So who is joining Maria Sharapova in the winners' enclosure on day three on the US Open?

Evgeniya Rodina is into the second round, after the Russian beat Canada's Eugenie Bouchard 7-6 (7-2) 6-1, but there is no room for Nick Kyrgios after the Australian loose cannon was ousted by compatriot John Millman.

British number three Aljaz Bedene did not make the second round grade either, losing 6-1 6-4 6-4 to Russian teenager Andrey Rublev in the US Open first round in New York.

But Grigor Dimitrov, Dominic Thiem, Elina Svitolina, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Coco Vandeweghe all safely negotiated their day's work.

Pablo Carreno Busta isn't wasting much time.

He's broken Cameron Norrie at the first ask and consolidated it with a hold. It's currently 3-2 in the Spaniard's favour.

Kyle Edmund is the final Brit in action today, but he's being made to wait for his appearance on Louis Armstrong Stadium.

John Isner is currently occupying the court - he has a 6-3 6-4 3-3 lead over Korea's Hyeon Chung.

Maria Sharapova, speaking after her 6-7 (4-7) 6-3 6-1 win: "It was tough to control the emotions yesterday. As much as you want to be happy about Monday, you want to move on really fast. Finding that balance is really hard.

"Today I knew I wanted to get it done and I did. I felt like it was a scrappy match but sometime those days are the best because you get through and give yourself another chance.

"In the second set I felt like I was physically fresh. That gave me a lot of confidence. I just wanted to be the fittest player out there in the end, and I was."

Maria Sharapova is cantering for home now, a hold to 15 in double-quick time.

Brit watch now, and Cameron Norrie has just headed out on court six to face Pablo Carreno Busta.

The 22-year-old came through qualifying and registered his first Grand Slam win on Monday when he beat Dmitry Tursunov.

Norrie, ranked 225th in the world, will double his career prize money should he win today.

However, he has a tough task on his hands, in the form of 12th seed Carreno Busta.

Timea Babos' legs are starting to go. As is her head.

The Hungarian grunts with effort as Maria Sharapova forces her deep and wide into corners that she just can't reach.

As her serve is stolen once again via a limp drop-shot into the net, Babos shrugs up her coaching staff in apparent surrender.

It's already felt like a packed Grand Slam day but as we head into a balmy New York evening there are still more than 20 singles matches yet to start. They include Briton Cameron Norrie, who own about to start against Pablo Carreno Busta, and Kyle Edmund, who looks to have well over an hour's wait ahead of him. And with the likes of Caroline Wozniacki and Petra Kvitova also yet to start, he's probably not first in the queue should another court become available.

It'll be Elina Svitolina to get play kick-started on Arthur Ashe tomorrow, as she takes on Evgeniya Rodina.

They'll be followed by number one Karolina Pliskova, who plays home favourite Nicole Gibbs, before Roger Federer takes centre stage against Mikhail Youzhny.

Coco Vandeweghe will open the night session against Ons Jabeur before top dog Rafael Nadal takes on Japan's Taro Daniel.
