It's great to be the underdog when there's no pressure and you're just playing.

But there's going to come a time if Jak keeps winning frames, that the pressure is going to build on him as well.

He's going to realise he can win this final and it will be interesting to see what happens then.

This is the worst start to the day Kyren Wilson could have had - no wonder he's walked out.

  5. Jones' comeback continuespublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 6 May

    Wilson 11-8 Jones

A black to middle stays out but the lead is 67 with 59 on and Kyren Wilson isn't interested in playing for the two snookers he needs, instead heading out of the arena.

He knows he's in a match now. From 7-0 up about 22 hours ago, he's been pegged back to 11-8.

  6. Jones survives couple of scarespublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 6 May

    Wilson 11-7 Jones

These balls were there for the taking after that brilliant opening red - but you still have to take them.

And Jak Jones has done exactly that - it's not been a scare-free break with one straight red just dropping in but his lead is up to 60 regardless.

Talking of scares - Jones almost goes in-off in the middle when cutting in a red in but the cue ball just catches the knuckle and stops on the table to the Welshman's relief.

The body language of the two players has been quite evident.

Jak Jones has come out and been very positive - even coming down the stairs, the fist pump to the crowd, he's just started this session so positively.

And Kyren Wilson has looked the more nervy of the two without a shadow of a doubt.

Jak Jones takes the bull by the horns, chancing a tricky red to middle with the cue ball on the cushion.

And he gets it! What a brave shot to take on - can he cash in? He should make a few here.

Bit of 'cat and mouse' or 'Tom and Jerry', as Dennis Taylor calls it, going on.

A handful of reds up in the baulk area and a safety battle going on down by the black spot.

Each waiting for the other to make a mistake and leave a chance on one of the reds, which are really split everywhere now.

  10. Wilson winning head-to-headpublished at 13:38 British Summer Time 6 May

    Wilson 11-7 Jones

These players both turned professional in 2020 but it's not unfair to say that Kyren Wilson has enjoyed far more success of the two.

Jak Jones is yet to win a ranking event - and what a way it would be to break that duck.

Wilson has won four of their five previous meetings including the most recent - a 6-0 shellacking in the 2021 UK Championship.

But Jones did triumph 5-4 in the German Masters earlier that year - with their other three encounters having come in minor events or Q-School tour qualifiers.

Jak Jones is smiling more today than he has all tournament.

Really seems to be starting to relish the occasion - but the smile disappears, replaced by an expression of confusion as a red to middle wobbles and stays out.

Jak Jones in with the first chance in frame 19 too as Kyren Wilson attempts a very fine cut on a red, misses it and gets the dreaded double kiss to leave the Welshman another opening.

  13. 'Jak needs to keep Kyren edgy'published at 13:33 British Summer Time 6 May

    Wilson 11-7 Jones

It's important for Jak to keep the momentum going.

In order for him to take Kyren out of his stride, he can't afford too many unforced errors, because that's the way the other person starts to relax.

The way to keep Kyren on the back foot is to make him edgy and more worried than he should be.

    Wilson 11-7 Jones

World number 12 Wilson pots green and brown so he only needs two snookers on the higher-value blue.

But he leaves a long pot opportunity for Jak Jones, who crashes it in to take the opening frame of the day and reduce his arrears to just four frames.

Ciarán and Peter are over from Dublin and have got tickets for this afternoon and are hoping to pick up some last-minute returns for the evening, fingers crossed.

"In a really terrible way I am hoping that we see the trophy lifted this afternoon because it'd be great to see it happen live. Although I'd like to see Jak Jones do himself justice," Peter says.

"Considering where snooker was a couple of years ago we will now have back-to-back first time winners, which can only be good for the sport.

"That final frame last night was a real kick in the teeth for Jak and I felt for him having to do an interview straight after it."

Steve T: To Frank at 1300: Didn't Jones do the same when he won the eighth frame yesterday for 7-1?? They're hardly Ebdon-esque are they?

  20. Snookers required for Wilsonpublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 6 May

    Wilson 11-6 Jones

The cue ball finishes dead on the cushion and the pot is made even more awkward by the fact the right-handed Jones has to use a precariously-positioned rest.

The red just drops in off the knuckle and while Jones misses the pink to follow, Kyren Wilson needs two snookers, 33 behind with just 27 on.
