  1. Wilson restores five-frame gappublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 6 May 2024

    Wilson 13-8 Jones

Nope, he can't, missing a red on 83 but that won't worry Kyren Wilson too much.

He's halted Jak Jones' fightback in its tracks and we're back where we were at the start of the day, with Wilson five frames to the good at the interval.

More importantly, he's just five frames from the finishing line and being crowned World champion for the first time.

    He certainly has, Dennis.

A very composed break from Kyren Wilson, up to 76 and the frame is secure.

Can he head into the mid-session interval with a century?

You can tell that Kyren Wilson seems more comfortable now. He looked a bit edgy in those opening two frames but he's got the cue ball under complete control.

This session is all about Jak. If he wins it 5-3 or better we're in for a cracking night!

Hmmm... Kyren Wilson with a good chance here to draw the session level at 2-2, mind...

    Wilson 12-8 Jones

Jak Jones taking the opening two frames this afternoon means we are guaranteed an evening session, as Hazel Irvine reminded us between frames.

The biggest lead Kyren Wilson could build is 17-8 if he takes the five frames still to be played this afternoon.

His break is up to 33 in frame 21.

  6. Rivals can't keep up with the Jonespublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 6 May 2024

    Wilson 11-7 Jones

Perhaps the most remarkable thing about Jak Jones' fairytale run to the World Championship final is that the world number 44 has come through every round relatively comfortably.

The underdog has had to play two more matches than Kyren Wilson to get to this stage, having had to come through qualifiers where he breezed past two tough cookies in Jamie Clarke and Zhou Yuelong.

He walloped Zhang Anda in round one and beat Si Jiahui in the last 16 before adding the scalps of two former world champions - Judd Trump and Stuart Bingham - to his increasingly impressive resume.

Jak Jones looks accusingly at someone in the crowd, indicating there was some movement as he broke off.

If it was a distraction it could be very costly as Jones caught the blue on the way back up the table - classic club player error as I know only too well - and has left Kyren Wilson a chance to get started.

  8. 'Warrior' on the rampagepublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 6 May 2024

    Wilson 12-8 Jones

A reminder of both players' routes to the final, starting with the man in the lead.

Kyren Wilson's opponents have barely laid a glove on the 'Warrior' during his rampage to the final.

Veteran Dominic Dale was swatted aside in the opening round, as was Mark Selby's conqueror Joe O'Connor in the last 16.

Then the statement win over four-time Crucible champion John Higgins before Wilson pulled away in the final two sessions of a high-quality semi-final against fellow Englishman David Gilbert.

Now it's Jak Jones' turn to leave the arena. Must be all these bottles of water these lads are drinking.

    Wilson 12-8 Jones

This has really been a gift from Jak Jones that Kyren Wilson has gratefully accepted.

He needed an easy chance to get a frame on the board, and that's exactly what he's done.

Six frames from the World title now, the 'Warrior', in this first-to-18 final.

However, Jak Jones pushes the boat out perhaps a tad too far, smashing the pack open while attempting a not-straightforward red that ends up missing by miles.

Great Jak Jones stat for you. On his return to the tour a decade ago his 2013-14 stats were played 16, lost 16. He's paid his dues...

    Cheers, Will

Jones has laid down a gauntlet for his opponent, no holding back.

Yesterday I really feared for him when he went 7-0 behind, he looked all at sea, very nervous.

But in the last couple of sessions he's got that bite back, he looks a different player.

    Wilson 11-8 Jones

Kyren Wilson runs out of position though and has to play safe.

He leaves Jak Jones a sight of a long red, however - and in it goes.

Only a snooker behind the brown to follow but Wilson's escape is heavy and leaves a red which Jones pots beautiffuly with the rest.

Jak Jones tries to cuts a red in the middle and misses but covers it with the blue.

It leaves Kyren Wilson a very testing alternative red into the corner pocket with the cue ball near the cushion - but it's right in the heart of the bag. Excellent pot.

Is there a rule about players leaving the arena? Seems Wilson is doing it to upset Jones' rhythm?

    Steve, Kent

It could break his rhythm. Could also be a chance to 'reset' himself.

Beata is here to watch from Krakow, while Kasia lives a tad closer in York.

"I have been coming here for 10 years but have been a snooker fan forever," says Kasia.

"Yesterday we were worried it was going to be a one-sided match but in the evening it was very exciting and the last frame was amazing.

"The black-ball frame, the exchange of safety, I was so emotional at the end.It was massive because leading by five or three frames...I hope Jak [Jones] comes back again and shows the same performance as last night."

It's an unusual situation - even though Kyren Wilson still has a three-frame lead, his opponent has started faster.

When you're being chased, it's not nice until you get your first frame on the board.

Couple of butterfly-settling pots for Kyren Wilson early in frame 20 but he's a bit unlucky not to be on a red after a nice shot on thre brown and has to play safe.
