Walking into Roland Garros tonight, you pass tens of Algerians queuing outside to get inside and hundreds more in the grounds.

Nearly everyone is wearing green, white and red national colours, and all here, of course, to support Imane Khelif.

"The whole controversy has been very injustice and not very fair," says Megharbi Imane, a content creater who is in Paris to support the boxer.

"We are very supportive of her but can't ever imagine her mindset. She has a big mindset, an amazing mindset.

"Algerians everywhere are supporting her - even those who know nothing about boxing or sport. They are supporting her just because they want her to know we believe in her, know her story and know her background.

"She's a woman and she deserves her place here."

    Track cycling - men's sprint

Bronze medallist Jack Carlin on BBC One: “It has been a tough couple of months after what happened in Canada and I think the last three months have probably been the hardest of my career, trying to get back to health and the support team I have, the physio who you saw hugging me at the end, who has mended me to put me back in one piece.

“I didn’t know what to expect with the sprint. My aim was the team sprint, to make sure I delivered that for the team and then the kierin is my aim and my gold chance, that’s still to come.

"If it wasn't for the British Cycling support I wouldn’t have been on the line today or at this Games. They've mended me back together and brought me to a place where I’m medal competitive - I can only be thankful for that."

Lin Yu-ting (left) and Imane Khelif are both guaranteed a medal at Paris 2024

Boxing at Paris 2024 has been overshadowed by a row about the eligibility of two fighters in the women's competition.

Algeria's Imane Khelif and Taiwanese fighter Lin Yu-ting will fight for gold on Friday and Saturday respectively. Khelif fights at 21:51 BST against Yang Liu of China in the women's 66kg category.

But last year Khelif and Lin were disqualified from the World Championships. The body that oversaw that 2023 event is the International Boxing Association (IBA), and it says both fighters failed gender eligibility tests.

On Monday the IBA held a news conference which it had said would provide a "detailed explanation of the reasons for the disqualification".

However the chaotic media event left more questions than answers.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has cast doubt on the reliability of the tests and suggested what is happening is a "sometimes politically motivated cultural war".

In June 2023, the IOC stripped the IBA of its status as the sport's amateur world governing body over concerns over how it was run.

So many! The pole vault world record, the mixed relays, KJT today.... but I think also Megan Keith who has only run the 10,000m three times before. Looked so tired at the end but she kept on running and finishing! Very inspiring.

'O Canada' is playing loudly out of the speakers inside the Stade de France - another cracker of a national anthem. Andre de Grasse anchored the Canadians to 4x100m relay gold and looking at his age, the Tokyo men's 200m champion is only 29! He doesn't turn 30 until November.

Also standing on the podium are the British quartet picking up their bronze. It's been a great day for medals for Team GB.
