    England 10-15 Japan

England turn over the ball. Are they going to go from deep?

No, Danny Care has seen enough of this half of rugby and boots the ball dead.

George Ford calls his team together on the pitch to administer a ticking off before Eddie Jones detonates his own nuclear-grade rollicking.

Japan are thumping up around the fringes. They are five out as the clock ticks red...

  3. 'Japan have been dominant'published at 15:44 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2018

    Former England winger at Twickenham

This is now massively concerning, the ease at which Japan are getting round England.

Leitch is practically a part-time winger and Japan have been dominant.

One things for certain we're going to see lots of changes at half-time, this isn't the standards Eddie Jones sets.

    England 10-15 Japan

Michael Leitch with a charge down the line!

Can he get into the corner?

Alex Lozowski just about gets across to make the tackle and Henry Slade nabs his basketball-style offload inside.

But it is a scrum down Japan, five out.

England are hanging on by the skin of their gumguards.

    England 10-15 Japan

There is more sleight of hand in this Japan team than in a convention of card sharps.

A lovely inside pass over his shoulder from Ryoto Nakamura almost springs a runner.

    England 10-15 Japan

England give away their sixth penalty of the match as they chase up Elliot Daly's booming clearance but flop off their feet at the breakdown.

The visitors have offered up just one so far.

This stadium is so quiet. I've been here the last couple of weeks and it's been rocking but today it's so quiet.

  8. Replacementpublished at 34 mins

    England 10-15 Japan

Jamie George is back from his sin-binning. England need him.

But Chris Ashton has a leg injury. He is off and getting some ice on his calf.

Henry Slade is off the bench and into midfield. Jack Nowell is shoved out to the wing.

Zach Mercer is back at eight with Dylan Hartley back in his trackie.

    England 10-15 Japan

    Paul Grayson
Former England fly-half on BBC Radio 5 live

Japan are playing with invention and pace and when they eventually got the ball to Michael Leitch, he still had so much to do. It was a brilliant finish, he could have been a full-back.

    What brilliant play from Japan!

From Leitch, we know his quality and importance to this team.

Could we be seeing a repeat of that South Africa game in 2015? Leitch was dancing and finishing like any world class winger there.

    Michael Leitch

This is summer sevens exhibition stuff.

And a horror show for England.

Sublime high-wire offloads, delicate grubbers, electric bursts, Japan show off the full repertoire before Michael Leitch darts down the side of the breakdown, sells Elliot Daly a sidestep and dives over for a second try.

    The conversion drifts just wide.

    England 10-10 Japan

Japan are mixing it up, ducking and diving like a peak-era Prince Naseem.

A quick line-out catches England out and they are moving the ball quickly out of hand.

    England 10-10 Japan

    Paul Grayson
Former England fly-half on BBC Radio 5 live

England need to wake up. They've got to play with some pace and dynamism because they're running at about 60% at the moment.

  14. Penalty - England 10-10 Japanpublished at 28 mins

    Elliot Daly

    Th-wack!

Elliot Daly's instep slaps the ball over from halfway and England are back level.

  15. Postpublished at 27 mins

    England 7-10 Japan

England win a penalty at scrum-time on the halfway line.

Elliot Daly is going to load up that siege-gun right peg.

Some jeers from the Twickenham crowd at that call after the adventure and innovation of the visitors...

  16. 'They're by themselves'published at 15:29 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2018

    England 7-10 Japan

    Danielle Waterman
Former England women's international on BBC Radio 5 live

I don't think England are really challenging Japan. Some of their carries have been ineffective because they're by themselves, there's no one leaching on and taking them into the collisions.

    England 7-10 Japan

Japan have dominated possession and territory.

This has not been a ram-raid on the England tryline, they have applied consistent concerted pressure.

Eddie Jones is off his feet and glaring down at the pitch. There is a paint-stripper of a half-time team-talk brewing...

Well you've just got to say it's not inventive, it's just direct.

In international rugby, sometimes you just have to test the opposition - see if they're willing to put the big tackle in on you and Nakamura has just rolled over Lozowski.

You can't say Japan don't deserve it.

    England 7-10 Japan

    Paul Grayson
Former England fly-half on BBC Radio 5 live

Japan took the lead against New Zealand and they've taken the lead here.

We were wondering what magic they were going to come up with. It was as complicated as Ryoto Nakamura taking the ball and running at George Ford.

  20. try

    Ryoto Nakamura (con Tamura)

And it is nothing less than Japan deserve.

Centre Ryoto Nakamura takes a crash ball straight off his scrum-half, puts a step on Alex Lozowski and plunges over the whitewash.

    An eerie atmosphere around Twickenham.

This is not how it was supposed to go.

    Conversion from Yu Tamura.
