I think Tommy Paul was saying my forehand is kinda good as well you know. Then, Alcaraz said ‘not as good as this’.

Wow. Incredible tennis for the third point in this game.
Some extremely powerful hitting from Tommy Paul from the baseline with the forehead, but Carlos Alcaraz somehow manages to position himself to strike a glorious winner down the line.
Paul then suffers a lapse in concentration with a volley at the net. 30-40.
Break-point chance for Alcaraz.

Amy Joanne: Not looking good for Sinner here. Hope he's okay.

I think we’ll see in these next few games when he gets into a rally whether Sinner takes even more chances to finish the point early. He does not look good.
Sinner 7-6 (9-7) 4-6 2-3 Medvedev*
A tidy dropshot from Jannik Sinner brings him to 40-0 before he finds the net twice.
An ace then seals the game for the Italian top seed and the crowd enjoyed that one.
Alcaraz 1-1 Paul*
Carlos Alcaraz with a ruthless and determined opening service game, which he wins to love. Over in just 90 seconds. There's a clenched fist and steely look in his eyes.

Even in the warm-up it didn't take long before we heard the first "we love you, Carlos" coming from the crowd .
If this opening game is anything to go by then we've got an absolutely brilliant few hours ahead. Alcaraz gets four break points, but Paul does superbly to fend them all off in an excellent hugely enjoyable six-minute opener.
*Sinner 7-6 (9-7) 4-6 1-3 Medvedev
Impeccable serving and a rapid hold to love for Daniil Medvedev.
Some cheers of encouragement for Jannik Sinner from the crowd as the Italian begins his service game.

There’s a lot of focus on Alcaraz’s athletic ability but Tommy Paul is an amazing mover as well and should not be underestimated.
*Alcaraz 0-1 Paul
Four break points saved as Tommy Paul battles to hold his serve in the first game.
Sinner 7-6 (9-7) 4-6 1-2 Medvedev*
Jannik Sinner's back on court moving much quicker than when he left - let's hope he's feeling better.
We're back under way.
Alcaraz 0-0 Paul*
Tommy Paul saves two break points, but Carlos Alcaraz's lightning quick returns give the Spaniard another opportunity.
Sinner 7-6 (9-7) 4-6 1-2 Medvedev*
We're still awaiting the return of Jannik Sinner after he left the court looking unwell.
The cameras show Daniil Medvedev shrugging his shoulders in conversation with the umpire - not sure what's being said there.

As always with the second match on a court, we start off with some empty seats as the fans get refreshed after the earlier excitement.
But it will soon be full and what a couple of matches we have going on at the moment. World number one Jannik Sinner level at a set apiece with Daniil Medvedev on Centre and reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz versus 12th seed Tommy Paul on One.
With the rain sadly showing no signs of easing off, these matches will be providing some considerable entertainment for the rest of the afternoon. The winners meet in the next round. Whatever combination that is, it promises to be a brilliant semi-final.
But first, the quarter-final.
Alcaraz 0-0 Paul*
Tommy Paul, his cap turned backwards, wins the toss and decides to serve first but some rapid returns from Carlos Alcaraz and the American finds himself having to save two break points in the first game at 15-40.

Daniil Medvedev is now practicing his serves as he waits for Jannik Sinner to return to the court.

The physiotherapist is taking Jannik Sinner's temperature which may indicate it's some sort of illness rather than a physical problem?
The Italian top seed is now leaving the court.
Daniil Medvedev, meanwhile, takes a swig of his drink and stares at the grass. Wonder what he's thinking?

I think Tommy Paul has improved through the roof.
His confidence levels are high after winning at Queen’s and dominating opponents here. He’s had little time on the court because he’s going through his opponents so quickly.

In the Open Era at Wimbledon, the United States have far more titles in the men's singles than any other nation - but you have to go a long way back in the record books to find them.
Since 1968, American men have lifted the trophy on 15 occasions - Stan Smith in 1972, Jimmy Connors in 1974 and 1982, Arthur Ashe in 1975, John McEnroe in 1981, 1983 and 1984, Andre Agassi in 1992 and Pete Sampras on seven occasions between 1993 and 2000.
But since then, three losing final appearances for Andy Roddick is the closest they have come.
Could this year be different? Two of the last eight are from the States, with Tommy Paul in action against Spain's Carlos Alcaraz, before Taylor Fritz, who eliminated fourth seed Alexander Zverev yesterday, plays Italy's Lorenzo Musetti on Wednesday.
Paul and Fritz are in opposite halves of the draw, so who knows, maybe it will be an all American final. Alcaraz will have something to say about that.

Ah, as we suspected.
Something is not quite right with Jannik Sinner and he calls for the physio at the change-over.
