Penalty Try- Scotland 27-0 Samoapublished at 56 mins

There's the third try. Basically, Samoa winger Ed Fidow came in from the side to stop Fraser Brown grounding that ball. As a result, referee Pascal Gauzere awards a penalty try and Fidow has been sent to the sin-bin.

Samoa down to 14 as Scotland need one more try for the bonus point.

Fraser Brown, the replacement hooker, thinks he's scored here, the TMO is checking it...

Finn Russell's grubber comes to nothing but Scotland had the penalty advantage and they'll take the 5m line-out once more as Stuart Hogg prods the ball into touch.

    Scotland 20-0 Samoa

It's another wasted opportunity as the pressure mounts on Scotland to get that bonus point. Finn Russell's looping pass goes over Darcy Graham's head and into touch.

Remember, Scotland need two more tries for maximum points. They need to bring more accuracy, but they have the line-out and now rumble their maul forwards...

Boom, a scrum penalty goes Scotland's way in front of the Samoan posts. The backs will be licking their lips...

So, so frustrating as Sam Johnson knocks on as he makes an attempt at crashing over the line. That was such a promising attacking position for Scotland. Samoa have the scrum.

Meanwhile, Grant Gilchrist has to depart for Scott Cummings after a fierce hit by TJ Ioane.

    Scotland 20-0 Samoa

Another penalty and another Stuart Hogg kick gives Scotland a line-out in the Samoa 22.

    Scotland 20-0 Samoa

Tim Nanai-Williams thought he was through for a try there, but advantage was being played to Scotland. Finn Russell had attempted a clever kick which turned out to be none too clever as it bounced into the Samoan full-backs arms.

We go back for the penalty though and Stuart Hogg will aim to boom another kick down the pitch.

  9. Errors creeping into Scotland's gamepublished at 12:33 British Summer Time 30 September 2019

    Scotland 20-0 Samoa

    Rory Lawson
    Former Scotland captain

A couple of errors starting to slip into Scotland's play. You would expect Scotland to come out with the same energy at least to start the second-half, sometimes the break takes the momentum away, but a couple of unforced errors have crept into their game.

  10. Postpublished at 47 mins

    Scotland 20-0 Samoa

A solid driving maul earns Samoa the penalty and Tusi Pisi goes for the corner once more. It's been a low-tempo start by Scotland. Very disappointing.

    Scotland 20-0 Samoa

Samoa get the scrum after a forward pass as Scotland made their way into Samoan territory. WP Nel then gets penalised for not driving straight and it's an opportunity for Tusi Pisi to get his side deep into Scottish territory, which he takes.

  12. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Scotland 20-0 Samoa

That's great play by Samoan wing Ed Fidow as he dinks a kick over the top and very nearly gets on the end of it, but it bounces into the arms of Darcy Graham.

Tusi Pisi then gets penalised and Scotland can clear. That's an early warning though, the Samoans won't go away easily.

You have to question the Rugby World Cup organisers for closing this roof. These are top-class players spilling the ball left, right and centre. This is not normal and it is because the roof is closed and the conditions in here are so slippy.

Why not open the roof? It's a crazy decision.

It's closed due to tournament rules. Some would want it open, some want it closed.

Nervy but a competent first half. Scotland have dominated, they deserve to be 20 points up. They are looking good and fit, although watching them walking off at half-time they were blowing hard. If they could have got that try before half time it would have really set them up, but there are guys who can add to this tempo.
