"I have picked Djokovic to win this year but it is truly a pleasure to watch Nadal play. I hope all of the top seeds make it into the second week."
Rafael Nadal is straining on the reins, keen to get back to the stable and take on some oats. The Spaniard is a break up on Martin Klizan in the fourth. Nadal 4-6 6-3 6-3 4-2 Klizan.
John Lloyd
Former British number one on BBC TV
"Dan Smethurst can't believe that final shot of the first set was in. He thinks the machine was wrong. It did look like it was out. I don't think John Isner thought it was in either, even though he made the challenge. But the umpire can't overrule Hawk-Eye. That was unbelievable. It was such a disappointing end to that set. Smethurst played so well for much of that set, but just lost his discipline in terms of shot selection towards the end of it."
Dan Smethurst looked set fair for a tie-break, but the 23-year-old Briton has been edged out at the death of the first set by John Isner.
The American snipped the line with a cross-court forehand which was upheld on appeal to Hawk-Eye and has a one-set lead, 7-5, after 43 minutes.

Image source, Reuters"The outer courts at Wimbledon are a wonderful throwback with spectators, coaches and press all watching from wooden benches lined up along the sides. Over on Court 10 there's a match between Herbert and Sock. They may sound like a firm of solicitors but the slugfest between Frenchman Pierre-Hugues and American Jack is captivating watchers as Sock levels at one set all."
Over on Court One, an early break of serve for Daniela Hantuchova against young Canadian tyro Eugenie Bouchard. Bouchard has had her chances - three break points in Hantuchova's first service game - but she failed to take any of them, and the Slovakian leads 3-1.
Where is the stardust in the late afternoon sun then?
I'd direct your gaze to court 18 where Gael Monfils's elastic limbs will be covering every blade against Malek Jaziri. Five games apiece in the opening set.
Or court 17 where Taylor Townsend, who earned a #talent from Andy Murray on Twitter earlier this year, is about to open hostilities against Klara Koukalova.
Martin Klizan takes a long slow walk to his chair, but Hawk-Eye is not going to save him. The swooshy virtual reality replay shows his final shot in the rally flying long and he has conceded the third set with a break.
Nadal 4-6 6-3 6-3 Klizan now and you would not bet on it sticking around for a fifth set.
Image source, APBelinda Bencic, a former junior finalist at Wimbledon and widely tipped to be a future top five player, has seen off Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia 2-6 6-3 6-3.
The 17-year-old Swiss will play either Victoria Duval or Sorana Cirstea in the second round.
Image source, EPAPortugal's Michelle Larcher de Brito has caused a bit of a shock out on Court 17 by beating Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova, the 28th seed, 3-6 6-3 6-1.
Larcher de Brito arrived at the All England Club in good form, having reached the semi-finals of Nottingham earlier this month.
The 21-year-old also beat Maria Sharapova in the Wimbledon second round last year in straight sets as a qualifier.

The Slovak nicks a game against the head and is back within striking distance, but trails 4-6 6-3 4-2.
Roger Federer hardly broke sweat as he dispatched Paolo Lorenzi 6-1 6-1 6-3 earlier today. There were many impressive points, but we've selected five of the best. Watch them here or via our tennis pages.
You can also watch Israel's Julia Glushko hit a forehand into the umpires knee during her first round match against Sabine Lisicki and highlights of Martin Klizan impressive start to his match against Rafael Nadal.

Daniel Smethurst began the year ranked 403 but has grafted hard on the lower tiers of the tour to break into the top 250.
The Mancunian 23-year-old has the look of chief prefect, smart hair, pristine collar and only the merest hint of bristle around his chops.
He is holding his own against the King Kong of serve, John Isner. It is 2-2 in the opening set on court three.
Ivo Karlovic, all 6ft 11in of him and seeded 29, is out in the first round, defeated 4-6 6-7 (5-7) 6-7 (4-7) by Frank Dancevic of Canada.
Karlovic, a former world number 14, has pedigree here. He beat defending champion Lleyton Hewitt in the first round at the All England Club on his 2003 debut, the only time a reigning men's champion has exited at such an early stage.
But today it's Karlovic heading home after just one match.
Deletsu D Selase:, external "Shorts, left shoulder, right shoulder, nose, tuck hair behind left ear then right ear... now I am ready to serve" - Nadal.

Jon de Beaux:, external Footballers know Nadal is special because when he falls over he gets up and carries on.
The set-up of Centre Court is making it hard for Rafael Nadal to stick to his superstitions. The Spaniard has to put in a giant stride to clear the tramlines and make it through the narrow gap between the net post and the umpires chair to get back to his stool at the changeover.
Virginia Wade
1977 Wimbledon champion on BBC TV
"A first-class performance from Maria Sharapova. She had a stumble at the beginning when she was struggling with her serve, but other than that, she was efficiency itself. She looks in fantastic shape for this tournament. She seems full of confidence. She's arguably the most famous female athlete in the world, and boy, does she carry herself well with her performances."
It's been a perfect day in the office for 2004 Wimbledon champion Maria Sharapova, who cruises past Britain's Samantha Murray 6-1 6-0 in just 58 minutes.
Image source, EPAMartin Klizan's set and a half of fame might be coming to an end. His meaty forehand power is still there, but it is not enough to get him off the hook from 0-40 down. A duffed double-handed backhand into the net sees him cough up a second break in the third set. Nadal now in control at 4-6 6-3 3-0 up.

"Aussie journeyman Matthew Ebden was so impressed by a fizzing forehand return winner from Milos Raonic that he stopped and applauded his opponent. A stunning cushioned volley and a second serve ace prompted a similar response as the Canadian completed a 6-2 6-4 6-4 victory. On this evidence the big server could be ready to make a real impact on the lawns of the All England Club for the first time."
