As good as Kyle Edmund is, that match highlighted the one thing that he needs to improve. There just isn't a plan B. He's needs to be able to take a step back and realise it's not working.

Pospisil was struggling to hold serve and was burning too much energy early on but Edmund wasn't saying anything.

The fast court definitely didn't suit Kyle Edmund. But the match getting away from him so quickly was what I found really disappointing.

He's had enough experience to hang in more on his serve and make it a closer match.

He was playing a man with no confidence. But he looked like the player bereft of confidence.

  5. 'Pospisil deserved the win'published at 00:43 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2017

You can't argue with that result. Pospisil played the better tennis and deserved the win.

The middle part of the second set got away too quickly for him. Then it was difficult ask for anyone.

    Pospisil 6-4 6-1 6-6 Edmund*

Is this a change of tide we see? It's Kyle Edmund's turn to go 0-30 up.

Pospisil fends of the immediate danger to level, and he comes into the net and slices on to the chalk of the baseline.

But now Edmund brings us to deuce...

A delicate exchange at the net, with both men stooping low, sees Pospisil earn the point and he serves ace number 18 on the two-hour mark. Tie break time!

That point at 40-30 was one of the best points of the match, certainly from the baseline from Pospisil. He was so quick to get around and use his forehand when he saw Edmund was in trouble.

But Edmund came back for an incredible hold. He fended off a lot of heat from Pospisil.

Is the Canadian on the home straight now? Pospisil moves 0-30 up on Kyle Edmund's serve.

But the big man in red slams into the net and then carelessly flicks it into the same spot on the next point for 30-30.

Edmund edges ahead to 40-30 but then his opponent comes out on top after a brilliant rally. Deuce.

Pospisil shanks wide after a big second serve from Edmund and the Briton hits a fabulous forehand to hold. A big hold.

    Pospisil 6-4 6-1 5-5 Edmund*

Oooh, ok. This is interesting. A double fault from Pospisil.

But the Canadian is back fist pumping again as he edges 30-15 ahead before slamming down another ace - his 16th of the match - for 40-15, which Edmund reviews but it's well in.

Pospisil overawes Edmund with another big serve and we are back level again in the third set.
