10 minutes into this half and nothing's happened, Sinckler's ready to come on and that will add to the power game.

It's England's ill discipline, inability to tackle and struggling to create when they're on the attack, that's what's making this game easier for Japan.

Nick Powell: Based on this performance, Elliot Daly’s days as England’s full back should be over.

Tony Chedzey: Surely this pitiful performance from England shows why Danny Cipriani needs to be selected. Lack of threat, lack of invention and lack of ability to think on their feet. When will Eddie Jones admit he is wrong and select arguably THE form English fly-half.

Lee: A total embarrassment. England's penalty count sky high as usual. Sad to think that this is the England squad going into the next World Cup in less than a year. Another humiliation then I should imagine

I mean they were one point off the All Blacks a week ago Lee, let's not be too down eh?

Japan double-bag on Joe Cokanasiga and their tag-team tactic, just about keeps the England wing in check.

Elliot Daly pokes a kick over the top, but that is over-cooked and runs dead.

The Japanese are working really hard to have someone outside in defence which means they're only offering England the inside.

They're looking so dangerous with ball in hand these little offloads are making all the difference for Japan.

They keep finding space in the wide positions, again that man Leitch is out there he's stepped Slade so easily - that's a flanker stepping a centre!

But Jack Nowell knocks on out wide.

Japan don't hang around. They sling wide and counter hard. Michael Leitch lurking in the outside channels, puts an ankle-icing step on Henry Slade and offloads.

Another back of the hand pass from Yu Tamura.

This is delicious rugby from the visitors. So much to like about it.

Simon Gleave, head of sports analysis, Gracenote:

"Japan have not led away from home at the break against one of the top nations since their 1986 Test at Twickenham against an England XV. That day England didn't award caps to those playing and were 12-6 down at half-time. The England XV recovered in the second half to win 39-12.

"This is only the third time that Japan have led at half-time in an away match against one of the top nations. The first was against France in Bordeaux in 1973 when the French came back from 10-7 down at half-time to win 30-18."

Mark: Think it's obvious that the last two performances have flattered England. Japan have been superb but this is why the host have only won twice in eight. Japan are so new age and expensive while England's game plan appears mired in the Jurassic period.

David: Why is anyone surprised? The Japan performance against NZ two weeks ago was similarly superb

Rae: Will England EVER, EVER stop conceding so many penalties, there will be no real success until they sort out their discipline.

Chris Moule: Kick it to the opposition - and again - and again - and again - and again - and again - and again - and again...rinse & repeat and then wonder why Japan have scored and England have no territory advantage.

Like the scoreline, the stats don't make pretty reading for England.

The hosts have had 31% of possession and only 23% of territory.

    The rest of the stats:

    England-Japan

    Metres made: 159-260

    Clean breaks: 2-6

    Defenders beaten: 7-13

    Offloads: 3-6

    Penalties conceded: 7-1

    Ugly.

Who would have thought this would be the scoreline at half-time? The skill levels, the intensity and the imagination from this Japan side has been excellent.

England have been so poor defensively, they haven't won their one-on-one tackles and they've given away far to many penalties.

Eddie Jones must use these these 15 minutes wisely as England need to come out much better for the second half.

    Ian Robertson
BBC rugby correspondent on BBC Radio 5 live

This has been a very painful 40 minutes for Eddie Jones. We have to assume England will transform into the team they should be in the second half.

It's been an amazing half from a fanatically competitive Japanese team, but England are making a mess of it.
