Phew.
Benoit Paire is putting up much more of a fight in this second set, but Cam Norrie keeps it on serve.
*Norrie 6-0 2-3 Paire
Norrie follows up a big serve with a bigger forehand for 15-30. He winds up again to whack another forehand down and that's 30-30.
The Frenchman eventually takes Norrie to deuce and even manages to get himself a break point, but the British number one averts the danger for now.
*Norrie 6-0 2-3 Paire
Well, well, well.
Benoit Paire is 30-0 up on Cam Norrie's serve!
*Norrie 6-0 2-3 Paire
While the players take a break under their brollies, here's a quick catch-up on what happened yesterday.
*Norrie 6-0 2-3 Paire
Benoit Paire makes use of his serve and volley to get to 40-15, but a double fault immediately follows.
Norrie puts in a lovely return but Paire sprints to reach it and the Brit can only slap the ball into the net in reply.
The Frenchman has finally arrived in this match.
Norrie 6-0 2-2 Paire*
After Jonathan's suncream revelation, I am now deeply concerned about Cam Norrie burning his nose. Somebody get him a reapplication.
Benoit Paire finally wins a point on the Briton's serve with a backhand winner, then he only goes and wins another.
Of course, Norrie still holds and gets himself in the shade for another trip to the towel bin.
There are LOADS of big names already in action before we reach midday in New York on day two.
World number one and French Open champion Iga Swiatek is 4-2 up on Italian Jasmine Paolini on Louis Armstrong Stadium.
Eighth seed Jessica Pegula is a double break up at 5-2 against Viktorija Golubic but 16th seeed Jelena Ostapenko is behind early, trailing Qinwen Zheng 5-3.
Two-time Grand Slam champion Garbine Muguruza is faring better, leading Dane Clara Tauson 4-1.
Karolina Pliskova is 5-2 up on Magda Linette and sixth seed Aryna Sabalenka leads Catherine Harrison 4-1.
In the men's event, 17th seed Grigor Dimitrov is serving for the first set against American Steve Johnson.

Cameron Norrie arrived with a big patch of sunblock on his nose and cheeks, like he was expecting to stand out in the cricket field all afternoon.
But the protective layer has quickly disappeared with the Brit needing towel wipes after virtually every point.
His composure is cool, though. Blocking out what Paire was up to, Norrie has been focused and is hitting the ball crisply.
Norrie made just one unforced error in the first set, landing 10 winners and five aces as Paire provided little resistance.

What Cam has done so well is that he has adjusted his goals. He didn't get to the top ten and rest on his laurels. He moves on so quickly and he has great inner self-belief.
*Norrie 6-0 1-1 Paire
Paire is finding his service rhythm more now.
He bats down an ace, then sends another that unbalances Norrie, forcing the Brit to hit his forehand long.
We might get a bit more of a contest in this second set.
Norrie 6-0 1-1 Paire*
Ok we're back on track. Cam Norrie holds to love again.
He hasn't lost a point on his serve in this match so far.

"Come on!" shouts Paire after finally getting on the board.
A generous round of applause greets the Frenchman's game as the fans - including many with French voices - try to gee him up.
*Norrie 6-0 0-1 Paire
Benoit Paire has won a game.
Yes, you read that right.
It wasn't even particuarly challenging for the Frenchman, either. Cam Norrie won two points, but for the first time in the match can't claim a break. Maybe this is where play really begins.

A rapid hold to love and Norrie seals the opening set in 18 minutes.
Cue a rapid exit for many fans. Too hot for them on the scorching outside court 11 to watch a no-contest.

There's a lot of people who have paid money to come and watch this match and Paire is just lolloping around like he has just been told off by his mum. Try.

It's another muggy one in New York.
One of the defining features of the US Open is often hot and humid conditions - although there is also the propensity for a thunderstorm - and there are sticky conditions again today.
Temperatures are set to touch 30C this afternoon, with the humidity set to pass 65% - which makes it pretty uncomfortable for most humans.
If I disappear for a little while later you might find me cooling off in the iconic Fountains of the Fair next to the Billie Jean King Tennis Center...

One of the best compliments Norrie can be given is that people don't want to play him because he is such a fierce competitor.
The attention isn't always on him but the flip side is he gets to move silently through draws.
Norrie 6-0 0-0 Paire*
Cam Norrie claims the first set in EIGHTEEN minutes.
Poor Benoit Paire. The Briton holds to love again, sealing a dominant 6-0 win in the first set with an ace.

Top-level athletes have to refuel sensibly to replace all the calories they have burned and stock up on energy for the next day's training.
Sometimes, but probably not always, a sloppy slice of pizza is the perfect way to replenish. Carbs in the dough, protein in the cheese, perhaps vitamins from a veggie topping.
And it's delicious. Especially in New York - the home of the slice.
Cam Norrie is a pizza fan and put a shout-out to American pizza reviewer Dave Portnoy - the man behind "One Bite - you know the rules!" (look it up) for an expert tip.
“I asked him but he didn’t get back to me. Maybe I’ll find one," laughed Norrie.
