Scotland 3-0 Samoa
That's about the most bizarre attempted pass you'll ever see from Sean Maitland, he spun nearly 360 degrees before dropping it. Samoa now have a platform on halfway to launch a meaningful attack.

No mistake from the ever-reliable Laidlaw. It bissects the posts and Scotland are up and running. It's reward for a good start.
Laidlaw is now over 700 points for Scotland.

Quote MessageScotland are playing a more rounded game. A very good start. Less mad-cap stuff.
Scotland 0-0 Samoa
Scotland are slowly building pressure as Finn Russell drills a kick into the Samoan 22. The Pacific Islanders will have the lineout. It's all Scotland so far but without a breakthrough.
Scotland 0-0 Samoa
It's a scrum to Samoa, six metres from their own try line. Jack Lam, the Samoa captain, has also just hobbled off. A big loss.
Scotland 0-0 Samoa
This is a rare good start by Scotland, Darcy Graham is set scampering away down the right wing and into the Samoan 22. They work it left but then get penalised. It was lovely play to get Graham into space and the diminutive winger did really well.
Scotland 0-0 Samoa
A good exit by Scotland, a carry from Magnus Bradbury and Greig Laidlaw hoists one into touch around the halfway line.

BBC Scotland at Kobe Misaki Stadium
Whoever made the decision to close the roof on the Misaki Stadium needs a serious talking to. It’s an old cliche, but it really is like a sauna in here.
You wonder how that humidity will impact the Scotland players. They would always back themselves to be fitter than any team they face, and there is an assumption Samoa will tire in the last quarter. But these conditions will be energy sapping for both sides.

These two sides met at the World Cup in England in 2015 in the final round of Pool matches, and it was close. Greig Laidlaw scored and converted a late try as the Scots won 36-33 at St James' Park to move into the knockout stages.
For the nation's sake we could do without a repeat of that kind of nerve-shredding tension.

It's a big occasion for every single Scotland player, but it's also a chance for a few incomers to the starting line-up to really put their hand up for selection after others let themselves down against Ireland.
First of all Darcy Graham, with five tries in eight Tests so far, has the opportunity to nail down that right-wing berth. He's been electric whenever he's played for Scotland so far, punching well above his weight with electric pace to boot.
Big performances are also needed from the back-row, with Scotland all too often out-muscled up top. Can Magnus Bradbury, Jamie Ritchie and Blade Thomson, winning just his fourth cap, provide the necessary grunt?

Samoa head coach Steve Jackson says he was rooting for Japan in their surprise win over group favourites Ireland and the hosts' victory will be an inspiration to his side against Scotland.
"I take my hat off to Japan," he says. "It was great to watch and, like any other team, we were almost cheering.
"Now we will focus on Scotland and, if it goes the way we hope, it'll be another upset there. It just goes to show that you've got to turn up on the day and play a game of 80 minutes."

Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend tells BBC Scotland that his side are determined to match other sides who have managed to "play close to their potential".
"It is obviously motivation to play much better tonight to show a true picture of who we are," he says.
"We know how tough it will be, but we believe we'll show a much better performance and that it will be enough for us to win."
Asked if Samoa's physicality is the main danger, he says: "That and the ambition they play with.
"It's sweaty conditions here tonight and so far Samoa have moved the ball from their own 22 - they did that very well against us at the last World Cup - so we've got to put their handling skills under pressure.
"When they're carrying ball, they will hit us hard. When we're carrying ball, we know they are going to hit us hard. I believe we'll see more mauls and more scrums tonight just given the conditions."
