  2. Scots start with a bangpublished at 13:52 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2019

    Scotland v Ireland (14:15)

By contrast, Scotland powered past a meek Italy team at Murrayfield.

They didn't end strongly, though, shipping three tries in seven minutes.

Defend as poorly as that today, and Ireland could run riot.

  3. What happened last week?published at 13:49 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2019

    Scotland v Ireland (14:15)

    Sorry, Ireland fans...

Here's what happened in Dublin last week, when Eddie Jones' chariot made roadkill of the defending champions.

  4. 'Monumental test' for Ireland - Schmidtpublished at 13:44 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2019

    Scotland v Ireland (14:15)

Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt says he's "more hopeful than confident" about the challenge ahead.

"It's pretty hard coming to Murrayfield, I think this is a rejuvenated Scottish environment, not just this team but in the provinces as well," Schmidt added.

"They've got a number of threats across the park that are going to make it really difficult.

"In the context of last week's game we can't afford to look back too long, we have to look forwards.

"We know it's going to be a monumental test for us."

  5. Score a hat-trick... then get droppedpublished at 13:39 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2019

    Scotland v Ireland (14:15)

Score your country's first championship hat-trick in 30 years, deliver a man-of-the-match performance and make all 12 of your attempted tackles, and you can consider yourself pretty unlucky to be dropped the following week.

Short of striking oil in the North Sea or leading the national football team to the World Cup finals, there's virtually nothing more Blair Kinghorn could have done to keep his jersey.

The 22-year-old Edinburgh full-back, deployed on the wing in round one, ran in Scotland's first-ever Six Nations hat-trick while beating six defenders and making 89m with ball in hand.

He's riding the bench today, with Gregor Townsend opting to start the fit-again Sean Maitland - a highly experienced campaigner, excellent defender and scorer of six tries in his last eight Test starts.

  6. Simply the Best?published at 13:35 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2019

    Scotland v Ireland (14:15)

Ireland captain Rory Best says there's been a "lot of frustration" in the camp this week - and no wonder.

The defending champions took an absolute pasting from England on their own patch seven days ago. It was Ireland's second loss in 20 Tests.

"It was a bit about the way that we were perceived to be bullied, but it was mostly around our accuracy," said the 36-year-old hooker.

"We felt that to get into the game we need to be accurate, and that comes hand in hand with physicality for us because it allows us to get phases, carries and ruck cleans and it gets us out of our own half and it allows us to attack a bit more in defence.

"So the accuracy last week was the thing that we felt let us down the most."

  7. Welcome alongpublished at 13:24 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2019

    Scotland v Ireland (14:15)

    This should be a belter.

Scotland, an emerging force desperate to underline their credentials as title contenders.

Ireland, defending champions sorely wounded by a chastening loss to England last week.

    Buckle up and enjoy...
