matteo Minozzi.

Wales try to run it, Liam Williams hits Matteo Minnozi hard in the corner and all the players pile in to back up their team-mates in a scuffle.

Elliot Dee with a brilliant charge down and the Wales hooker is held back there, surely?

He gets two hands to Marcello Violo's box kick but he's pulled back by the scrum-half as he tries to gather.

Just a penalty, though, according to Jerome Garces.
